Translation: Drew 1-1 with Sunderland first team squad, I'm ecstatic and I'm sure we'll romp the league by at least a dozen points but I'll play things down just so my comment doesn't come back to bite me on the bum.

Following York you learn not to be confident, especially been down here for 5 years and shafted 2 years on ppg by Kings Lynn on a terrible run.

I know the feeling, the first time I was confident in all of our years down there was when our third goal went in at Nuneaton in the last game we played (and hopefully ever will play) at that level. Good luck for the season.

I remember the excitement when we beat Coventrys first team 4-1 in a preseason friendly in 2012. It was definitely our year that year.

Narrator: It wasn't their year.

our Behind closed doors friendly with Sheff Wednesday has also fallen foul of Covid.

Doesn't bode well for the season really does it?

If it's because people are isolating, they won't have to after the 16th August will they? Rules change.

Thats a good point. Although I am fully expecting a U turn (and an autumn lockdown) if cases keep going up

There's an obsession with testing in the UK. I can see the value but if hospital numbers and deaths remain fairly low and we don't have to isolate upon being in close contact, the only way forward is to make it more symptom led.

Most young people getting covid will be asymptomatic. I'm not one of these nutters saying"Covid doesn't exist" or whatever the latest conspiracy is but the reality is most will be asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. We have high case numbers but low deaths which has put the vaccines ability to good test and it is standing up very well.

Pre season 15/16 we beat a few league teams including Derby and Peterborough and everybody scoffed at us for the confidence it gave us that we would have a good season yet we were proven right by STORMING* our way to promotion.

*By finishing 21 points behind Champions Cheltenham and getting Jammy in the play off Semi Final.

All the big eared farming boys. Bright blue jeans, checked shirts. Ruddy faces, hands like shovels.

There's quite a few saddos at Hereford these days. When we played them in the NLN they limited us to 600 tickets and just about every pretend 'hard man' in Hereford turned out for them looking for trouble - though outnumbered our 'lads' held their own but the Hereford lot then started attacking pensioners getting onto the coaches.

Anybody got a link to that HMS Piss the league picture that the Vale fans had early last season before they all disappeared when they started losing?

Unfortunately Mansfield are now only rated as a ‘above average spending L2 team’ so unfortunately that victory isn’t quite enough to whip the HMS Piss The League picture.

Got me thinking how long the likes of wrexham and stockport have been stuck down here now, urgh.

I like that picture, whereas it’s undoubtedly tinpot it brings back brilliant memories like winning 12 in a row, sticking 12 past barrow in 2 games and most importantly it celebrates winning the conference and no longer being in the pit of misery.

Dilly dilly.

The truth of the matter is that for us clubs of a certain size it's a waste of time doing an overlong victory parade because (as clearly happened) at some points you are quite literally going to have one man and his dog. At least when we won the NLN we had the good sense to just go from the Town Hall to the ground which is about a mile away.

yeah, after 2 decades of following us we don’t have common sense.

At some stage i don’t think we had the 1 man and the dog either lol

Oh we are part of the furniture down here now Eveeyone else should let us and Stockport go up this season really, fairs fair. Down here its our time. Goonies never die.

You were a machine of a team that season, worthy champions. Doesn't make the picture any less funny. Its that one guy on his own cheering that makes it.

And the other guy walking in the other direction completely oblivious to what’s going on
