I'd have McDermott back, only because he's the only person in football to have bought me a pint.

I'd be shocked if Pearson goes to Reading, not because he wouldn't take the job but because I'm surprised the Thais would go for him after the Leicester stuff.

Top 5 odds currently:

Nigel Pearson 4/6
Brian McDermott 4/1
Phil Parkinson 8/1
Dennis Bergkamp 8/1
Brendan Rodgers 14/1

So two managers who have been sacked by Reading in the past currently make the top 5...

Some of the local media reckon we'll have the new manager announced early next week (by Tuesday/Wednesday). Can't see it myself, but then we did hire Clarke the day after we sacked Adkins so these owners don't waste time.

Is Bergkamp after a job in management? If he even hands in an application give him the job just in the hope he'll attempt to get the players playing in the style he played. I doubt you'd care where in the table you finish if you got to watch Bergkamp football every week.

Get your money on a Portuguese manager - the Thais' have strong connections with agents in Portugal, hence the big influx of Portuguese based players over the summer.

I've seen loads of it and it's all shit, the top clubs only standout because the rest are complete turd, much like La Liga.

To be fair, I think the top clubs in La Liga stand out because they are actually top clubs.

Yeah sorry, I didn't clarify that bit. I meant that apart from the top named teams in both leagues - the rest are shat.

According to SSN: Reading set to appoint McDermott, but he faces "fierce competition from two other candidates" and apparently we "won't announce anything until after Saturday's match". Mind you Sky also said that Rowett and Stubbs were on the shortlist earlier in the week and that turned out to be bollocks. Im assuming one of the candidates is Oscar Garcia and the other is McCleish? I would rather McDermott than those two.

Wouldn't be happy with Garcia, tbh. Wasn't he on big money in Israel? Can't imagine him wavering on those wages. We'll be paying a lot for somebody who has a reputation of walking out early.
