Brentford have been a bit of a bogey side for us the last few years, as were Dean Smith's Walsall. However, we are starting to look a lot better and hopefully Brentford play like they did in the first half on Friday night.

Johnstone
Vermijl-Clarke-Wright-Cunningham
Pearson-Gallagher
Reach-Johnson-Robinson
Garner
That's what I want to see, think he will go more of a 4-3-3 with Doyle though.

2-1.

4 unbeaten including 3 wins on the bounce before Saturday, it's safe to say we're in decent form but Brentford have been a bit of a bogey side recently. Think we've lost 5 of the last 6 games against them, so we have a good chance of putting that right as I think they've lost 3 on the spin.

Not sure on Reach's or Clarke's injury situation and it hasn't been announced when Grimshaw is having his operation so i'm unsure if they're available.

Possibly unchanged from Saturday?

Johnstone
Woods, Huntington, Wright, Cunningham
Browne, Pearson, Johnson
Doyle, Garner, Gallagher

Kirkland, Vermijl, Clarke, Welsh, Kilkenny, Hugill, Robinson

Need to watch Judge, was raging that we weren't in for him on loan when he was sat on his ass at Blackburn.

He was the extra bit of class that got Brentford automatics that season. What did he go for in the end about £300k? peanuts.

Think this will be a classic home performance by us, e.g. real horrible to watch when the onus is on us to attack.

Smith has certainly had the better of Grayson in recent years, I'd take a point but can see our unbeaten run coming to an end here.

I think it could be another tough week for us, we've looked completely out of sorts of late, not penetration and no great defending either. 1 goal in the last 4 or something, and we've lost all 4. Desperately in need of some fresh blood unfortunately.

Think we'll make some changes from last week, too many players let themselves down.

Reckon Preston will win 2-1.

Button

Colin - Dean - O'Connell - Bidwell

McCormack - McEachran

Woods - Judge - Vibe

Djuricin
That side looks an absolute shadow of what we had last season, if Judge wasn't playing like the best player in the league this season we'd be in massive trouble. Wish we could put out a side like this from last year. By the end of this season it'll likely only be Button and Bidwell left.

Button

Odubajo - Tarkowski - Dean - Bidwell

Diagouraga - Judge

Jota - Pritchard - Dallas

Gray

Is a bit of a contrast that but still a capable team on paper, how have the foreign lads Vibe and Djuricin done this year?

Preston are due a win against us and they will probably get it, good time to be playing us. Will be dissapointed if Diagouraga plays, he doesn't want to play for us anymore and after his disgraceful half assed performance last week he doesn't deserve to play either.

Djuricin was looking really good earlier in the season but got injured and is only just back in the team. Vibe is okay, has scored a few goals but looks pretty useless when he doesn't have support from the midfield.

Which is most of the time this season...

Sounds awful, but I'm really not looking forward to the trip tomorrow. There's always a game each season where I buy train and match tickets early on to get the discount, and then when the game roles around I think "Nope, don't want to go". Lost four in a row, looked terrible at certain times and decent at others, but we don't look like scoring. We've gone from second top scorers in the league at Christmas to barely being able to properly test the opposition keeper. Also we really struggle with clean sheets.

I quite like trips up to Preston however. We secured one of the most undeserved 1-1 draws a few seasons ago when a cross hit Antonio German's shoulder and looped over the keeper in the last few minutes. The last time we played at Deepdale we completely tore them apart 3-0 right at the start of Warburton's reign... Think tomorrow we could really struggle unless we find an early goal and build on it. We were fortunate enough to play PNE relatively early on in the season, as they took an early lead but Championship inexperience meant that they couldn't defend it. Could be a different matter though in 24 hrs time.

Looking forward to decent-sized pub food portions tomorrow :)

Might have to get your Google Maps out but The Wellington on Glovers Court in town serves proper pub grub. Cheap as well.

Not great for boozing though but it's right in the middle of town so you've plenty of other alternatives.

What time does your train get in? There's a number of Brentford fans arriving at 11.50 who are meeting up with some Preston fans opposite the train station at the Old Vic pub where a combined pub crawl will take place all the way to Deepdale. This is a result of a club "twinning" from a previous Gentry day down at yours.

I'm supposed to be going but I've got tonsillitis at the moment so I'm not really in the pub crawl mood. Never say never mind.

Coming in with my old man, who hobbles and doesn't like people. Booked the cheaper 3hr train from Euston a few months back, so it works out well as I've got a decent FM 16 save on the go ;)

I find myself in Preston so frequently recently that I've actually started liking the place! :D

Burnley, Blackburn, Bolton, etc. away. I try to avoid going through Manchester for those. Also, head up to the lakes quite a lot, and if we need a car we jump off the train in Preston to pick up a rental.

Such a lightweight looking lineup for us. Will be pretty shocked if this isn't a home win.

Only Bidwell Button Dean and Judge left from last year's team says a lot. Surprised we have as many points as we do.

Can't even be assed going into detail, Grayson dropped one of his tactical bollocks which happens now and then, played into Brentford's hands and they made the most of it.

Was speaking to some their fans in the station hotel after the game, all top lads, good luck to Brentford.

Hopefully Eoin Doyle dies.

A game when we finally started taking our chances, and we got a bit of luck when we needed it. Preston scored with pretty much their only attack of the first half, and I felt us leading at half time was fair. What an incredible pass from Barbet to Judge for our second goal though! Thought the ref was very keen to keep 22 players on the pitch despite what looked like quite an obvious sending off for Garner, and also thought Gallagher probably should have received a second yellow towards the end - 17 fouls committed by PNE!

Second half and we lost our shape quite a bit, PNE hit the post and then had a goal ruled out for offside - if that had been given then I wouldn't have been surprised if we ended up pointless at the end of the game. Button then made quite an incredible safe, tipping it on to the bar from a point blank deflection and we wrapped up the points. Felt we played well and deserved the win, but luck was with us in the second half. Without meaning to sound inflammatory, I thought PNE were quite one dimensional and long ball. Obviously Garner is good in the air, but it seemed to be the one tactic you tried over and over, without passing it around much.

We've done well at Deepdale over the last few years and today was a good win for us. Been impressed with how PNE have been able to climb away from the relegation zone recently and hope they do well for the rest of the season.

I think we've had quite a few lucky victories this season, could easily still be in a much worse position. Need to improve and fast, this luck won't keep coming.

Actually I'd say we've had more unlucky defeats than lucky wins - far more in fact, and we needed things to start falling for us. We're in a decent position, there seems to be so much expectation from some parts of our support based on last year, but the fact is we're significantly undermined as far as FFP goes, as we've got one of the smallest turnovers in the league, that realistically mid-table is a decent achievement again.

Delighted with the result, sounds like we played well. PNE must be starting to get sick of us..

Not at all, you were the biggest banker of the day today. Made a nice bit of cash for tonight.

You won't see a better save than this all season in the Championship. Button is class, luckily for us he seems to go under the radar a bit.

Surprised someone like Villa hasn't come in for him yet. Used to have his moments in League 1 when collecting / punching crosses, but has largely tightened up that part of his game, and you won't find a better shot stopper in the league.
