So no doubt i will get some abuse for my 2nd post being a new thread, but i've done this before and it was fun so why not.

The idea is every week after your game, you come onto the thread and give your opposition a rating, as lets face it we all like to hear what other fans thought of our team...

So matches from Saturday:

So as a Notts County Fan we played Aldershot.

I'd give Aldershot 6/10 - i thought they played well and actually came and attacked us. in Andrews they have a striker who can finish, and they look a decent outfit. the sort of team who could easily go on a run if things click and they get some luck. extra credit for them as they didn't really time waste and it led to a really entertaining afternoon. Only criticism is they have all the effort but lack that little bit of quality in midfield to take a touch and slow it down when needed.

Bromley get a 5/10 from me, mainly for the fact they have Michael (fucking) Cheek and they're a determined bunch who keep at it despite not being pretty on the eye, in fact they offend my mirror.

I'll give Southend a 7, controlled the game for the most part but it was poor to let a 2 goal lead slip at home. I'd be disappointed if we didn't beat them in the return fixture.

I'll also give Southend a 7. They were better than I was expecting. I thought the number 7 in particular was excellent and the keeper looked very confident and made some great saves. Played some nice footy too.
That said, imploded at 2-0 up.

Notts County were a 9 - totally devastating.
Daggers were an 8 -Nothing too flashy but they were solid and played like a unit.
I think we’re going to give a lot of teams high marks this season!

Aldershot depends on how we’re viewing them. In general they were a 7 probably - created more chances against us than the other three teams we’ve played and had loads of energy and a good press, but were very open at the back. Compared to what I expected and what their fans suggested they’d be, they were a 10.

Others we’ve played:
Barnet - 2 - Just dreadful.
Torquay - 8 - Hard to judge because of the early red, but they were superb defensively.
Wrexham - 7 - Direct and difficult to play against, but struggled to create clear chances.

I'll give Maidenhead a 3/10 for their first half showing (they just couldn't handle us going forward), but a resounding 8/10 for the second half display which almost saw them snatch a very unlikely draw (0-4 at HT). So, overall, as an average 5.5/10, but I'll round it up to 6/10 because I'm generous like that.

Stockport County.
Dagenham- 9. Dominated us from about 15 minutes in and to its conclusion. They impressed me at our place last season too when I watched it on a stream. Maybe they're just our kryptonite.
Southend- 5. Poor really, blunt, never looked like scoring despite us letting them have the ball. Probably how the Grimsby fans viewed us last week.
Grimsby- 6. Going forward they were non existent but they came for a draw and got one so you have to give them a higher mark for that. They certainly had much less ambition and quality than Dagenham the week before at E.P though

Didn't see the Borehamwood game.

Only game I’ve seen so far was Weymouth and I’d give them a very generous 5/10 and that is purely based on how well they dug in defensively and looked for a long time like holding out.
Going forward they were non existent I can’t see them scoring many goals this season so very surprising to see that they’ve already won 2 games.

I've always hated playing Dagenham. They've worked their socks off and seem to have a few extra players on the pitch every time I've seen them, across various seasons/teams.

Yeah I can’t remember us ever beating them, and I can remember a couple of spankings they gave us over the years too.

Edit: just checked we’ve played them 7 times D3 L4. Wonderful.

Stockport: 7/10 Got all the tools but a clueless manager at this level, no real game plan but pass backwards

Bromley: 8/10 Dangerous wingers and direct but a very poor and super slow defence

Barnet: 3/10 Not as bad as a thought had a good opening spell but never really looked like scoring for the other 80 mins.

Wealdstone: 3/10 Came for a point and got one, unambitious time wasting all the old tricks for a team not good enough to compete properly on the pitch

Woking 7 - well organised and strong closing us down early on but had to defend most second half and were fortunate for their win.

Chesterfield 8 - hard to judge as they got an early goal and although a good strike I think our keeper should have stopped it. They only secured the points with a second late on.

