As ever with United currently, they somehow get the job done despite looking utterly dire.

It's one of those where the player either jumps over the keeper and falls over/dives or gets clattered by the keeper. They are usually given as a penalty these days.

Can only pray United find some decent form before the Arsenal tie.

24 thousand. 16-12 thousand fans added on. Crikey. Decent money for Preston.

Granted, but what else does he do, keep going and let the keeper clatter him?

He wouldn't have clattered him in that instance, he'd have tripped him up which Rooney did himself to convince the ref anyway. Might as well take the contact in a case like that.

Jesus christ, that dive was clear as day. 20 years ago you got clattered. Now it's acceptable to dive to avoid getting a kick. I can just about stomach all the foreigners throwing themselves about and rolling around like they've been shot but now it's English players aswell.

We're absolutely shite yet we've lost one game in nineteen, stretching back to November. It might be fucking dire to watch, I don't know why neutrals bother watching us, but it's relatively functional at the moment.

Do that and you run the risk of injury. Better to convince the ref there is a trip.

Or just jump over him instead of diving like his legs have been pulled.

But he wouldn't get a pen for that.:dk:

How utterly embarrassing United are - foul, offside and a dive for their goals.

Good effort Knobbers, exactly as a thought. Organised and tidy. But very little creative quality and rely on Joe Garner to do something each game. Can't see you getting automatics.

I really struggle to decide whether its the manager doing a good functional job from poor limited players, or good players improving a poor manager.

Somehow it just about works.

What is Kevin Kilbane talking about? 100% penalty. Rooney made a meal but you can't fly out like that.

Suprised you didn't bring up Suarez. Trying to defend a cheat by giving past examples.

What's the point of bringing Suarez into the argument, he's one of Liverpool's old divers. Gerrard is still a current one, and yes, he will do it again.

I've got a theory I'd like to test out on you guys. I reckon Falcao gave himself away tonight. We now know he has serious eyesight issues. Do you, like me, reckon that when he saw his contract papers and clocked that £265k a week wage written down his eyes popped out of his head like a cartoon and did serious, irrevocable damage to the optical nerve?

It would explain a hell of a lot.

The First goal was not offside and the second was not a foul.
It was offside - read the law, Keown was talking bollocks.

The second may have been given as a foul though it's not always given and the third may have been a dive but was always going to be a penalty when the kepper does that.

How was he off? Rooney wasn't in the way. I can't understand why the keeper stopped, had Rooney touched it the flag would have gone up.

The keeper was very stupid in both incidents. Firstly he should follow the line of the ball not what Rooney may or may not do, it would have been a joke to rule that goal out. Keeper should trust in the officials as if Rooney touches it he will be flagged offside. Follow the ball and he saves it. As for the pen, it probably is a penalty, keeper comes flying out nowhere near the ball. Any striker in the country would go down there.

Besides which, the worst decision of the night was not to send Davies off. BBC didn't even mention it after the match. The most blatant second yellow you'll ever see and Dowd knew it was.

But he's got to think about Rooney's position. If he saves is and there's a rebound, or of the officials do fuck up. Rooney being there altered how he could react to the situation.

True but I'd still want my goalie to do his main job though. The ball was there to be saved, just save it. Or maybe he's just a shite goalie and that was his 'full' dive!

Lol. Attempting to smash someone in the box is 100% a foul. Rooney had to move. Or he'd have been clattered.

Bollocks. He plants his front foot down fine after the keeper misses him then makes sure he kicks the ground to go head over heels. He could easily have kept his footing but he knew he was going nowhere.
