Best performance of the season so far. Hope somebody sends JJ a video of the game so he sees you can still score goals when being made to play out wide, rather than have a sulk and get yourself a move.

We played very well and are improving each game, Thomas looked class today and where previous performances have been a bit patchy at times today we seemed to be much more gelled as a team.

Referee I spoke about at half time, the suggestion Thomas should of seen a second yellow for the foul second half on half way is stupid... Thomas didn't move nor have time to move and the Scunny lad collided with him, second yellow was straight forward as Grant mugged him and was about to burst away on a break before being hacked down.

What pleased me even when they were down to 9 on the rare occasions we didn't have the ball the lads were flying into the tackles and winning it back. Pleased to finally beat Scunthorpe for the first time in three decades too!

Early days but with our defence being how it is and we seem to be starting to look decent going forward we could do something this season.

For fans moaning about Hooper being loaned out "because he was out of position" his out of position replacement scored twice today :)

Graham Alexander being his usual gracious in defeat. Basically blamed it on the ref and the vale fans for influencing him. I thought there were plenty of decisions that went Scunthorpes way as well. Poor referee though.
Alexander also said they didn't deserve to lose. What planet is he on? We were the far better team on the day well before the sending off. He could have at least said vale played well and deserved the win but obviously he's just an arrogant twat

Alexander was a clown! One of the biggest cheers of the day when he finally got sent to the stands...

We will continue to take each month has it comes and try to avoid relegation in each 4 week period. For now we will enjoy the fact that there are 20 worse teams than us in League 1 :D

Why are Port Vale fans so weirdly bias? (minus MJA)

Let's see. Jerome Thomas dives, there's a booking. Jerome Thomas then gets in the refs face, there's a 2nd booking. Jerome Thomas then fouls Bishop and then pushes him, there's another booking. Jerome Thomas then breaks up a counterattacking by blocking our player, there's another booking. The Vale fans pressured the ref into decisions and he crumbled, the fact they complain about him is ridiculous.

I wasn't there Bottega Don so can't really comment.

However, if a ref becomes scared of 5,000 fans then he has no hope of progressing in the game

I've not said the ref was biased, he was just awful. I think we probably had more go against us as we were doing more stuff with that round thing but he was terrible, not biased.

Wasn't a dive hence he got in his face! Every corner your lot (no 6 especially!) was rugby tackling and nothing given. Even the goal is debatable looking at highlights.

The referee was pressured because we got on his back for countless fouls not given... How can Thomas get a second booking when he couldn't physically get out the way? That's the difference between him not getting a second yellow and your lot who made a move to stop Grant busting forward by pulling him down.

Scunthorpe came with some vile tactics and got what they deserved for it.

To be fair he consistently missed a million fouls by yet another cynical team at vale. it seems that all opposition managers have been lazy this season and assume that roughing us up because we've got a few foreigners play for us. Thankfully football won out today.

I tell you what is biased though, your prick of a manager thinking that the sending off or any other decision made an impact on the outcome of the game. We'd have won today if we'd had the best referee in the world in charge because we were the better team. And that my friend is not biased.

Just seen the highlights. Great team play and finish for the first and then great to see Jones showing lots of composure for each of his 2 goals. The challenge leading to the red card was a definite yellow card - a shit touch by their lad and then just pulled Grant down. Nice to hear Bruno talk of it being his family at the club as well - players will always play for a manager who is on their level

Scunthorpe were vile. They may have scored a lot of goals leading up until this afternoon but they spent most of the game trying to bully us (and failing) than actually getting the ball down. I'm not saying we're suddenly Barca, but I've noticed that every team we've played in the league so far seemed to have thought that roughing us up was the best way to go about things. But our foreign lads such as Knops, Tavares and De Freitas (He didn't feature today) can more than look after themselves, well even Amoros who looks like he could be a supermodel if not a footballer wasn't scared to stick his foot in. I thought he was excellent when he came on and if he continues to play like that Tavares might struggle to get back in the side once fit again.

No.
Yes.
No.

Decent enough and they'll do well. I hope I'm wrong because they were horrid.

The ref was terrible too by the way.

Scunny looked OK when they actually got the ball and played it... After twenty minutes once we got hold of the game they just resorted to poor tactics... Swindon are probably the least physical we would play and they beat us, but although Dale and Southend tried to be physical and bully us unsuccessfully Scunny just went overboard with it and the referee bottled the chance to stop it when he should of given us a penalty for a wrestling move in the box on Smith.

So far teams have been lazy not realising that we can take the physical side and we've made them look silly. The positive thing is as we improve every game I still think we have more levels to go up with this group. Amoros came on early in the game and looked classy (ex Monaco reserve captain) and Jones was superb (Birmingham loanee) taking his goals very well. To some up Scunny today look at Foley get hacked down as he plays the through ball for our third

See who this winger we are signing Tuesday is but if we can keep gelling and improving then il be delighted.

We'll see. You've just been comfortably beaten by 'relegation favourites ', I wouldn't call that the form of champions.

Plus, you're getting carried away because you had a decent ten games towards the end of last season., don't forget that you were dog shit up until Christmas.

look at us and gills last year lads, don't overdo it

We look to have far more quality that last years mid table side... If we improve on that position il be happy. Test will be when the pitches get heavy in mid winter.

You beat a team who put in their worst performance under their manager, were down to 10 men for 35 minutes and down to 9 for the last bit. Why are you getting so carried away? Port Vale looked less dangerous than Gillingham did last week who we beat 5-0.

We were well on top before you went down to ten, and il happily look less dangerous if we look as comfortable as we do defensively... I'd take that over being dangerous but leaving the back door open for five goals!

We are a total new squad of players, some who haven't played in England before, three debutants today again and look decent... Considering the upheaval getting ten points out of 15 (unlucky to lose last week too) with the injuries we also have I think we are entitled to be pleased with what we are seeing.

Each performance has been better than the last and if we keep that trend going we could do ok this season.

Incorrect. Bradford and Swindon were good sides. Bradford probably should of beat us and we were never going to win at Swindon. Its crucial we start going away from home and putting in performances similar to our home ones. Then I will start thinking that we could do things.

As for the 3 home games. Southend, Rochdale and Scunthorpe all offered nothing going forward. All three also thought they could rough us up which backfired.
