Plymouth player Graham Carey has came out and stated that he believes that his club are capable of reaching the Championship by achieving back to back promotions this season and next season in L1.

Plymouth are now expected to not only be promoted this season, but next season also!!

Yep. Very silly imo. Nothing wrong with a bit of ambition, but still.

Only if they can bring that devilish algae under control.........and recruit half a new squad when they go up, as I think they may via the play-offs.

Normally they say 'we can be in the Championship in 5 years ' thus giving themselves 3 seasons before he gets the elbow ....

I enjoyed listening to their fans last year.
When they were top: "YES! We're basically promoted"
When we won at their place: "Still top!! All will be well!"
When we overtook them: "Still second! Big gap to third"
When Oxford overtook them: "Still third! We'll start winning again soon"
When they dropped into the playoffs: "Still time left, might get back in"

Very funny

That said our chairman reckoned we could be in the championship in 5 years also which was received with a great deal of amusement - and that was just from the Mansfield fans!

It's always cringy when players say stuff like this and the clubs really should be doing their best to stop it being released

That quote is hardly worth this ridicule, if Burton can do it...

Plymouth fans are completely deluded. Anyone remember when they signed Taribo West and they thought he was the messiah??
Never underestimate their ability to waste money and play like shite.

Taribo West was a messiah on Championship Manager, however he only made 4 appearances for Plymouth in real life.

Fucking hell, Taribo West! What a calamity he was.

First of all, no-one knew his age and despite claiming he was 31 ex-managers were saying he could be in his forties. Then he didn't arrive for the first four weeks of his contract due to visa issues. He then got sacked for not attending Paul Wotton's testimonial.

Still, the best bit of all is this. We've signed some rubbish but this takes some beating...

"Before I went to Qatar last year I had a revelation," he said. "I saw myself playing in a stadium in front of a small crowd. I saw myself playing in a certain type of shirt and with a certain group of people. When I arrived at the club to discuss joining them it was the same stadium I had seen in my revelation. They were playing in the same shirt. I just knew it was right.

"Three or four days before I came to Plymouth I had a similar experience. I saw myself playing for a Second Division team in Spain. At first that made me think that Plymouth weren't right for me. Besides, my human nature was telling me that I should be playing for a top division team somewhere. I woke up and I was thinking to myself: 'I don't want to play for a Second Division team'.

"Then I realised that God was simply showing me a sign that I would join a Second Division team somewhere. It was the voice of God. The spirit was telling me: 'Taribo, you have to go.' And the way that Bobby Williamson [Plymouth's manager] received me when I arrived told me that this was the right decision. If you want to know whether you belong somewhere you know straight away when you arrive. You realise that's your place."

Didn't he get church release on Sundays if I remember correctly?
