Wanted to start this nice and early. Really big game for us on Saturday - we need to win our home games if we want to get anywhere near the top 6. We've had an amazing run of form at home, losing only once all season and so my fear is that it will come to an end at some point.

After a great comeback on Saturday, the lads should be full of confidence and we should go at Burton from the off. I really don't know what to expect from Burton, they're clearly a good team having been at the top for so long but they don't have any real stars and don't score many. I assume they are just extremely well organised and drilled. They appear to have hit a slightly patchier bit of form, with just 2 wins in the last 6 but they are still quite a way ahead, so who knows? Will the pressures of a small squad and the fact that they're so close to sealing the deal get to them? Is the league so poor that even the top teams are pretty average?

We'll probably remain unchanged as it looks as though Innis will be fit for Saturday, I'd probably put AJ in there if he's fit or JJ as I fell they offer more than Robinson. We need to be nice and positive and hopefully a decent crowd will get behind the lads.

I've got a feeling we might sneak this 1-0.

Tough game but we should feel we can win based on our six month unbeaten home form and our current form (even started scoring a few goals of late too!)

Was unimpressed by Burton in the away game where we were handicapped and what I saw of their game v Southend on TV but clearly doing something right to be ahead at the top all season. Burton have conceded 10 in their last 2 visits to VP and have lost every time they've played on the hallowed turf so its been a proper bogey ground for them too.

We've scored a lot of early goals at home of late so if we can start well, get the early goal so they have to open up I feel we can win this. The belief will be through the roof after Saturdays miracle comeback and the belief that we can reach the play offs is building within the squad so lets go for it, get behind the lads and see if we can pull it off.

2-1 Vale - Foley and Moore putting us 2 up, a late goal setting up a nervous last 15 minutes but Vale hold out.

Will add that after Saturday I wish Burton all the best and hope they romp home to the title.

We had lost one at home all season and faced Rotherham, they duly beat us. Bastards.

I don't see this as a game we need anything from. We need 5 wins and 2 draw I reckon- those wins are most likely to come against Shrews, Chesterfield, Crewe, Dale n Scunny. There's 3 sides w stand out away records in this league (won 10+ on the road) and we've only played one and they absolutely dominated us. Having said that, Burton's 10 away wins have come alongside 7 losses so they can def be got at.

So umm yeh I haven't a Solomon.

With our away form i'd say win the home is imperative!

Interesting analysis from the Vale faithful, bits of truth in most of it too. Having lived in Hanley, Audley and Silverdale I'm well versed with the area and the club. We have been dreadful on every visit to Vale Park. Not expecting that this time though but you never know !
I expect us to get something from the game to be honest, our confidence is back. There should be a good atmosphere, we took not far off a 1000 to Crewe so would expect somewhere in the region of 1200 to 1500 to make the short trip for what is the football league's only Staffordshire derby.
Will there be any of my favourites available in the away snack bar ? Chayse n bacun oatcakes plus Wrights mayt n tater pies ?

Burton to win, please, although a draw would be ok.

I'll also endorse the Wrights Pies :)

Vale are good at home - no question.
But we are top for a reason.
We went to Wigan and won, we went to gillingham and won 3 0..so we can win at vale park. We have the bottle and desire.
In honesty a draw is enough for us now. And win our home games and we are up.
We should take 1500 minimum perhaps more. Be nice to break the 1900 we took to Cambridge last year

No Oatcakes at the snack bar I`m afraid, they did trial them but somehow couldn`t make it work, but there is an exceptional oatcake shop up the hill from the away end, not sure what time he shuts though. Be nice if you could bring over 1000 and isn`t Walsall also in Staffs? Hope you keep up your record of being crap in Burslem, most teams have been this season, Millwall apart.

My hope is we keep the trait of upping our game against the top sides at home! Another Southend/Burnley/Wigan/Coventry/Blades performance would send out a real statement of intent.

I fancy us whenever we are at home this season as we haven't looked like losing the record (first time since 03/04 I've felt like that at home!) but I guess that can be a dangerous feeling!

