Alright, all these part timer Pokemon Go players can fuck off now, the real series is back.

Anybody got this? Surprised that there's not a thread yet. Come on you fuckin' nerds, get your heads out of your asses and tell me how you're doing.

I started with Litten. It was between that or the Owl, of course. Popplio, you say? Naaaaah.

Litten has evolved now into Torracat and is a fucking badass, so he's the only thing I've used for the most part. Started to train up a Mudbray though and he's doing ok as well. Will probably replace him later once I get better things, but he's good backup to Torracat.

Currently on the 2nd island. Just got a ridable Lapras I've been waiting to properly ride around on one of those for nearly 20 years...

Only Pokemon games I have ever played was Blue, back on the GBC and then one of the ds one's that had a kind of shiny dragon thing on it. Considering picking this up though as did enjoy those other two and heard this is good.

Black wasn't very good. (Especially after they gave you a Mewtwo, which I only needed to complete the rest of the game.) Don't have a 3DS either. Think I'd only get one if they remade the original/Johto games (Again!). For now I will stick to Pokemon World Online. (Which I rarely find time to play anyway).

Played Red/Blue and Gold/Silver back in the day, think I picked up a copy of Black but gave up on it pretty quickly. Not tried any of the others since, the number of different Pokemon / Types just ended up being a bit confusing.

Let us know if this one is worth trying though!

Hm... perhaps. I do think that they've really made an effort to freshen things up this time around and it feels as if it's making a big difference. For example, the staple structure of the game is totally different... there are no gyms, no collecting 8 badges and then doing the pokemon league and such. It's a case of going around these Islands and completing trials.

But I feel like it's the most I've enjoyed a Pokemon game in years...

Using myself as an example:

Red, I got as a kid, so obviously it was the best thing ever and I was obsessed because Pokemon was huge back then.

Silver, again, obsessed.

Sapphire, once again, I loved.

Diamond I liked as well, but this is probably where I started to get a bit tired of the formula...

Black is where I definitely started to get tired. The story was the best that a Pokemon game has ever had, but the basic game was getting a bit stale. The map was sort of a circle... you start at the bottom at the league was at the top, with the whole second half of the map coming after you finish it. I never touched the second half of the map...

Y took me months to complete. Maybe up to a year. I just wasn't arsed for it. Maybe the game was crap, maybe it was just a case of me finally getting franchise fatigue...

But now with Moon, I feel like it's the most I've enjoyed a Pokemon game since... well, perhaps Sapphire. Just the changes, scraping the league for the trials, ditching HM's and replacing them with ridable Pokemon that do different things, and the fact that the game looks really cool in general... it's making it feel like the most important Pokemon game since the first ones to me. Plus I really love this generation of Pokemon... some great additions. And the Alolan forms are a master stroke as well... and probably something that will appeal to all of you who are thinking about getting Sun/Moon but haven't played it since the "good old days". A bunch of the Pokemon you remember from the first generation have been given facelifts, changing how they look and their types. For example, Ninetales and Sandslash are now Ice:

Marrowak is a Ghost/Fire BADASS

And Dugtrio is now steel type... and FABULOUS:

But it's not all good. I mean, look at what they did to poor Exeggutor...

Just had a look and think it was actually platinum, which is a sort of scorpion thing, although the glitter style case is what I remember, was definitely the original ds though as remember playing it on the grey brick version.

Oh god no, what they did to Muk is a travesty. Granted, he was hardly the prettiest Pokemon in the first place, but they managed to make him look like somebody threw up from eating too many sweets. Muk should not be that damn colourful.

Special Training... that actually annoyed me. Only in the sense that it was such a great little addition that I actually got myself around to doing it, when usually I'm not bothered with EV's and all that shit... but I think it's a large reason that I just couldn't be assed for the last game. It was so fucking dull after a while doing that training, and there was so much of it to do...

I love the new Muk, made sure to grab me a Grimer early...

I shouldn't be bothered with EVs but I'm a complete perfectionist and I want the best I can. Previously I was in bliss but then around Black and White time I fully worked out natures, EVs, IVs and now I'm anal over which ones I keep and which ones will be wonder traded away.

Trouble putting together a team already, about 20 I want. Shame I can't get my favourite Pokemon in this one

I don't even know the exact figure any more Somewhere between 800-900 I'd say.

They're not all catchable in the game, no. That'd be insane! But the global trade network/trading from older games will allow you to use what you want, really.

I actually got my first Geodude yesterday, who is now a Graveller... need to get around to trading him to get my hands on that classy son of a bitch! I can't actually beleive I left him out of the alolan form Pokemon I posted above, he's probably my favourite... in fact, I like him and Marrowak so much that they're both going into my team

Nah, Jigglypuff was not given an Alolan form.

Ok, I'll admit that I think Jigglypuff is a bit over rated... but more annoying than ZUBAT? That's too far. No Pokemon even comes close to that mother fucker. He's plagued every single cave in every single Pokemon game, and is even an absolute prick in Pokemon Go... not just popping up EVERYWHERE, but he's also the trickiest prick to catch on the game. So damned good at dodging balls.
