On a side note, in James Coppinger’s first game for us Ricky Ravenhill replaced him as sub, today Copps played alongside Ricky’s son Liam. I hope we can get to games soon to see Copps before he retires at the end of the season, what an absolute legend he is at Rovers.

Beat Coventry 2-1. Very impressive for 60 minutes then it was youth and triallists. Could have had 5 or 6 today.

5th straight win. This time Walsall 2-0, Ainley and Powell with first half goals.

Think next week we are off for five or six day tour in Scotland, believed to be Scotland. Have no idea if they are playing anyone, obviously not Scottish first teams.

Edited: that should be Glasgow.

Can't believe people commentating on friendly matches. They are purely to get the players fitness levels up and to try out formations for the coming season. People stating we 2 nil or we were brilliant --- Who cares.

I imagine everyone’s pretty pleased to have some kind of normality back in football.

You could just avoid the whole thread if you aren’t interested. It is called the Pre-Season thread after all, so it’s hardly surprising people might be posting about their teams in pre-season games!!

Exactly. I remember fondly the L2 versions of this thread a few years ago when tables and all sorts were calculated. You guys and Daggers fans in particular gave us some close season fun with all the faux outrage that number of games played, level of competition faced, etc, etc, should be taken into account. More innocent times I guess.

I think you have to be a bit lenient with people bearing in mind the way the last season ended and all the Covid stuff. As PuB says, some fans are just delighted to have games back and so this pre-season is just a bit different to previous ones.

Our PSF line-up seems to be Salford(?!), Leicester, Scunthorpe, Mansfield and Forest.

Don't know why we bother with Forest because they've cancelled at last minute in the previous 3 seasons.

Lost to Salford 1-0 in our first PSF. Some decent passages of play in amongst it, can tell we haven't played in 5 months!

Two friendlies for us tonight. Half the squad are playing Nantwich Town whilst the other half are at Witton Albion.

Beat Man Utd U23s 2-0, apparently. No details whatsoever.
Edit. Payne and Twine scorers

Shitty way to treat fans - especially as I can’t think of a single reason for them to request a media blackout.

Good of Salford to stream it.

Didn't tell us anything we didn't know - that we can't go into a season with one striker.

Played seniors first half and kids second.
Good run out
All about getting fitness levels up and getting to know each other at this stage, very little else.

We’ve got a friendly this Saturday at Ashton Utd and fans are allowed!

Only 300, but still . . .
