Evening,

DarkSithLord has brought it to my attention that we have rather a lot of posters that support or are followers are Conference North/South teams who are currently forced to post in the same areas as teams supporting the National League.

It currently looks like a few of the well supported teams could potentially be dropping back down to these levels at the end of the season and so perhaps it would be worthwhile having seperate sections?

I'll make a poll on the idea and then re-visit in say a weeks time?

So in short - would people be interested/want/prefer the Conference section to have sub-forums for both the Conference North and South, as well as the current section?

Personally, no. There was something similar on TFF and it was incredibly sparse and the decision was ultimately reversed. Keeping everything non-league under one forum makes people far more likely to read and contribute in other threads.

Edit: I assume everything Step 2 and below would be encompassed in this sub-forum? The FA Trophy also blurs the lines with clubs from Steps 1-4 competing in it.

Hi Guys.
I have been thinking how to attract more Non League Fans to the site.

I have noticed there doesnt seem to be a forum on the internet dedicated to Conference North and South outside of Facebook. We have several members who post regularly in Threads dedicated to the League but I believe that sometimes it can become forgot about.

And with well supported teams such as Torquay,Kidderminster and Halifax looking they will be relegated come the end of the season I can see the interest really growing in the leagues.

Some members have remarked in the past they we could easily attract a huge amount of members (similar on scale to the busy NL section we have now. But whats holding they back is there is just one single thread. I believe a whole section make encourage others to join

Aber I would say Step and maybe at a push Step 3 depending on interest would be included in the sub forums. You have to draw the line somewhere and I would Step 3 is an appropriate level to do so.

Regarding the FA Trophy perhaps a thread in the Sub sections for the Qualifying Rounds and then a thread in the main section from the First Round Onwards?

Yeah, it's fine how it is in my opinion. From a purely personal perspective, I wouldn't venture into two different sub forums. I do read a fair bit of the lower division stuff because it is part of the main forum, though.

Agree with Mr Stone...at the time of the old decision on TFF I had the nagging feeling that fans of the ex FL clubs were trying to put us in a separate box in order that they didn't have to come to terms with the fact that they are non league scum

Yeah yeah yeah back in your box, White Cliffs.

No strong feelings either way, though as Son of Cod says, probably wouldn't go into any sub forums as much as I read those currently part of the main thread.

Going off at a tangent, I don't get the diktat that there can't be individual match threads in the non-league forum, there doesn't seem any obvious reason for that prohibition.

It's so that we all get involved and chat about each other's matches. I remember when the old TFF mods brought it in, almost everyone was against it. It's definitely better for those who aren't at matches but listening to the radio during match time, in my opinion.

As people already said; it's been tried, and it failed.

There is a Conference South forum http://conferencesouthnomads.freeforums.org/

Also http://www.nonleagueforum.co.uk/ which seems to be a forum for fans of Conference North teams (not very active)

I used to post in the nonleagueforum when Alty were in the Conference North. It was pretty busy until a few months ago - I think they had problems with the server or host and the old forum disappeared one day. When they started a new one (or "let their guinea pig die", as the joke used to go on there) it seems that the majority of posters (myself included) never bothered to register.

If the North/South was more active then it might be a good idea but it's fine at the minute in my opinion. If one is set-up next season, it might be worth going around forums and starting a thread to get more posters.

I'd probably revisit it at the end of the season and how many would contribute.

Not for me, although there could be more requirement for it next season. The likes of Kiddy, Woking & Halifax fans will all need somewhere to post.

Playing Devil's Advocate here but there are 3 Maidstone supporters on this board (better supported than the 3 teams mentioned) and the season long thread works well.

I'm with SOC. I do like reading some of the posts re the North/South teams. I don't really see a problem as to why they can't just be posted on the main forum here. After all this section is called "Non-League Football" and it's not as if we have hundreds of new topics being started every day.

It's a shame that went as it was a busy forum. Not that I was registered, but I had a look occasionally to see what havoc a couple of Stortford supporters were causing.

I still take an interest in non-league football, and I don't think there are enough north/south posts to warrant separate sub forums.

No to segregation! Let the non league fans roam freely together!

Also, someone forgot to close a center tag. Just thought I'd drop that in.

FWIW, i think you'll have enough to stay up, but Woking are a Yo-Yo club, whose manager has spunked millions since he's been there, achieving nothing but a constant decline on the pitch and a real drop in class of the players in your squad this season.
Imagine if Eastleigh did the same, folks on here would be all over it, but no one talks about, or cares about Woking really.
You will be the big boys of the Conf South if you do go down though, so probably more in keeping with what the Woking fickle fans will flock back to?
Serious question - Do you think Hill will last this season?

I've gone no mostly because I still think a fair few Conference fans will still be interested and adding a sub forum might limit it.

Fair Enough. Seems fairly unanimous that its a no and I totally understand the reasons behind that.

Just thought it was worth asking the question. :)
I think everyone here understands what you're talking about when you mention reaching a wider audience, by the way. It could be argued that the strengths of having it combined are also a selling point, albeit one without as impressive a tagline as you were working towards with them being potentially the only dedicated Conference North/South forums.

What's most appreciated though is that you put it to us lot to decide. Genuine cheers for not just making the changes without considering that we might not want it.

Thanks mate. Dont worry would never consider such wholesale changes or any changes for that matter without consulting you guys first.

Not that sort of person and besides you are the people who make this forum what it is so it would grossly unfair of me.

Shall we have a group hug?:lol::lol:;)

Absolutely not, there isn't enough representation to warrant it for me.