Southend 6 - nothing impressed me about these at all, can see them struggling yes they hit the bar twice, one an overhead kick but that came from a push on our defender that was ignored. Can see Brown gone to sunnier climes by Xmas

Leytonstone and Ilford 7 - Apparently this was our cup final, as one of their idiot fans pointed out at the end and we must be happy we got a draw. Now Stilly claims we came for a point, strange we opened the scoring and took the lead after they equalised and had a couple of good opportunities to win it late on. We brought on an attacking left wing back who scored and then allowed Saunders to equalise.

We are better defensively and are lacking in forward options, and could have had better outcomes in all but the Chessie match. Apologies if we don’t roll over and let people tickle our tummies.

I’d say those are fair, also teams don’t score goals like our second at Dagenham if we’re just coming there for a point. Total football from our goal kick.

Woking’s midfield duo of Nwabuokei and Ince are going to cause problems for plenty of teams this season.

My point was once you got in front there was no ambition to increase the lead, all the old tricks came out. Same as when you went 2-1 up. Point was a fair result and you have improved a lot from last season, hopefully you can get a striker in to push you on.

A part time club away from home against the league leaders digging in to defend a one goal lead. Who would have thought it eh?

Woking - 7/10 - a game of 2 halves. All over us 1st half, they were clinging on 2nd half. But they have recruited well.
Chesterfield - 8/10 - closed us down all the park, work rate was superb. Looked strong, quick, physical. Good bet for promotion.
Southend - 5/10 - Ordinary. Here for the long term.
Dagenham - 6/10 - nothing sophisticated about their game plan. Get the ball out wide, early crosses into the box for McCallum. Look dodgy at the back. Will be in and around the play off places but I'd be surprised if they do a Sutton.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Solihull - 5/10, hard-working, ordinary lower mid-table side. Couple of decent pacy CBs. Not much punch up front.
Mind you, difficult to judge against this dreadful Shots team…

Woking- Its a high 6. Combative (or you could say niggly with a lot of play acting) and some players who look like they have quality. Campbell looked a handful and their midfield is decent.

Southend - I'd say it's a toss-up between 4 or 5. The midfield was abysmal. Totally outbattled. Some very nasty tackles flew in. One late one in particular looks like it could have caused serious injury to Benn. Bridge was the only slight bright spark for them. They look like a lower midtable side to me on that performance.

For one of the favourites to win the league perhaps they just had an off day?
They were slow at the back & the Rowe / Tshimanga partnership didn't look to be working

Kings Lynn - 5/10 Thought they played some really nice football first half, should have been one ahead before we scored. Like many bottom third sides lack a striker to worry mid table. Once we went up a hear after half time there was a huge gulf between the sides.

I'd bump them up to a 7, though it was hard to judge them properly with Marsden ruining the game. They look very dangerous going forward, and should've had a penalty at the end, but didn't deserve the draw in my view. We performed very well.

See i didn't think they looked that dangerous going forward certainly not in the final third. That was what was letting them down. Campbell was decent, the big lump they brought on caused a lot of problems with his size but had very little end product.

I agree we just about deserved the win. Certainly up to the red card we were comfortably the better side. Not sure what their manager was on about saying we were fouling them all over the park, they were the ones committing fouls, the fact they were rolling around on the ground the whole time was nothing to do with our players.

8 for Weymouth, really impressed. Mussa in midfield for them is the standout player we’ve come up against by a mile, and otherwise they defended solidly and played some neat football out from the back. On that showing they’ll be mid-table and a potentially tricky opponent for good teams.

Torquay 5/10.

Started well and had a ref who seemed to like the cut of their jib. However they lack pace and were one dimensional with hopeful high balls from the back onto our centre backs heads. Loads of muscle injuries too, four substitutions for players pulling up, not from crunching tackles or dodgy goings on, just over stretching or whatever. No team spirit either.
