No, not an April Fool.

Just watched the 3-1 win for PNE in 2002 on Sky Gold - cracking game. Riccardo Fuller et al.

Followed by Wolves v PNE 2006.

Never understood why our 4-3 win against Leicester in the PO Final had not been on

Ricardo Fuller before his knee injuries was without doubt the best player I saw play in the Championship. I include the likes of Dean Ashton and Yakubu in that.

Credit to him for adapting his game into more of a target man role and going on to play more than 100 games in the Prem with Stoke. Was never the same after his operations though, he could have gone on to have a superb career.

I didn't see the Burnley one (seen it before tho) but I saw the Wolves one.

I was in Lanzarote for the Wolves game and I remember watching it in a bar, Nugent and Whaley absolutely tore them apart that day.

Ricardo Fuller is without a doubt the most exciting player I have ever seen at Deepdale in the past 20 odd years I have been going on. What a talent.

As for the Wolves game. As Tom has said above, Nugent and Whaley were awesome that game. Whaley has since been released by chorley I'm led to believe?! What a waste.

We should have made the Premier League with that side under Billy Davies :dk::dk::dk:

So, what was the main reason for your slump from those years

Shit managers who wasted shit loads of money on shit players, sanctioned by that clueless spaz, Derek Shaw

Was that the play off final that didn't actually count?

Yep. Real heartstopper. 3-0 up, they bring it back to 3-3 and we get a dodgy winning pen.

They showed that the other day on a feature on Glenn Hoddle. Some game!

In 2005 Preston should have gone up no doubt and had a player named Eddie Lewis who I thought was outstanding at that time in the Championship. Would have liked to have seen them up there to be fair.

Eddie Lewis was fantastic. The c***.

Sky used to show us against Burnley pretty much every time we played, then as soon as they didn't, we won 5-3 in one of the best games I've ever seen

Eddie Lewis was awesome (his debut aside). Along with David Healy though, a Kint.

Fuller bagged a hat trick against the Dingles in that 5-3 win, what a guy. Hope were playing Clarets again next season, good times

Yeah we should have gone up, best defence in the league conceding 28 goals in 46 games or something like that. And Nugent up top.

What a player Eddie Lewis was, Craig Brown brought some really outstanding players to PNE.....and Billy Davies.

He also signed some terrible players and was a turd manager but we'll stay positive..

Was that the Play off final where after the game the Swine fans went home and smashed up their own town centre, or am I thinking of another one?
Or was that the one where after getting promoted you then got relegated again for making illegal payments to players?

Oh I don't know, I get so confused over Swindon's colourful past.

Don't know - so many play off finals to remember.

Especially that one at Selhurst Park where we battered some ragtag outfit.

I wonder whatever happened to them

No, you are wrong.
The officials made a mistake and away goals did count in the two legged final so there was no need for a replay.
Selhurst Park never happened.
Never.

Craig Brown signed many of those players, a good side, eddie lewis, mears, fuller, nugent all could have, (some did), played for us in the premier league.
I dont want to tempt fate but what a league the championship could be next season, blackburn, burnley, bolton plus the likes of boro, big clubs such as as Leicester and derby etc.. May even fork out for my first season ticket since 1995.. A long way to go yet though..
