So tonight at 10 the BBC will once again release the annual price of football statistics. And once again people will complain that our pies are the most expensive.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34526423

If only they did some sort of value, such as at least measuring the pie weight. I'm sure then Kiddy would be at worst mid-table on that front if not one of the best. It's weird, but at least it gives you a bit of national media every season, hopefully they will point out the difference between the pies at yours and the next most expensive which is generally a prepackaged crap in pastry.

It's a Cottage Pie for Christ's sake, the best food I've ever had in football. It's the main reason I can't wait for Boxing Day.

It really annoys me that the BBC get this so wrong.

I actually argued the point with one of the gambling websites twitter accounts, they haven't got a clue was you drop below the prem/champioship. think for a pie and kiddy season you could get a comparative barca season ticket etc. one of them up at the top of there third tier miles away from the pitch with a different climate (further than a Gateshead home match seat)

never had the pies but the other option have all ways been class.

Haven't been to Kiddy for a good few years now but they always had the best food in football. I was gutted when they got relegated, they deserved a place in the Football League for the standard of their food alone.

Agreed.

It is hardly fair to compare the food at Kiddy, which is both plentiful and tasty, with the pukka type pie you get at many grounds or the little meat pie they serve up in Scotland. We didn't have a pie the last time they conducted the survey, but we do this year. I have had a couple of them, served with mashed spud, peas, fried leek and gravy...very tasty, a proper meal, but it isn't cheap. I guess we will be highlighted as having one of the most expensive pies in the country, quality often comes at a cost, but the media usually only pick up on half a story so I don't expect this one to be any different.

Ah! I wondered why we had suddenly started selling pies!

No idea what price Kidderminster are charging for their pies, but they've gotta be better VFM than our £3 for a Pukka.

Problem with these things is that people take a quick glance at prices and make an immediate decision.

For example, ours will be at £18 but if you've always planned on getting to the game, you'd be stupid to pay that. You can order you tickets over the phone without a card charge for £16 and collect on the day. Our hot drinks and food will be 'x' amount but we don't control the pricing of food in the Stadium - the space is just leased out etc etc

That sounds pretty nice. When you go somewhere like Kiddy who offer good food you don't mind paying a bit more. I haven't bought any food at the Racecourse for years, If I'm hungry I settle for a Yorkie. It always used to be the standard overpriced not very good stuff and from what I see people eating I doesn't look like it's changed. No excuse for it in this day and age.

Compared to the rest of the league, our cheapest ticket price is the most dearest of all the cheapest. I could have probably worded that better.

Elsewhere, Sunderland in the top 5 for most expensive cup of tea. They ain't kidding!

According to the link above, I spend £651.40...although that includes BT Sport which, unless you are an average armchair Premier League fan, hardly counts as supporting my club.

I indulged in one of your steak pies this evening and very nice it was too at a not too unreasonable £2.60.
An enjoyable evening all told, your stewards were great, very friendly and knowledgeable :)

So according to this we have the 3rd lowest cheapest season ticket, which left at that looks pretty good.

However, if I was looking to do some strat planning for the coming seasons, i'd look at that list and think we're potentially undercharging, why not get closer to the league average? Could be worth and an extra ~£25 per ticket, over 600 sales is an extra £15k. But then i'd also expect everyone else to look at it the same way and before you know it the average next year is actually £25 higher again so again leaves room to increase. It only takes a couple of years and prices could end up too high.

Basically what i'm saying is, there's no need whatsoever for the BBC to reporting this.

Totally agree. Even our local rag has written this today.

"It's not good news if you're a hungry Kidderminster fan though.
Not only are your team bottom of the league, but you'll have to shell out a whopping £4.50 to get yourself a tasty half-time treat."

I'd counter that by saying the only good thing about being a Kiddy fan at the minute is the half-time pie! Seems that a pie is a pie in the eyes of whoever does this survey, whether it's an insipid bit of pastry with a bit of gristle in it or a superb cottage pie like the ones at Kiddy.

Pies weren't so good this year, basically all Pastry and served very cold..

Errm, not sure if you're having a laugh here but there is no pastry in a cottage pie!!

I spent 1400 pounds on Bristol rovers last season according to that link. It was probably more because the survey doesn't include travel and sundries. Bloody hell

The bit on our match day prices is a load of rubbish isn't it Luke?
If you buy a 6 pack ticket it then costs you £15 to get in or buy a Bob's Bakers Dozen its £13.85.
I take my daughter in the family area and she's a Poacher's club member she gets in for £2 and I get in for £8.
So someone didn't research this very well at all.

The clubs provide the information... (hence no info for Swansea after they opted not to take part)

I think he means 'load of rubbish' as in, yes, it's correct but it's hardly delved into the pricing structure of the Club (or any others).

Spot on I'm sure the club wouldn't have told our dearest and cheapest tickets are the same price?
Very odd
All our ticket price offers are on the club website.

I was more responding to the "someone didn't do their research" part of it...

Perhaps it was excluding any special offers or membership based discounts. While it doesn't reflect the true cost, it does reflect the price that someone who would go on the day would pay.

The cost of a Halifax replica kit! Outside of the Premier League there's only one club who charges more in Blackburn, by 4p.
