Ryan could have gone yea, but I mean he was being fouled for days by that youth. Blow the whistle there and nothing happens. I never understand this rule in football. You can foul, foul, foul, dive, dive dive, but god forbid someone responds to it. It's a natural reaction IMO. Football could learn a lot from ice hockey on that front

On the game... we need a fucking striker. I bet we controlled 70% of the ball in that game but we lose to a poxy fucking goal when we were just feeling ourselves into it. That's the game I guess, you play like shit, even for 10 minutes, you get punished. Thought Preston held their shape really well, but were lucky as well. All we needed was 1 ball or deflection to drop nicely but it just didn't happen

I think Preston really could have got a 2nd if they'd of pushed on - but as SF_ said - defensively, Preston are sound, and tonight they could afford to sit back on that 1 goal lead.

It's massive advantage Preston, and it's a fantastic result to be taking into a home leg.

Chesterfield were very nervy at the start, but grew into the game - and really put pressure on the Preston goal.

Poised perfectly for Sunday mind - I'm sure Chesterfield will come and have a right go, which will make for an interesting watch.

Aye maybe it's natural to elbow someone in the face in chesterfield but it's not natural anywhere else in the world.

I'm pretty angry right now :(

Dave Allen and his puppet Chris Turner have sold us up for the price of a half competent striker. If we'd had someone to shoot we'd have won that. As it is the lack of any reinvestment from player sales has driven Cookie (to engineer a move) away, and I'm pretty sure we'll be asset-stripped in the summer ready for sale. Lump on us for Leyton Orient-style relegation next season.

I'd even rather have the nutty Italians right now ....

Stop chatting so much fucking shite you fucking idiot.

I can't fucking stand Grayson, you'd think we had the smallest budget in the league the way he sets us up.

Do you ever stop and listen rather than talking shite yourself?

You know nothing about football and should cease spouting your shit immediately. At least I'm actually taking the piss most of the time when I post, you actually *believe* the bullshit you type and its fucking embarrassing to be associated with you.

its definitely weird. With 2 of the best strikers in the league up front, you'd have thought he'd give them more to feed off. If Garner scored so many at Preston playing like that, imagine what he'll do at a side looking to attack!

In a lot of ways our entire season squeezed into a game. A lot of the play, nice football until we reach the opposition box and of course, a defensive fuck-up.

We started really badly, gifted them an early foot-up, which is unforgivable given the disappointment they had on Sunday, it should have been us looking to get at them early on.

Dan Gardner was really poor against Sheff Utd and shouldn't have played tonight for me, he had another stinker and Cook should have taken him off much sooner. I don't want to criticise too much though, the players couldn't be faulted for lack of effort etc but you just never felt a goal was forthcoming. It was always going to be a tough ask against a good side, after tonight, it's a monumental ask and one which is probably beyond us.

Looked like Cook saying goodbye at the end as well.

Please sign on a permanent Beckford :)

On Chesterfield, a nice tody footballing side who i thought looked very vulnerable at the back had we exposed them a bit more. For all there possesion never really created any clear cut chances. They need a Eoin Doyle.

On PNE, Fantastic at the back, poor on the ball as Gally and DJ have failed to get on the ball and compose them selves in the last couple of games.

All in all, a cracking win against a good side. Onto Sunday, potential riots if we somehow bottle it

I didn't like Gardner starting either... but then I looked at the options

We need another quality player who can float out out wide and shit, because Banks and Gardner are L2 at best for me. Keep our guys, add a good striker, and another attacking midfield, and we're nearly there

We don't play against sides without strikers every week so sometimes we venture forward a bit, when required

Garner would be laughing in our side this season - but I think tonight didn't represent Garner and Preston as a whole this season.

They clearly had a gameplan - to take the lead, and defend it with their lives, throwing everything infront of the ball.

It worked - and I'm sure Garner will look better in the return leg, they will have a more attacking mindset (you'd think anyway) and he will have more to feed off.

Yeah Preston have Garner and Beckford. We have......erm........uh..........

I like Clucas and he's more than capable of "doing a job" up there just perhaps not against a well-drilled side like Preston.

he's a midfielder int he, it's unfiar on him to expect him to run the line IMO. He comes deep to get the ball and shit, which usually means NOBODY is up top. We have to build gradually to let our front 4 get up there first

Either lucky as fuck, or a Mourinho style 1-0 classic away win. Still yet to make my mind up.

Crucial Kilkenny came on when he did to calm things down. Looked a tiny bit better after that. I'd be tempted to drop Johnson or Gallagher for him on Sunday, but I'm not the gaffer.

They should have had only ten men on, but can count themselves unlucky not to get a draw. Let's hope we do our job Sunday now.

Preston shit c*** diving about. Hope we smash the defensive lucky wankstains at their place. The place where they have to limit away fans in case they create too much atmosphere.

Hope you didn't get a ticket mate.

Should have put the house on that outcome really, it went entirely to the script played out at every other home game this season against the top four....we huff and puff but don't score and our soft centre haunts us.

I look forward to the monumental, legendary away performance needed to see us to Wembley on the 24th.
