Comparing Arsenal and Liverpool is interesting. Arsenal's cheapest match day ticket is £10 cheaper than Liverpool's cheapest but Arsenal's cheapest season ticket is nearly £300 more than Liverpool's most expensive. And over £2k for a season ticket if you buy their most expensive? Madness.

Comparing the cheapest and the most expensive is daft anyway. Offer one ticket at £10 and that's your cheapest, even if every other is £40. The average prices are probably the most useful metrics, be that mean, median or mode.

There are more Arsenal fans than Manchester City fans. Arsenal play in an affluent area of the UK where supporters are likely to have more disposable income. Supply and demand means you'd expect Arsenal's prices would be higher.

My reasoning would be this...

Arsenal have been a bigger club for a lot longer than City, the prices have gradually increased over the decades (And yes being in an affluent area helps push this up). However City have only recently come to the table with money and European football, they'd have no chance of hiking the prices up to Arsenal's level in such a short space of time as the Etihad would be emptier than it is now.

Once the owners initiate phase 2, which will no doubt be turning the club into a profit making company, then the prices will slowly start to rise above inflation (if not already).

Arsenal season tickets include cup games unlike most other clubs. Over the past few seasons, there have been a few other clubs who have had more expensive season tickets per match than Arsenal. Not sure if that includes Liverpool but I'm pretty sure it includes Chelsea and Spurs from memory. It's still ridiculous but that's London for you.

I pay £880 for my season ticket. I pay it in installments which helps. I don't have many bills atm...it's pretty much phone and season ticket. I Imagine once I'm back from travelling and I'm looking for my own place I'll give up my ticket.

With the improved TV deal clubs aren't relying so heavily on money coming through the turnstiles....If they cared they'd cap all match tickets at £30.
