All in all, Johnson was a good player for us. Quality right back a few years ago and often heavily underrated. Turned to shit last season though.

Johnson is now shite. But the truth is previously he was neither as good as some Liverpool fans made out or as shit as some other fans made out. See poster above for examples of the latter.

Yes, come see me lads. I know what I'm talking about and I'm not at all biased on the matter. I'm more than happy to fill anyone in on why a defender who has never been able to defend is not a good defender. Cheers.

Swap him for Lavezzi?
Nope. I wouldn't have minded getting Lavezzi at Liverpool when they were linked with him but his form has plummeted off a cliff this year has it not?

Johnson's main contribution (along with Skrtel it has to be said though he's been immense this season tbf) was costing Liverpool the league last year. He's just a complete liability and the quicker he's off the better and it frees up considerable funds for another players wages.

Yes, the poor lamb. I don't know how a 20 year-old gets by on over £1.5m per annum before sponsorship money.

The martyr Ronaldo was right, footballers are basically slaves.

I don’t think the vast amounts players earn is a good thing in regards to the connotations of high ticket prices etc. However, at least players are the ones actually kicking the ball. If you think all your season ticket & sky subscription money goes into the likes of Wayne Rooney’s pockets then you need to consider all the needless agents, executives and who knows what riding the football gravy train with the football fans as the cash cows.

Now in terms of this specific case, from Sterling’s personal perspective I can understand if he feels a bit patronised by the whole “He’s a young kid who shouldn't be on wages that are as high as some other players, because it will go to his head” angle he has heard from Brendan Rodgers and others.

Firstly, I think if you are silly with money, and likely to end up bankrupt like for example Lee Hendrie despite big wages- it won’t make you more careful with money if you are earning £100K a week rather than £150K a week in my opinion.

Secondly, a footballer’s career is short, not to mention the fact that on any given weekend you could get a career threatening injury which could mean your current contract is your last one. No one knows what is round the corner, football is very competitive and ruthless. If you aren’t up to scratch physically you can forget your massive wage once your contract runs out. So I can understand why Raheem wants to make as much money as he can whilst he is ahead.

If Arsenal beat Liverpool next week the little scamp will have a huge bargaining chip. 'No CL? Fuck you, pay me.'

Looks like he's on a classic contractual dispute "go slow" to me.

Got Liverpool exactly where he wants them.

Difficult situation for Liverpool. Do they let 20 year boss the negotiations or cut ties then invest elsewhere. Sterling has endless potential, so I'll be amazed if they don't cave in to his demands.

It really depends who wants to buy him. Selling him to Arsenal would be a terrible decision I think, because realistically they're the team that Liverpool need to force out of the top four, because Chelsea, City and United all have the resources to stay there in the long run.

A more glamorous Walker. He could never defend, which has given us great laughs over the years. Fair play to the lad.'

Luckily we now have a good enough rb for England

Back then he was. :2thumb::dk:

I can see him going straight into City's first XI on the right wing/right of an attacking midfield three. No chance he gets into the Bayern XI though.

Long term replacement for Ribery or Robben. The Frenchman will be 32 at the start of next season. or with pep even as false 9, so a replacement for Lewa...

Long term sure, but neither Robben nor Ribery have declined enough for Sterling to be considered a good buy any time soon. He's not better than Lewandowski in that position either. He'd have to move to another English side, he isn't good enough just yet to get a move to one of the foreign big boys.

We won't sell him to a rival for 3rd or 4th, which rules United, Spurs and Arsenal out. And there isn't another team in the top flight that could afford the £150k a week he's asking for, which Liverpool not wanting to offer is the basis of him possibly leaving in the first place. As for City and Chelsea, I can't see either being interested at the moment.

You would rule City out? I think they'd be the club most interested. They need more "homegrown" players to fit the quota and have pretty shit depth on the wings. A new manager seems likely, and I can see a big squad overhaul there with Yaya, Dzeko, Navas, Milner, and more all leaving. They need more than just Silva and Nasri as attackers to complement Aguero and Bony. I wouldn't be surprised that if Sterling and Walcott both refuse to sign new contracts, they both end up at City.
