We drew at their place earlier in the season but prior to that we had lost our last 4 against them, annoying, as before that we were a bit of a bogey team for them.

But anyway, we're a different animal to previous seasons or the game earlier in this season for that matter and i'd be pissed off with anything but a win on Saturday, especially after that result at MK, we were top drawer in the second half.

I expect Crewe to have a lot of the ball in the middle of the park but we've got the firepower to see this one out, an early goal would be nice.

Likely team:
Johnstone
Clarke, Huntington, Wright, Laird
Welsh, Johnson
Humphrey, Gallagher, Robinson
Garner

Stuckmann, Woods, Kilkenny, Reid, Beckford, K. Davies, Ebanks-Blake

Everything points to a home win, but were 5 unbeaten vs PNE having won 4 of them. Lots of talk about a possible return for Uche but I don't think it will happen so should be the sane team and to be fair Haber hasn't done to badly recently up top with Ajose.

Heart says 2-2 but head over rules and goes PNE 3-1 Crewe (Garner, Gallagher, Beckford, Ajose) 12,588 (400 Crewe)

Our away form is absolutely dreadful and on paper this looks like a walkover for PNE.

However I take heart that since our promotion, we've often gave a very good account of ourselves at the bigger clubs. Two wins at Preston previously as well. However these are two different teams to the other meetings. Joe Garner and Jermaine Beckford are a far greater proposition than playing Grimsby and Crewe reject Anthony Elding as a lone striker up front. We also lack Byron Moore who often had a good game at Preston but Greg Leigh is the sort of player who could cause Preston's right side problems if he uses his pace.

Despite Davis saying we'll attack the big teams to appease the papers I firmly believe he'll set us up for a 0-0 against an in-form Preston, so I'm going for 2-0 Preston on Saturday.

I can't see Uche coming back either so unchanged team.

Preston 0-1 Crewe. Uche 85th minute.

I doubt Preston will actually beat us ever again*.

*But there is an inkling they may win on Saturday without breaking sweat, but we can't quite admit that.

400 if we're lucky, bar Vale and Fleetwood we've had shocking turnouts this season compared to others, probably because of the dire standard of football dished up by Davis on the road.

Couple of things working in our favour here. Think we can benefit from going into this game not expecting to get anything. Pressure all on PNE. Not completely convinced by their home form, the Donny game shows they are perhaps still a little vulnerable.

It all hinges on the first goal I think. If we can get it, we have a good chance of getting something. But we are useless when playing from behind and trying to get back into games. If PNE score first, probably game over given their defensive record.

Not at all confident, but you never know, this would be the kind of game we could snatch a result out of nowhere in. 2-0 home win though.

Anthony Elding :eek::eek: The thought of our team under Westley makes me sick!! Now we have Beckford, Kevin Davies and Ebanks Blake on the bench :woot:

We need to be following up our fantastic win away at MK with a home win. No disrepect to Crewe, who i do have massive respect for as a club, but we need to be beating Crewe at home to get second spot. Nervous about this one and sitting on the fence regarding the score o_O

Hope we beat Crewe by 4 or 5 and they get relegated on goal difference, just so I can feel like we played a part.

Why's Davis got a shitty on about everyone this week? Needs to be quiet tbh.

Along with Garrett, Grant has been our most consistent player. Ridiculous comments made by Davis.

He's simply getting his excuses ready for when he buggers off in the summer.

Can see it now 'he lost consistentcy so I didn't believe he was worth a deal'.

I thought he was out of order with the comment about fans last weekend but flabbergasted by singling out Grant. Even if we have been "carrying" him, which we most certainly haven't, tell him behind closed doors ffs.

My hopes of keeping Grant have pretty much disappeared. He'll be someone else's player of the season in League One next season ffs.

Can't wait to have Chris Atkinson starting in midfield instead of Grant next season if he's not in the treatment room.

Why do we treat our experienced players like shit if they don't come from our Academy? Bloody hell...

Starting to sound like we could have Uche back for this.

If that's the case I change my mind

PNE 0-1 Crewe (Ikpeazu) :p
