Who doesn't love Friday night football?
Well, probably not Port Vale's fans, who've had to move this game due to it clashing with Stoke's home game with Aston Villa. Not a lot of fun. Their hopes of making the play offs have dipped because, as per, as soon as they get near the top 6, their inconsistency comes back to bite them. 3 games without a win now and only 1 goal scored in that time. Need to bounce back and get a win here, otherwise their season could really finish with a whimper.
As for Southend, they are well in the hunt for a top 6 spot, but their away form has taken a hit recently with back to back away defeats to Coventry and Bradford. If they are serious about making the play offs, these are the kind of games they could do with winning.
Reckon this will be a tightly fought contest and I can see it ending in a low scoring draw.
Form:
Port Vale: WLWDDL
Southend: WWWLLW

21 Aug 2010 Southend United 1-3 Port Vale League Two
09 Apr 2011 Port Vale 1-1 Southend United League Two

07 Jan 2012 Southend United 3-0 Port Vale League Two
