Anyone's released list out yet? Ours won't be out until next week apparently.

Don't think they'll be too many surprises on ours but I suspect we'll 'release' a couple of key players because they're looking at moving on.

Think quite a few of ours will be gone.

Just announced signing a few of the youngsters on pro contracts. Usually announced not long after that.

Was gonna start an INS and OUTS thread earlier but thought I'd get told off as we have the confirmed movements already. Our retained list was today, so I'll just copy what I put in the other thread….:

Are we the first to release players?

Duane O'Achie
Dale Tonge
Elliot Benyon
Martin Rice
Aaron Downes
Krystian Pearce
Courtney Cameron
Mickey Parcell
Tom Cruise

All gone.

We've offered deals to Toby Ajala, Levi Ives and Dan Lavercombe, both of the youth system who've featured this season.

Hargreaves is waiting to see what budget we have next year before offering deals to Ben Harding, Ashley Yeoman and the three non-contract players James McQuilkin, Aaron Dawson and Olivier Gueguen.

Personally I'm content with the majority of that. O'Achie I feel has potential, but off-field issues meant his stay in Devon was a short one. No sourness there and I wish him well. Tonge and Benyon can both go to never return, both high earners who've been terrible. Rice is a tryer but lacks quality. Downes has been excellent on the whole, but unfortunately he's so slow nowadays and always prone to a ridiculous error. Pearce has been terrible this year - and wants a move back north. Cameron should have been able to destroy this division - instead he's been poor. Parcell is a youthie who's been on loan at Truro - and done well apparently - but CH feels he won't be around our squad next year. Cruise is permanently injured.

Ajala would be a decent addition if he stays, as would Ives and Lavercombe. I don't see Ajala or Ives sticking around though. Harding I would offer a reduced wage too. I'd let Yeoman go now. The three non-contracts I'd offer cheap one year deals too, I think.

Erm, average. Not really stood out in a poor squad to be honest, but that's part down to the fact he's played anywhere from right back to left midfield

I quite like him though, I think he's quite a grafter in midfield, albeit quite small. A lot will depend on this potential takeover though.

He was like that with us, Always playing different positions, never right back though, that's a new one! Be nice for him to earn a contract with you lot, he didn't really have much luck with us, especially with Foyle's hoofball tactics.

Just the sort of player we would go for if we adopt the same pathetic recruitment policy as last simmer. Anyone is better than Anthony fucking Howell though even Kyle Perry (Ironically both ex Stags!)

There's quite a lot of them to choose from now, depending how loose your definition of Midlands is and depending if anyone gets shifted to the south. Alfreton, Boston, Telford, Nuneaton, Tamworth, Hednesford, Worcester, Solihull Moors, Gloucester, Brackley, Corby. There's a chance for Ilkeston to get promoted as well.

Quite stiff opposition in the transfer market for us then! :dis:

5 youth players signed pro contracts today, As for the 1st team god knows when our contracts will be sorted with no manager, if we don't appoint one by the end of the week I'd imagine Barry Horne will deal with them being the "Director of Football", Half the squad out of contract although only 3 i'd offer new deals to are Jennings, Manny Smith and Durrell who would be a good asset under a proper manager, creative player when used correctly

Barry Smith (our new manager) was having meetings with all players today to discuss their futures, so I would expect we will have news within the next week or so.

Has Pearce really been that bad Torquay fans? Quite liked him on loan at ours a few back.

Suprised about Downes for you, granted I never knew how he got on this season but i'd have thought he'd still fair okay at this level, with the right (more mobile) partner.

Yeah. Like I say though, nothing will happen until we're a bit clearer with this takeover bid and so on.

Not gonna lie, he was my choice for captain last summer. I thought he would be excellent at this level. However I was wrong and he's been poor. Slow to react, always seems lethargic and seems to be a route-one sort of player. I'm disappointed because he was good for us in League Two, but he's on a fair whack and we need a clean slate. From Hargreaves' comments it sounds like Krystian wanted to go anyway so it was on mutual terms.

Suprised about Downes for you, granted I never knew how he got on this season but i'd have thought he'd still fair okay at this level, with the right (more mobile) partner.

He is okay, but again, it's about finances. Downes would be a good covering defender I feel - certainly has leadership qualities and is an experienced head, but we aren't in a position to pay the sort of wage he'd like for a defender who may not be featuring in the first team each week.

