So, let's at least give him a chance. 1st order of business: Get rid of the dead wood.

Quite - if he has some success the fans won’t care too much .

But will have to start well!

Good start but couple of bad defeats and there are some knives out.

Probably unfair but that is what it will be like for him at Everton.

Everton relegation battle this season? Incompetent board, incompetent owner, poor manager, and a lot of deadwood in the team.

Also, Everton have the worst record in this division at this moment. 4 games ahead against Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Leicester City, and could easily get 0 from 12 considering the quality of Everton's opponents and Everton's squad. Could easily see them in the relegation zone by the end of the calendar year.

Reminds me of Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County in the Championship, gambling with the club's future in order to get more money, which was promotion to the Premier League for Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County and entry into the Champions League for Everton.

They can't spend money because of FFP, unless they sell some of their players, which they can't because of high wages.
I suppose Richarlison might go as he has been linked elsewhere but who else ?

DCL has been suggested as another person to leave on the various Everton forums as well, but really shows the state of Everton if they are having to let key members of their squad leave in order to finance new spending.

We are absolutely fucked as a club under the current clueless owner and whatever remains of our board after the departures of Brand and Bassett-Baxendale. Moshiri and Kenwright have been acting as de facto DoFs for our club, constantly overruling our actual DoFs Steve Walsh (who has succeeded at Leicester City) and Marcel Brand (who has succeeded at PSV), preventing them from doing their actual jobs, and bringing in expensive crap players on high wages such as Alex Iwobi. We now cannot afford to offload the deadwood players because no other club would accept paying such high wages, and we cannot afford to strengthen in any of our positions because that would break FFP rules.

Then over the summer Moshiri decided to bring Benitez into our club against the wishes of both Brand and Bassett-Baxendale, which has divided our fanbase and caused the atmosphere at our club to become toxic. Benitez is a washed up manager who has not succeeded anywhere after leaving Liverpool, having done poorly at Inter Milan and Real Madrid and only being able to get jobs at Newcastle United and in China because no other decent team is willing to let him manage their team due to his failure.

Now after the Liverpool defeat (8 games without a win), our clueless owner has decided to double down on his decision and back Benitez and give him control over the transfers. As a result, Marcel Brand and our CEO Denise Bassett-Baxendale, the two people on our board who actually have a clue about football and care about improving the club and its result, are leaving the club, Brand immediately, and Bassett-Baxendale whenever they find another person to be on the board, because there are now only 3 people on our board with Brand's departure, Bassett-Baxendale, Kenwright, and Ingalls. Ingalls is still new to the board, and Kenwright has been here for 27 years and has been beyond useless during the 27 years.

We are now sinking like a stone down the table with a tough row of games coming ahead (Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Chelsea) and which could see us in the relegation zone by the end of the year. Now that we have lost Brands and Bassett-Baxendale, even if we end up sacking Benitez and survive this year's relegation battle, next year would be yet another relegation battle under Moshiri and Kenwright because of the issues mentioned above. We're basically Randy Lerner's Aston Villa at the moment, and if we do end up getting relegated into the Champonship, it would be a disaster for our club financially and could lead to administration.

We have a protest planned at our home game vs Arsenal on Monday the 6th, where we plan on getting out of our seats and either head towards the concourse or leave the stadium on the 27th minute of the game to signal to the owner and the board that we will not tolerate their mismanagement of our club.

Everton fans are really not happy with their board.

If this had been Newcastle, the cacophony of ranting bile and spite by the media against the fans would have been deafening. Because it's a Merseyside club, they look the other way or pretend it never happened

I live in Chester and know a lot of Everton fans (peace be upon them) and without exception they are blaming Kenwright. He is Everton's Matt Busby. They really need him away from any decision making at the club. They reall are a laughing stock.
