I can't believe people are predicting their starting line ups when pre-season has only just kicked off and the start of the season is over a month away. A mod should come and lock this down. What next, predicting Exeter's manager in 2056?

I'm locking everything. Too much discussion. The League 2 forum shall reopen on the 1st of August. Kenny End will have to inform you all of Luton's daily signings elsewhere.

With our resources about 4 or 5. I can remember when teams only had one sub and if your keeper got injured you were fucked.
I can remember when Barrow had Bobby Knox as eternal sub - possibly better keeper than no 9 but Fred Else never got subbed. Liam Hughes is the 21st century's Bobby Knox but Bobby has his place in history as the first sub to score.

I hope for your sake you dont put Tozer at RB. He is a CB all day long. Can provide cover at RB but gets found out there.

We haven't got another right back at the moment so he'd have to play there, however i'd expect us to sign a specialist in that position before long

A Goalkeeper
A Left back
A Right back
A Centre back x2
A Midfielder x4
A Striker x2.

Oh, and 7 or so on the bench.

I strongly suspect we won't be playing with full backs too often this season, at least to start with

Yeah, 3-4-3 of some sort looks favourite. Which right now would be:

Akinfenwa Elliott Barcham
Rigg Reeves Bulman Francombe
Meades Nightingale Osborne
Shea

Fuller and Kennedy certainties for the bench as fullbacks, both to come in if 4-4-2.

Probably two more quality players - a centre-half and goalscoring forward - to add to the squad though.

Is that McGeehan in behind the striker?

Never said he couldn't play there, just that I don't think his long-term future is there due to his technical limitations. You need more than enthusiasm and work rate to play so high up the pitch at higher levels than League Two, which I'm sure McGeehan aspires to whether with us or another team.

At any rate, that team set-up was before our latest binge of signings. I'm thinking now we won't be playing with a 10 very often. Looking at the new signings, I actually think McGeehan will have to settle for a spot on the bench - at least to begin with.

Obviously the hope is that the unknown striker will be Mackail-Smith, we'll have to wait and see on that front. Benson to rotate/as a different option. No idea who the other central defender will be currently, I would have had Macca nailed on until the signings of Okuonghae and O'Brien, now I don't even know if Sumo will be at the club come August.

That would be my guess on our first team for the season. What will be interesting to see is what happens to our bench should we complete a couple more signings, another CB and midfielder. I think Muggleton would stay because of his long throw, so it could well be Vilhete and Gambin that drop out which would be a shame if that happened. Our last two, more creative and skillful players, not even making an 18 man match day squad.

If I know Ainsworth we will line up 9-0-1 with a midget up front to contest high balls

4-2-3-1 - Interested to see how these pair of SPL wingers do. Carey looks quality on YouTube. Id say our defence is currently even stronger than last season which is a very good sign. Could do with another midfielder and someone to battle with Harvey for CAM.

With a front two of Green & westcarr opposed to last seasons Palmer & Rhead. A pacey skilful winger like Thomas compared to Junior Brown. A midfielder like chapman who can actually play football and be creative and a back two of pearce and collins who both don't just hoof it like Sutton and riley and an actual goalkeeper with good league experience I'm actually looking forward to this season, don't think we will be right at the top but we will improve on last season. Especially if we play the attractive football murray wants.. No more Hoofball FC!!

Not sure if this is the same for all the clubs with multiple summer signings. For me what I like right now about us is I can only see two names nailed on starters - perhaps only one! Tyler (I expect to start but will have increasing pressure this season) and Doyle.

Smith maybe sacrificed for a more advanced player at times if Still trusts the back four more IF McNulty is eased out. The extra defensive player was needed to protect his lack of pace and lack of turning ability if the opposition weren't shut down to stop the passes slid into the channels. That may now be deemed surplus in many games allowing for more attacking options with two of McGeehan, Pelly or McCourt in midfield with three striking options.

Obv too early yet for most to nail any teams down with lots of business to be concluded round the League and a ton of friendlies to allow the managements thoughts to trickle through.

2 out and out wingers for the first time in a while. Hope Nichols isnt too isolated up top on his own... On the plus side there should be plenty of space in the box for him to make some room for himself. :)

This is a hard one as we're still 2-3 signings short in key areas, but at present, I'd guess something like:

--------------------------Cousins

Passley----Partridge----Nosworthy----Widdowson

----------------Boucaud--------Richards--------------
------------------------Raymond---------------------------

Hemmings-----------Cureton-------------Chambers

As the season winds on though, I'd expect perhaps:

---------------------------------Cousins

Passley------------New CB---------Nosworthy------Widdowson

---------------------Boucaud---------Richards------------------------
-------------------------------New CM-----------------------------------

Hemmings--------------Cureton/McClure----------Hines

Cox - McCallum - Simpson
McAnuff - Moore - James
Shaw - Essam - Baudry - Clohessey
Cisak

Subs:
Woods, Dunne, Lee, Pritchard, Turgott, Kashket, Palmer

Expect a couple more signings.

I think my previous selection is still favourite but I'm not 100% convinced Lisbie will get the start as Gash is really making an effort to get noticed, he's half the man he was last season.
