Final game of ours today too, Canvey Island away. A few first teamers in the starting 11 - Nelson, Wright, Hessenthaler, Garmston & Nash - but mostly youth. We have a superb crop of youngsters coming through right now, several of which have just signed pro contracts.

Beat Canvey Island 1-0. Completes an unbeaten pre-season, which while being a pleasant thing doesn't really count for anything. Bring on next weekend!

Lost 2-0 in the end to Leeds with Kemar Roofe predictably scoring the 1st followed by a late 2nd goal (was a good strike as well) from Stuart Dallas. Decent performance by us and a decent away following as well, estimated on the radio as being between 400-500 in a crowd of 13,295.

Played Ipswich off the park beating them 6-1, could have been 7 or 8. Predictably, Holmes score two stunners. Can't emphasise enough how important him signing on is.
Don't usually read too much into friendly games but against Ipswich's strongest side, that's quite a statement.

I fully expect us to lose at home to Northampton on the opening day of the season, it's the Shrewsbury way, but hopeful we will avoid the relegation struggle this season.
