What do you need?

GK
Daniel Iversen - hopefully returning on loan
Declan Rudd
Hudson/ Lombard

RB
Pacey right wing back, Nyambe seems our top target
Backup right back to replace Rafferty who needs moving on

CB
Sepp Van Den Berg - Hopefully returning on loan
Jordan Storey
Patrick Bauer
Liam Lindsay - Likely to sign permanently
New CB - Preferably someone with a bit of pace and ability on the ball

LB
Greg Cunningham
Andrew Hughes
Josh Earl

CM
Ryan Ledson
Ben Whiteman
Tom Bayliss
Adam O'Reilly
We won't be able to replace Pearson but someone with similar attributes is needed, Branagan at Oxford has been linked

AM
Alan Browne
Daniel Johnson
Brad Potts

W
Scott Sinclair
Tom Barkhiuizen
Sean Maguire
Probably need another one, although its not a priority if we're going to be playing 5-3-2 a lot

ST
Ched Evans
Emil Riis
We need two strikers really but i'd settle for one as long as he's good

Move on:
Conor Ripley, Joe Rafferty, Paul Huntington & Jayden Stockley

Brad Potts is the softest footballer I've ever seen. Dougall and Stewart will absolutely batter him.

That squad is a sorry sight isn't it?

A million miles away from yours but needs improvement, still managed automatic form in the last 8 games though.

Brad Potts doesn't play centre mid so strange comment, if those two are your starting midfielders then you'll be lucky to hit 30pts.

He plays attacking mid. And they play defensive mid. Who will he be matched up against? You watch football don't you? Dougall is Championship standard and far better than anything you've got.

Also, 8 games? Wow. Can't get relegated and can't get promoted and then you start playing well. Absolutely pointless.

He generally plays out wide you tool, Browne or DJ play attacking mid.

Dougall was released by Barnsley, hence why he ended up at your place, he's turd.

Takes me back a year. The anticipation, excitmen, fear bravado, bragging rights, heartbreak and full on gut wrench you get at least a week before a game.

Derby day. Against the deadly most hated rivals, amplified tenfold as it hasnt happened in what seems a lifetime.

Potential Starting Elevens for the opening day?

I think it'll probably go down to the wire in our hunt for a striker, so i'm not expecting one to be signed up by the first game.

Iversen
Van Den Berg - Bauer - Hughes
Olosunde - Whiteman - Ledson - Cunningham
Browne
Barkhuizen - Evans

Rudd, Lindsay, Earl, Bayliss, Johnson, Potts, Brown, Sinclair, Riis
Hard to see how we accommodate Scott Sinclair this season unless he's playing as a central striker.
Same goes for Daniel Johnson when he's back from international duty, stocked with '10s'.

That looks a fairly weak Preston side (maybe I'm wrong) - can you really expect to improve on last season based on that?

We've got bags of options - the only thing is none of our strike force are "proven" at this level.

I'd expect the 'best' Luton team to be as follows:

GK Simon Sluga
RB James Bree
CB Tom Lockyer
CB Sonny Bradley
LB Amari'i Bell
DM Henri Lansbury
CM Allan Campbell
CM Joe Morrell
RF Harry Cornick
LF Carlos Mendes Gomes
CF Elijah Adebayo
Subs: James Shea, Reece Burke, Kal Naismith, Glen Rea, Jordan Clark, Fred Onyedinma, Admiral Muskwe
Unused: Luke Berry, Danny Hylton, Elliot Lee, Peter Kioso, Dan Potts, Dion Pereira, Josh Neufville, Gabriel Osho, Cameron Jerome

It's a pretty solid core, we just need another out & out striker.

Iversen is one of the best keepers in the league and the midfield could be quite good if it gels and Whiteman continues to grow into his role.

I suspect we'll be solid mid-table again unless we get lucky with a striker.

Also depends if we can continue keeping clean sheets like we did at the back end of the season.

We don’t have a senior left back and are yet to replace our two best loanees from last season in James and Ostigard. Not feeling very confident at the moment.

With the current squad the starting line-up vs Forest will be:

GK: Moore/Wilson (no idea who is first choice, neither seem great)
RWB: Dabo
RCB: Rose
CB: McFadzean
LCB: Hyam
LWB: Reid
CM: Sheaf
CM: Hamer
CAM: O’Hare
ST: Waghorn
ST: Gyokeres/Walker

Not particularly inspiring reading.

Waghorn is a good signing, was impressed by that one. I'd definitely have him here.

I see Izzy Brown is going to be out for a long time having picked up an Achilles injury in training.

It seems a bit of a freak non contact injury but he’s just one of those players who seems to have a lot of bad injury luck around him. Disappointed for him as I thought Preston was a good move for him to find a stable home and get his career on track but, maybe not now. Very talented player but also seemingly pretty unfortunate.

Aye, shite for him, only signed a 1yr deal with an option to a 2nd, so no idea where the future lies for him.

These injuries are very difficult to come back from.

Looks like Izzy Brown's injury will give Josh Harrop a final chance to do something this season.

Had a shocking loan spell at Ipswich but I always get the feeling he could sort himself out and do well somewhere.

Move on:
Conor Ripley, Joe Rafferty, Paul Huntington & Jayden Stockley

Outgoings were slim - Stockley to Charlton permanently and Tom Bayliss on loan to Wigan.

Incomings went pretty much as expected, although I think we're short in the centre of defence, especially as Huntington has been missing since the start of pre-season with personal problems.

In:
GK - Daniel Iversen (Leicester, loan)
RWB/ CB - Sepp Van Den Berg (Liverpool, loan)
CB - Liam Lindsay (Stoke, nominal fee)
RWB - Michael Olosunde (Rotherham, free)
CM - Ali McCann (St Johnstone, £1.2m)
AM - Jamie Thomas (Bamber Bridge, free)
AM - Izzy Brown (Chelsea, free)
W/ ST - Josh Murphy (Cardiff, loan)

Glad we strengthened the midfield, not sure I remember a signing who has come with such rave reviews as McCann has.

Murphy will be used centrally it seems, he played off Keiffer Moore last season for Cardiff and McAvoy knows him well from Norwich.

Still yet to see Olosunde due to injury and obviosuly Izzy Brown is likely to miss the full season.

VDB, Iversen and Lindsay all returning from last season.

I think Jamie Thomas will just play in the reserves for the first half of the season at least.

Connor Wickham coming in is still a possibility.
