Well Done Grimsby, a win or a couple of draws should keep you safe, they'll be dancing in Steele's tonight

Just avoid defeat against Barnet next week and Grimsby will surely be almost home now.

I've been appalled by the way we've played the entire season, even when we were in touching distance of the playoffs our performances weren't good, but that was one of the few times I've come away and thought we thoroughly deserved to win and I am so relieved it finally happened. First half was clearly the two worst sides in the league throwing jabs at each other but we came out a new team second half and had far too much for Chesterfield. Obviously we still had the struggle of actually scoring goals though and it looked another all too familiar case but for once we got that little bit of luck.

I find it insane that we can sit here and say we don't deserve to go down but Chesterfield actually looked worse than us. We're still not out of it though and we absolutely need something against Barnet but the atmosphere was electric today and the positive mood has sky rocketed after that ball hit the net. I can't believe I'm going to sit here and say I think we'll be safe, but here we are. Regardless, I am very excited for our future under Jolley no matter what league we're in.

I can't even bring myself to be angry about that penalty decision. I mean to give a decision like that, given the clock and enormity of the game? It has to be an absolute stone wall to give in that situation, and it was 50/50 at best. But it's our players failing to recognise the enormity, rather than the ref. Absolutely shocking, and gutting. Down now and it's heartbreaking. Never felt so down about football

I always thought Vale were the Masters of our own downfall but to lose to a 10 man Vale ( 14 without a win ) , and now this one ( 20 without a win ) smacks of conference football .
No gloating here as I actually posted that I'd like FGR and Barnet to go , but the last 8 days look the final nail now .

We definitely didn't deserve to lose this one. Without the pen we could still be playing now and they not score. The problem is we've played a side without a win in 20 odd games and not found a way of getting the ball in the net. It was the biggest game in our history and the players looked like they were playing on the park. Gutless from them

Whilst we still didn’t create many chances, we were by far the better team. Chesterfield had a good shot in the first half and a scramble in the second but that was it. It’s some going to play worse than us over a game but they managed it. They had some pacy players in midfield and upfront but they were so disjointed. Our defence was fairly solid barring a couple of slips. If we had someone who could finish, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

Our 9th(?) penalty this season. That’s some luck. If we can somehow beat Barnet next week, I believe that we will be safe.

For me, a definite penno.

Two shit teams who both deserve to go down however somehow, we won't. Great to celebrate that but a disgrace we even got to this point.

Don't worry Spireites. You will defo win next week. Just about any side could beat us ATM. We are so appallingly bad.
PS - We have sold our allocation but I think they were bought when people actually thought we were in with a chance.

Agreed. Agent flitcroft will be there.
Hopefully he'll have been sacked by then, but if we lose to Chesterfield the Mansfield fans will hound the useless c*** back to Mansfield themselves.

We couldn't beat a blind team pal. Unless you bring the Sky cameras in then suddenly we turn into Man City

Trust me, you'll beat us. You've no idea how wank we are. I hope we screw you over and get a win and stuff but we won't. We're shit

Wasted two good opportunities against Vale and Grimsby to get some points on the board - I'm afraid I can't see anything other than relegation to the non-league now.

Lose to Barnet next week and maybe that Forest Green v Grimsby game on the final day could be a genuine decider after all.

You can't miss two golden chances like Chesterfield have against Vale and Grimsby and expect to stay up.

Games in hand, yes, but even with those it's now looking an uphill task. They needed a draw at worst today.

Whilst I'm inclined to agree, if they somehow pull out a win on Tuesday at Morecambe, the whole complexion changes. Then they go into the derby on Saturday with a bit of form and confidence, playing a badly out of form Mansfield team, having not long beaten a better Notts County side at home. But they are getting into must win territory now, with virtually no room for slip ups.

We are absolutely gutless. We won’t win another game this season I’ve no doubt.

How we can rock with that away following and it not instil some fight and desire into the side says a lot.

We’re doomed, just no fight in us

To be fair, your fans were dead silent. Now I'm not saying the side gave you anything to shout about but you hardly instilled fight or desire in them just by showing up.

Watched the game back on iFollow as i' out the country and thought our fans sounded bang up for and the atmosphere sounded decent from both sets at times

Sunderland Away fans are always very vocal, they are turd . Cov fans were loud yet second best on the field. Minimal impact IMO
