Our only home pre season game has been cancelled. So we now have just 5 away games.

Why would you want to get new players acclimatised to the Stadium they'll be playing half their games at.

Our pre seasons seem to become more unprofessional every year.

Chesterfield have had 'a thing' about Grimsby Town supporters for many years. I've had milk bottles lobbed at me in Chesterfield town centre, not thrown, actually lobbed so they smash on landing. Women with kids in pushchairs walking close to me too. Bloody idiots. Been spat at, again in the town centre.

Some grown man made a throat slitting gesture at me in Chesterfield once after they'd beat us in the Cup quarter final. I was 15 at the time and with my middle aged Dad.

Won 2-0 at Poole yesterday, Koszela and Lolos with the goals. One of the trialiasts was apparently Tarryn Allarakhia from Crawley.
I like Tarryn. He is a good winger who will run all day for you. Not sure if he is up to standard for you. He is let down a bit by his posture. He looks like a sad Chris Waddle as he trudged back.

Bradford at home for us tonight. I'm actually going just to get out the house after having COVID and being in isolation i'm looking for any excuse to escape.

Know a few taking that one in tonight. I would be but I'm away. Can't blame folk, first game for a long time! I saw they still want an Ayrton fut stream which I reckon is a bit steep for a friendly!

We’re at Boston tonight. Tough game, they’ve had some decent results in their pre-season so far. Giving the three remaining trialists 90 minutes - we’ve passed on Kyle Bennett.

Got to feel for Rodrigues who has got Covid and is back in isolation. He’s only just done his ten days after coming back from Holland.

Paid a tenner to watch the stream. Looking forward to seeing some of the new boys play. Probably our first proper 'test' of pre-season.

Yep same for me tonight

Decent first half there tbf, all of the new lads continuing to impress. Really like the prospect of the Oyeleke / Khan midfield partnership, it’s been a very long time since we had a midfield as mobile and dynamic as that

Don't @ me but Oyeleke is the best football player we have. Daniel Rowe some boy tho, has he failed to scored yet this pre season? Quietly confident me going into things this year

Yeah Oyeleke is absolutely quality. He came with rave reviews from Vale fans didn’t he, they just mentioned his injury troubles. Let’s hope he’s completely over them now as he is some player

Yea best player L2 and probably league above when actually fit they said. Can see why, he just controls games. Hopefully we get 30+ games out of him this year but we know his troubles don't we. All we can do is cross our fingers his body holds up because what a fucking player

Please don’t take PV fans opinions as gospel, they are Hyperbole United when it comes to their own team and players.

I think we all are aren't we to a degree. He was brilliant for us last season as well to be fair when he signed. Proper deep lying midfielder, knows the role, has banks of ability.. Just made of tracing paper and lollypop sticks. Hasn't missed too many games for us yet though to be fair

First half probably our strongest 11 vs Bradfords weakest but we played very well. That midfield will be a force at this level.

Second half we tired and Bradford changed all 11 who all seemed to be better players. Having said that though, pleased with the overall performance and very encouraged for the season.

Oyeleke, Khan, Miller, King, Clarke and Rowe all look too good for this level.

Yeah was gunna say, we’ve had him for half a season now so able to form a decent opinion and he’s been very good.

We’ve beat Bradford 2-1 tonight, good run out with our first XI dominating the majority of the first half so that was a big positive. Trialist GK made an absolute wonder save at end of game, maybe done enough for a contract!?

Liking what I’m seeing from Stefan Payne so far aswell, but don’t think some people on here are ready for that chat yet:animatedf:

Win 3-1, decent stuff. Goals from trialist Wright, Wootton and Sam. We were very dominant for an hour, less so after the mass of substitutions. Good to see us score some goals without Rodrigues, Roberts or Nemane involved in the game at all.

Matt Palmer and Joel Taylor the standouts from our new boys so far for me. The latter’s pace and directness isn’t something we had at all last season really.

Three wins from three against lower league opposition for us - you’d imagine that Derby will be a much bigger test at the weekend, but who knows with the state they’re in!

0-0 draw for us at Farsley. Loads of trialists. More on that in the transfer rumours thread shortly.

Glad Taylor’s started well, hope he kicks on and fulfils his obvious potential with you guys.

Miller looking sharp here too, really does seem like one of those rare occasions where every party is happy

Can season start Saturday.
York beat middlesborough 2-1 tonight with first playing 65 mins of game.
Beat Newcastle and drew with Sunderland first team squads.
Watson seems to of signed well
Will bound to lose to hoof ball teams like Alfreton & Kettering very soon.

Indeed - I liked Miller a lot, but my early sense is that Taylor might help make us a bit more balanced and less prone to getting caught out at the back (which I know seems weird considering that’s meant to be Taylor’s flaw haha - we have traded in our ultra attacking wing back for one that is merely very attacking). If Miller can improve his end product then he’ll play much higher than this level I think.

3-0 against Truro. Danny Wright, Louis Slough and Klaidi Lolos with the goals. Some of our kids got a workout. Would like to be typing "Koszela" a lot here over the coming season.
