Well hopefully Page will play only half a side this evening with an eye on the proper stuff this weekend. Cannot blame Chesterfield one iota for refusing to move to Sunday, the blame for this farce lies with the powers that be. Certainly the precious Premier League wouldn,t do it but we just have to get on with it. Cant recall in recent history beating Chesterfield, last season they were easily one of the best sides at Vale Park and 2-1 flattered us when Roberts ran the show, away was a mullering and disgraceful performance. I know off here there was a lot of anti-Saunders feeling and with the players they lost i expected possible struggle but they seem like ourselves ( inconsistent ). Purely based on recent results and hoping tonight doesn,t go to extra time i will go for a 1-2 result. We really need minimum of 4 points from the this and Tuesday to continue our amazing unbeaten 2 match run but fear we may end up empty handed on saturday. Morsy class act, Raglan can,t even recall him, Jones Penis.

I'd take a point with two games in 40 hours.

We're not inconsistent; we're consistently shit. We just seem to have blagged one or two results away from home somehow. Tommy Lee mostly to thank to be honest. Could go either way.

Doing this on the train as its cheap, hopefully the beer will aid the football. Think we will lose to be honest, we are very poor and our away form/luck will run out eventually. 2-1 Vale, 500 odd rattling around in away end.

We're decent away generally (though the one I went to in the league we were utterly wank).

Surely Vale playing tonight is a huge advantage to us?

Our record v Vale in general is very good in recent years. Draw no bet at 21/20 would be my preference personally.

9/4 at Corals this morning worth a tenner of anyones hard earned. I suppose in the end we won comfortably last night but why Page didn,t make a triple sub with half hour left just to leave a bit in tank for 3 of the players. The starting 11 on Sat will probably be the same but hope to god Purkiss is fit and that Turd at right back last night is never seen again.

We have a few options but as we won no doubt Page will go with the same XI.

To be fair we played 2 games in 24 hours away from home in 2001 and won one, drew one so that's a less turn around!

Played that last week on the Thursday,Saturday,Monday,Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday so 5 games in 9 days!

Tv schedules have a lot to answer for. Bloody stupid the replay was on a thur.
If it happened in the prem the managers would be up in arms. For that reason I want vale to win as its
Not fair at all

To be fair even Saunders has labelled it ridiculous.

Middlesbrough v qpr tonight. What a lovely drive from London to Teesside on a Friday night . When do people say enough is enough of tv companies dictating fixtures ?

on subject of TV Barton, Bournemouth v Newcastle the other week 12-45pm kick off. 4.00AM start for Geordies, and in 2 weeks time Monday 7th Dec that local derby Grimsby v Shrewsbury 7-45 pm kick off. Beyond a joke, but the problem is who can deny the cash? 40 grand almost last night, money rules and we pay the price in the end.

What a lovely trip from salop to cleethorpes in the rush hour traffic. And the commentator will no doubt say " and a sparse crowd from Shrewsbury tonight"
As you say money talks and the fan comes last.

Snowed a bit last night after raining all day. Pitch is probably going to be a bit soggy.

Page plays ten of the eleven who started 40 hours ago. Nuts decision could have put Purkiss, Streete, Daniel and Uche in to keep it fresh!

Bloody hell Sam Kelly gets recalled after a poor beginning to FL career and fires us 1-0 up :)

Get in! Gutted to miss this as I'm ill but considering the massive advantage Chesterfield had to win that is a top result for us. Never thought we'd finally find a scoring combitionation with a front two of AJ and Doddsy, no idea why we only made one sub who was the keeper though!

Nice to beat Chesterfield after them having a hoodoo on us since the 5-0 win down Saltergate.

Dean, take your dull and negative, 1970's-esque approach to football and just fuck off!

Turns out the boys paid out their own pockets to stay overnight in Maidenhead to aid recovery. Great professionalism that.

Superb display by the lads given that they only played on Thursday. Chesterfield had a lot of possession but didn't trouble us that much, most of their time their crossing and shooting was woeful. AJ and Dodds are starting to show the sort of form we saw in pre-season, long may it continue.

I'm sure the manager will have at least 6 different explanations for the result.

Snow
Waterlogged pitch
Missed chances
Dodgy ref
Poor decision making
Alignment of the planets

Any others?

My take on it:

It was a horrible pitch and we were blatantly trying to get it called off. Vale looked promising in patches but tired massively in the last 20. Worked really hard though and it was a pretty comfortable victory in the end. Chesterfield have gone massively downhill since last season and only morsy looked like he had any quality. The number 6 looked Overweight to me and Dan Jones did exactly what he did at the vale. I.e. Imitating a footballer, his crossing has still not improved.

I note that Saunders thinks they dominated. Always the sign of a desperate manager when your team has just been comfortably beaten and you claim to have dominated.

We're still poor in a lot of areas and Yates is still dire at full back compared to purkiss but this league is so poor it's easy to pick up comfortable wins.

Dean Saunders interpretations of games are renowned for their reliability.

I imagine that Tommy Lee didn't have a save to make as well.

The pitch was unplayable.

Etc...

Chesterfield a shadow of the side of the side who played us off the park last season.

Pretty passing across the back but then aimless lumps forward for a majority of the game.

For a team who played less than 48 hours previously, we played well and got a deserved win. 3 league wins on the bounce now off the back of a difficult period, sums up our squad!