We needed a clean slate, and Hargreaves is certainly working towards that. His position may well be under question if a takeover does happen, but this is a huge summer for him - if he gets it right and gets us challenging the top five then I think he'll start to win fans back over. However if he builds a squad that struggles like it has this year then his position will be untenable by Christmas, in my opinion.

So long as Bishop is gone I'll be happy. If there is even any point in offering Smith a deal I would. Jennings is just a bit meh, has hardly scored and has a questionable attitude to say the least, he can go. I would keep Jay Harris, he's still young enough to get back to where he was in his pomp under a new manager and also Sam Finley should be signed up straight away, he is potentially a star. The rest can go.

Surprised to read that Aldershot have alowed Andre McColin to leave. Not surprised about Josh Scott though! His crazy Red at our place probably sealed it!

Altrincham's list is out. All retained bar Kyle Perry, Steven Gillespie, Sean Williams, Peter Cavanagh and Dave Parton. Four of the five released only did one season. Cavanagh was excellent before getting injured in January, but never seemed the same since. The rest I won't be sorry to see go. Gillespie was an unmitigated disaster, Williams not good enough, Parton never convinced in goal, and Perry...well, enough said.

To be fair, if your bloke hadn't karate kicked him in the guts he probably wouldn't have stamped on him.

Andre McCollin was a surprise for me, I'd have kept him. Will make a decent striker for someone at this level.

What about your list DSL? I assume most of your lot will be released now. Would mind seeing us move for John Johnson. Very good in both games I saw him this year.

John Johnstone is a class player, couldn't quite make our League One side sadly but I went to watch Alfreton play the other week and he stood out in the first half. Would be a huge injustice if he didn't stay at Conference player and will play in League Two one day.

Do you lot play Howell up top? Perry is the worst striker I've ever witnessed.

What happened with Gillespie? Arguably the most gifted natural striker I've seen in a Cheltenham shirt. We had him on loan last season and it looked like he still had the eye, but just lacked the fitness.

I think most Alty fans were quite excited when he signed. He started off quite brightly. The first two games I saw him play (friendly against Man Utd reserves and a league game against Lincoln), he looked a handful, hitting the bar from distance in each game. He scored on his 4th or 5th start, but then started to fluff his lines a bit and found himself on the bench. By November, his confidence started draining away. He tamely bodged a last minute penalty against Alfreton, then (and I think this was the beginning of the end) he scooped the ball over an open net from 6 yards at Wrexham, and was subbed minutes later (this was still in the first half). He carried on with a few sub appearances, and while his approach play was still pretty decent, he couldn't hit a barn door. By February, even that had gone; he was getting muscled off the ball like he wasn't there. The last time I saw him (at Macc in February) he was moving as if he was walking barefoot on hot coals. By my reckoning, he didn't get on the pitch after that game. You couldn't have picked him. I think he only got on the bench because the squad was so thin. The ultimate humiliation was when the reserve team striker got on ahead of him against Telford a couple of weeks ago.

It was really quite sad to see.

It wasn't a suprise for me, 4 goals in 2/3 of a season isnt really good enough and other than goals doesn't contribute enough other than goals in my opinion. He's good when a ball is played in behind and he runs onto it 1 on 1 with the keeper, but im not sure he has enough at this level. He would be decent for a conference south team I think though.

As for the release list, my main suprise is despite finishing 18th and setting a playoff challenge as a target for next season, we have ONLY released 3 players!

Haha. Good point. Id expect our list in the next week or so. Our mangerial situation hasnt been completely confirmed. Vicous rumours are going round that Ilkeston Manager Kevin Wilson will replace Nicky Law after they have finished their play-off campaign. (They play tonight)

Johnstone is on a 18 Month Contract. He is contracted till Summer 2015. Think he can be a really force at Conference North level. Hoping we can keep hold of him.

Nice one mate. Hope you enjoyed your visit. Which match did you see? Id agree with that. I expect to see in the fL in the future. Just hoping he sees out his contract first!

Anthony played in all sorts of positions. Goalkeeper in the FA Cup at Lincoln, he has been an emergency striker in the past when we had injures and suspensions. He was fucking awful. Its funny you mention Kyle Perry he scored a 90 minute equalizer for Alty back in September. If he hadnt scored that we would have stayed up

Id be fucking delighted with him at Conference North if he fancied the commute!