Cheers for the info about the scran, might have to nip into Oatcake Annies up Fenton on the way ! Will defo bring over a 1000.
Walsall used to be in Staffordshire(it wer when I werra lad) but now its West midlands so Burton, Vale and the Potters are the only football league clubs in the county.
To be honest we are due a performance in Boslem so if both teams turn up we could be in for a cracker with a great atmosphere to.
Whatever the result enjoy the game and a safe journey to and fro to all attending on both sides.

Would be excellent if your brought 1500 - it's more than Crewe will ever bring!

It appears that you dominated your game on Saturday (albeit against a poor Fleetwood), and that will no doubt give you some confidence after a patchy run of form. You will obviously be confident as you must be top for a reason - are you a quick passing side? Do you play on the break? Or are you just well drilled and limit the opposition to few chances? If it's the latter, we might struggle as we find it difficult to break teams down.

What gives me some hope is that you've lost 7 away though, so there is hope that you are fallible if we perform. It is also comforting that there's no Bristol City types who you expect to get beat by - it appears that you've simply picked up some nice runs of wins when you have needed them rather than thrashing teams every week. Every game is winnable this season.

To be honest, it's a credit to you that you have maintained consistency this season whilst all around you have been very hit and miss and that's what will probably take you up. I don't think anyone will catch you now as it would require too much of a turnaround.

A draw wouldn't be a disaster for us, but I'd like to get points on the board.

Reckon it'll be a draw. We always struggle massively to break down well organised defences.

1500 would be superb for a club of Burtons home crowds so plaudits for that and as said more than Crewe bring the 12 miles to Boslem! (Crewe have a decent record at VP too).

Judging by what I see stat wise Burton score as few goals as us which has been our Achilles heel most of the season (seems to have improved last few games) but are defensively solid (again similar to us) seem to win a lot 1-0 so if we can get a goal we might well get a positive result, although they'd possibly feel the same.

6/7 points out of this, Shrewsbury and Barnsley would set us up for a real chance of making the top 6 61/2 points would leave us probably needing 3 wins and a draw from the last 6 then (Crewe/Rochdale/Walsall at home, Gillingham/Scunthorpe/Chesterfield away) doable so a massive 3 games ahead.

Rochdale have as much chance of making the play-offs as we have !!

Perhaps worried we will finish 11th and them 12th.

With about 7 teams above them it would need a miracle run, you lads are probably right but to me they have bob hope

They have no chance in my opinion! Too much to make up.

We have a very slim chance of the playoffs; Vale have a better chance (and a reasonable run in).

Looking at the fixtures, our game in hand is Gillingham at home, which is not straightforward at all.

Nevertheless, we were the last team to fall out of the playoff race in both our seasons in L1 under Keith Hill, so it ain't over until the late Hattie Jacques sings... :)

Oatcakes have been on sale in the Bycars all season, unfortunately not many packs and they tend to be sold out before the game starts. I've had them before each Tuesday night match.

They're fucking shit

I was sold one with a solid block of cheese inside. A solid block of fucking cheese. Like it was a normal thing and I was the weird one for not wanting a cold oatcake with 6x2 inches of fucking cash and carry cheddar block inside it

Fuck off Vale

I don't know anyone who dislikes oatcakes. They're a bit like a savoury pancake and there are a number of Oatcake shops dotted around North Staffordshire. These shops either serve them in dozens or half dozens and you can fill and heat them up yourself or they offer them with hot fillings such as cheese or cheese and bacon. I'm telling you, you need to get these in your life - perfect for breakfast or with a fry up. I'm having some later!

You can order them from High Lane Oatcakes (search on Google) and they'll send them to you vacumn packed. Then simply add some grated cheese and perhaps some bacon, heat under a grill and enjoy! I'm telling you, you won't regret it!

People have them delivered all over the country. Usually people that have left the area, but also people that have friends here that have forced them to give them a try. Just one proper oatcake with a proper breakfast filling like leedsvaliant suggests (none of this salad or modern cuisine bollocks), is all it will take. You'll be hooked.

You get the odd weirdo saying they don't like them, but I can guarantee after interrogation you'll find that these people are either; from Crewe and refuse to like them because they hate us, or have only ever tried supermarket oatcakes which are thicker and much drier so taste like shit.

Personally, I like the whoppers (size of a dustbin lid) with bacon cheese and beans.
