I got injured also, fell off me chair falling asleep watching.
I know we have to have them, but P Season friendlies are.......................................
That’s why using the Pizza cup instead would make sense, let the PL children play as long ads EFL clubs can use up-to 5 trialists per game

They have the group games in the Scottish equivalent before the start, no idea why we don’t to save some Tuesdays. Then we could have a few more Tuesday night games in September/October rather than December/February.

But this would make sense... wouldn't want everyone thinking the EFL bigwigs were a sensible outfit now would we??

2-0 Hibs just after HT.
Elie Youan looked the best player in the 45 mins by a country mile.

both teams should be heavily fined and have a points deduction for playing 3 x 30min periods though.
* the ref was on his mobile for the full 5-10 mins between the 2nd and 3rd periods pleading with anyone to take over - but had no takers - poor guy.

You had nowt better to do today?

We played our first pre-season game today.

Lost 1-0 behind closed doors at Burnley's training ground. Scorer in the 13th minute was Scott Twine, once of this division.

Both teams made numerous changes - Burnley swapped their first team for their U23s at HT, Dale made 10 changes at the same time.

Our team included four of the Trialist family:
A is a midfielder/winger/forward who played the first 70 minutes. B is a goalie, C a left wing back or right midfielder and D a midfielder or forward, these three getting the second half. Messrs Jesus, Watts and Yaduat from our youth team also got a game in the 2nd half.

First friendly tonight, away at San Mames against Athletic Club.

Should be a good work out.

you spelt Penrith wrong.
it's not looking good for Jamie Devitt if he's one of the 5 you have missing through injury already.

Feel for him. He probably could have got a contract already at another club, but wanted to come back as a trialist to prove his fitness. Unless it’s just a minor day or so injury, I’d say it’s not looking likely that he’ll get a deal, sadly.

We've secured our first trophy of the season this evening retaining the annual Tom Banks Memorial Trophy beating Bradford Park Avenue 2-0. Comfortable first run out of pre season with new signings Chapman and Harratt scoring

Beat Haringey Borough 2-1 with goals Anthony Georgiou and Daniel Nkrumah.

Standard first friendly stuff tbh, two teams played in each half which edged in both halfs.

We had a few players missing through injuries.

Harry Smith didn't play but was at the game following links with Gillingham.

I forgot to mention. Due to our warm weather trek to Spain to help us cope with England in December we will no longer be playing the Sutton Comman friendly previously announced.

I know there must be actual reasons to go to Spain etc but I've Hever understood it.

You play with a ball, train with one. You play in driving rain, high winds and snow, train in 120° heat.:dk:

Personally, a trip to Tromse at this time of year may be a better idea.

If you've trained in hotter climes, you'll feel it quicker than in our moderate climes. Therefore when you go back to moderate climes, it will theoretically feel easier. Not sure how this long the benefit of this effect actually last for though.

Personally, if the resource was there and you wanted to get a group of lads as fit as possible, I'd get them training in a high altitude country in like South America.

When they came back to play at Blundell Park etc right on the coast, it'll feel like they had two lungs.

In reality, I don't think any club has the right time or money to pull this off. Even PL teams. Not a long enough off-season.

We've got our 1st psf today, our traditional game against local side Holker Old Boys (they finished 2nd in their league last season behind the phoenix Bury team). We have had some trialists in this week (no names yet) including some from PL Academies and some will play a part today.

Who were you meant to be playing KKK United?
SC Qatar.

The same lot that Salop and Watford fans kicked off about.

Seems two faced in a lot of ways to me. Football (worldwide) will happily take Qatari money but don't let them into the club.

H/T in our friendly v Melksham 2-2 with zero first team players playing which is a bit strange. 7 x Triallists. Presume they’ll get some minutes in the 2nd half.

Crawley are playing Eastbourne Borough today. Not a bad side are Eastbourne, a good start to the friendlies.

Nichols has hit the post but still 0-0 the last time I looked. I'm off to a bbq. Beer and grub and I really don't care if we win or lose but it will be good to hear of a decent display.

Nuneaton 0-4 County at half time, one of their players sounds a bit frustrated...

Edit - deleted now, was just a video of one of the home players questioning the choice of opponents for their first friendly in rather industrial terms.

Finished 2-3. No first team players got in the pitch at all. Weird
