Our retained list has been confirmed following the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.

Some absolute rotten players stuck with a year remaining on that list, rotten even for the NL!

The club have yet to publish a list of players who will be staying or going, apparently they are waiting until Big Dunc gets back from his trip to Scotland and his assistant's visit to Ireland before making anything public. However I believe the following to be the situation regarding players either in or out of contract, but clearly I haven't a clue if any have relegation release or extension clauses:

Still under contract

Ross Doohan
Fiachra Pagel
Corey O'Keeffe
Dom Bernard
Jamie Robson
Charlie McCann
Kyle McAllister
Reece Brown
Harvey Bunker
Jordon Garrick
Amadou Bakayoko
Tyrese Omotoye
Armani Little

Out of contract

Dylan McGeouch
Bailey Cargill
Ben Stevenson
Alfie Burnett
Jordan Moore-Taylor
Sean O'Brien
Udoka Godwin-Malife
Lewis Thomas
Luke McGee
Regan Hendry
Matty Stevens
Jacob Jones
Sean Robertson
David Davis

A few of the Academy players featured during the season, including two in our last game at Cambridge, haven't a clue whether any of them will be offered a full time contract for next season.

Release Featherstone if we're keeping Dolan (surprised he's being kept on).
Looks like we are after a fee for Sylla, no way is he staying
Good luck to Sterry, he should be aiming miles higher than Shields. Top l2 lower league 1 surely? Will his MH issues stop that?
Agree with all releases
Hope we keep Jennings (not overly bothered though), Kilip can do one. Keep Boyes as back up maybe
Transfer list Paterson, possibly Finney, Ndjoli, Lacey (close call though, he's a decent NL defender just injured a bit too much).
Finney might do a Holohan type job for us in the NL, e.g. late runs in area, can score goals. Doesn't work as hard as him though and might not be a team player by all accounts. Can go but not against him staying.
Pruti alongside some commanding presence can see developing. Good he's staying.

Good luck to Sterry, hope it all works out for him, leaves with everyone's best wishes, don't begrudge him a good move if he can get one, signing him is very much a risk though.

Agree with that list of transfers and I'd add Jake Wastie, all need shifting and should be nowhere near the starting 11 next season, even for non league, Sylla got sniped by his own contract clause, anyone wants him, £££ please or sit it out for a season, Jennings I'm 50/50 on, clever footballer and could be good foil for a strike partner but I wanna see some actual pace upfront from strikers.

Killip can get fucked, Featherstone I'm also 50/50 on, might fancy an easy season in the NL North back down his way to finish the career off.

Totally forgot about Hastie, list the fuck out of him. Completely on the same page as you with the others.

Injuries physical and mental for him, great player but struggles to get past 30 games a season, wouldn't be surprised to see him sign for South Shields.
If thats Sterrys level of ambtion then its no good him being anywhere near the EFL.
Funny he phoned in sick when we were due to play Stockport.

Good luck to him.

Greenacres: is Godwin-Malife the really quick full back you had when you were promoted?

Yes...at times he is like a greyhound on speed (please note dog lovers, I have never given illegal drugs to an animal, just in case any of you were wondering)...I'm hoping we try to keep him as he is easily good enough for League Two.

What's Robbie Wilmott like these days? Has often impressed me but admittedly we're probably going back three of four seasons since I think I last noticed him really.
Didn’t really feature once Coughlan arrived. Was loaned to Walsall but was injured and didn’t play much for them. Decent out wide but better days behind him now.

30 games split with Efete wouldn't be so bad. He's decent when he plays, right?

I’ve heard a rumour he’s off to Carlisle. Not sure how legit that is, but would make sense him wanting to stay in the north

Sterry goes with my best wishes.
He's getting pelters for being weak mentally, injury prone blah blah, but football wise,he's been a cracking player for us.
Way above the fecking dross we've has to endure this season.

Ours is out:

The likes of Craig Clay, Harry Smith, Connor Wood and Jordan Lyden will almost certainly end up signing for clubs in League Two next season.

I think Pratley might struggle stepping up a league at his age. Paul Coutts was great for us in L2 but has really struggled in L1

He'll need to be managed for sure, much like this season, but he is the captain. Confirmed as staying now on a 1 year deal.

Flynn will be after Smith no doubt.
I'd happily have him at Town.

I'd have Clay too if we had more wiggle room at CM but as it's quite likely we'll only be bringing one in there, I don't think he quite offers enough improvement.

Ours is out.

A total embarrassment that Bassala Sambou has got a one year contract extension triggered by appearances. The man didn't score a single goal in the league this season as a striker in nearly 30 games. David Artell has so much to answer for for putting an appearance trigger in his contract but not in Dan Agyei's. We will almost certainly pay him off like we did with Madger Gomes last season but that's around over £100K of next season's budget down the drain unless we can negotiate a discounted pay-off. I hope Artell never gets another managerial post in football ever again for his ridiculous contractual decisions that will hamstring us for this season too.

Dave Richards finally transfer listed. The jobber should've gone 6 years ago but he still has another 2 years on his contract here. It'll be a tough ask to move him. Billy Sass-Davies 1 year left on his deal and I'm certain a National League side will pick him up. Good professional just not EFL standard.

Agree with all 4 released players. Kelvin Mellor will only regress next season, Callum Ainley should've been released 2 years ago and is a real waste of talent, Sean Lawton I'll trust the management on that one as we've barely seen him and David Amoo was a total waste of a signing and wage. I'm sure he'll either retire or end up in non league.

How Regan Griffiths isn't transfer listed I'll never know. But we're a year away from his long overdue departure. Another of Artell's stupid undeserved contracts dished out that are hamstringing us.

Of the players retained - 100% certain Chris Long will go. 99% certain Dan Agyei will go. 100% certain Tariq Uwakwe will go and we've only offered him a deal to get a fee for his departure. On a more positive note, I believe we'll retain the services of Rod MacDonald who has been excellent for us this season. Charlie Finney and Tom Booth will sign their new deals and I'm very excited to see what they can do for us in the future. Surprised Lewis Billington got a deal as he looked poor the couple of times I've watched him on loan at Leek Town this season.

Also delighted to see Max Woodcock, Zak Kempster-Down and Owen Lunt get their first pro deals too.

Shows what I know? Chris Long staying with us for another season is excellent news. Not many thought he'd be staying! The challenge is to keep him fit now and he'll be one of the better forwards in this division!

Exactly this, a fit Chris Long is amongst the best forwards at this level, just keeping him fit that's the problem. Didn't expect him to sign, him and CBR gives us the start of a strong forward line, plus hopefully a few goals for Nevitt in pre season might kick start him. Surely Dan Agyei won't sign though (secretly hoping this Jinx's him into signing)
