Expect this will start drip feeding out in the coming days.

Charlie Austin has already left QPR.
Sam Johnstone won't be signing a new contract at WBA.

We have 7 players according to NJ that are out of contract. Bit surprised he named the number as we are normally super cagey on contract stuff .

Let the guessing game begin then as to who those 7 might be. I’d expect at least Hylton, Lee, Berry to be 3 of those.

Really don’t know what we would do with our squad if we got promoted. Clearly we would need about 10 new players to be anywhere near competitive, but at the same time wouldn’t want to go splashing the cash too much.

I really don’t think it’s a problem we will have to worry about too much but for me it would hoovering up some decent talent from the lower leagues with good resale potential and pocketing the rest of the money to go to wards power court. Set ourselves up to challenge again in a stable way should we be relegated (which would be a certainty)

Honestly do not care about how well we may or may not do, all about getting us one step closer to getting the stadium sorted, as that’s the key to us operating at this level consistently. If we made it to the premier league then the on pitch stuff is a bit irrelevant for me other than some good days out!

5 confirmed for us so far.

Scott Sinclair
Joe Rafferty
Izzy Brown
Paul Huntington
Declan Rudd (Retired)

Hunts is a real modern day cult hero for us, not sure if he hit the full ten years but he'll get a testimonial regardless.

Connor Ripley, Tom Barkhuizen, Matt Hudson, Jamie Thomas, and Jack Baxter likely to follow.

No idea what has happened with Barkhuizen, he was a first team regular a year ago but has since disappeared. He has bad asthma and got Covid, so maybe he's still struggling with that. Hopefully it's not career ending stuff.

Some 1st year pros have left too, Joe Rodwell-Grant is on trial at Wigan.

Where do my fellow Luton fans feel we need to strengthen if we stay down and keep who we want.

No 1 Keeper. Flying left wing back. Creative mid. Crafty striker.

I fear we will get cherry picked tho and lose a few assets.

Keeper is nailed on. Midfield is the main one in my view that needs looking at. If we are going to play this way with high pressing and immense energy required from midfield we need depth there, but don’t think it can just be any body there, we could do with adding some quality creativity to it. Could do with a couple in that area for me but the sort of profile we want could be quite difficult to get a hold of.

Cant agree with you here mate. Weve missed him badly. You dont think hes improved leaps and bounds? Has room and potential to still further? He holds the ball well and while he has room for improvement on how and when he releases the ball, he still creates us so much space when on the ball as he shields it so well. Alongside a creative type hed be amazing. Trust me. I do respect your right to a view tho and mine might be skewed.

Im the same with Bell and maybe im wrong here too. Going forward i just see poor thinking and worse execution and little chance of it ever improving. Altho he did get in dangerous two balls at the weekend it was sooooo good to see Bree back.

A bunch of them were reserve league/ youth players.

Lowe wants a senior squad of 22 and I expect some of the retained list will leave too. Sean Maguire has been linked to Sunderland, joining up with Alex Neil again.

Be interesting where Izzy Brown goes next. Clearly a very talented player but there’s definitely something missing there and he clearly has a lot of injury issues.

Could see him dropping to league 1 and if he has an injury free season (big ask) he could be a huge player at that level

What's happened to Berry this season? 7 goals in 15 appearances so I assume he's been injured?

Do you think you'll give him another contract? Would love him to come back and finish his career with us and we are looking for someone to fill Hoolahan's quality.

Yeah lot of little injuries been picked up by him. A shame as when he’s played I think he’s been fantastic and with our high pressing style this season would have been perfect imo.

Do you think you'll offer him another deal in the prem or if in the championship?

I think he had to win Jones over early too. Didnt seem like he was one of his go to options even before Campbell hit his stride and much more of a back up.

I agree with TFCH tho that he is a huge asset and a super popular fan player. One of our best modern day signings as he stepped up thru the Leagues with us. He should get another year even if in the Prem as our style will demand a lot of the CMs and he deserves the reward

Nathan Jones always speaks very highly of him, but he has been really unlucky this season with a series of injuries. Looked good when he did play and weighed in with some important goals. Clever player, and well worth a new contract imo.

We were ready to activate his second year last month until all this came to light. Had a set back on his injury because he fell over pissed as well.

Depends if we assess the injuries this season are just bad luck or we are thinking it’s the sign of a bit of a decline, that’s the call we will have to make imo. He’s rated highly by everyone I think but “the best ability is availability” to steal a phrase.

So Nathan will be back to work first thing this morning intent on strengthening - I don't think we need revolution, more like evolution.

I expect the following:

Under Contract: James Shea, James Bree, Kal Naismith, Sonny Bradley, Elijah Adebayo, Reece Burke, Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, Jordan Clark, Allan Campbell, Henri Lansbury, Fred Onyedinma, Elliot Thorpe, Amari'i Bell
New Contract: Harry Cornick, Luke Berry, Robert Snodgrass, Tom Lockyer, Peter Kioso, Harry Isted, Gabriel Osho
Available for Transfer: Carlos Mendes Gomes, Admiral Muskwe
Release: Dan Potts, Danny Hylton, Cameron Jerome, Glen Rea, Elliot Lee, Dion Pereira

I’d be surprised if they gave up on Mendes Gomes and Muskwe that quickly.

Is Dion Pereira out of contract? He said in an interview the other month that he still had a few years left with you guys. We'd love him back either on loan or if he's a free agent.

Yeah I can’t say he’s impressed too much, just we spent money albeit fairly nominal amount on him so can’t see us pulling the plug after 1 season. Bar i think 1 game early season (I want to say Barnsley) he always looks totally lost out there.

Mendes Gomes I think has been unfortunate in that we made the move to 352 where he doesn’t fit. We tried a few times putting him in midfield but he didn’t look very comfortable. Given our play style he is also not the most physical so I wonder how much of a future there is for him here
