Stockport 2, Dale 7 was highly amusing, but contained a large amount of comedy defending from both sides.

The 2-0 win against Leeds in the cup was probably the best performance. Paddy Kenny pulled off a string of excellent saves to keep the score down.

County had just set some record for clean sheets the week before. Worrying thing was we were due to play you a couple of weeks after and were in God awful form.

I think they'd kept about nine clean sheets until the week before, then let in a comedy own goal at Barnet, followed quickly by a couple more, so played us just after the run ended.

Another one just came to mind. Wycombe 0 Shrews 7 in the JPT. I was one of about 80 Salop fans there, most of whom, like me, being London based exiles.

We witnessed a Grant Holt masterclass, totally unplayable that night scoring 5 goals, and an on loan Kevin Thornton pulling the strings in midfield. An incredible performance and result!

How about Bratfut 1 Crewe 5
or Crewe 5 Bratfut 0?

Why the cheap shot? No, those results don't make me smile. The fact you've lost to us 4 times in a row without scoring does, though. There, have it back.

Recent ones I could file under this category: beating Leeds 2-1 in the League Cup, the 4-2 win at Chelsea, 3-1 against Villa, beating Arsenal on pens. Bit more historic: 1-0 and 3-1 cup wins against Spurs and Everton respectively in the late 80s.

League-related: Wolves 2-3 City to get promotion to the Premier League, City 3-0 Northampton in L2 PO Final, probably the most relaxed I've ever been at a 'major' game involving us given how well we started.

Bradford 0-6 City.

Fucking hell I completely forgot that happened, and I would like to forget it happened again, please.

Burton 1-3 City (Playoff semi's 2nd leg)
City 3-0 Northampton (Playoff final)
City 2-1 Leeds

Go up this season and it's safe to say you'll be past it ;)

Another one: 2-1 vs Hartlepool in the playoffs in 2004. Trailing 1-0 going into the 90th minute, Goodfellow powers in a header and it goes completely mental. Then in stoppage time, before we even make it back to our seat...

"Christian Roberts is through... AND GETS THE GOAL!!"

Absolute scenes. Could feel the stand physically shaking under your feet, never known anything like it. Graham Poll actually said in his autobiography it's the loudest noise he's experienced on a football pitch.

Then in typical fashion we bottled the final...

Anyway, congrats on your, eventually, decent enough season. Something to build on for sure.

Could be leaving us to deal with your 'neighbours' next year!

We were in an executive box for that 7-2 game. I think we upset a few of the locals by jumping up and down all the time. It got a bit awkward after a while.

Thanks, took us a while but we got there in the end.

For the good of the forum really, imagine us, your lot, Rovers and Oxford fans all in here together :eyes:. It was bad enough last season!

You and Oxford'll be enough to be getting on with, I'm sure the blue few can oblige

Swindon 4 Arsenal 3 (League Cup Qtr-Final)
Bristol City 0 Swindon 4 (mostly because BCFCTV (otherwise known as HTV) had built it up beforehand that City were going to teach us a footballing lesson).
Swindon 2 Gillingham 0 (Less because it was Gillingham, more because it was the first season of the play-offs & we had finished third)
Oxford 0 Swindon 2 (2001 - last time we played them at the Manor Ground, and my sons Birthday)
Oxford 2 Swindon 4 (1990 - After being 2 down in 5 mins)

Involving Rovers, beating Chelsea 4-3 on pens in the League Cup semi in 2009 is the highlight of an otherwise awful 7 years.

Not sure how these haven't been mentioned by other City fans (or I'm too old for this forum already and I haven't officially hit middle age yet).

Walsall 4 - 1 West Brom. Opening game in the championship in the 2003/2004 season. Baking hot sunny day, full house, plenty of pre-match beers and Paul Merson's debut. He was unplayable that day, scored 2 fantastic goals and was involved with the other 2. I doubt we scored 1 better goal than those 4 all season. A perfect match and a nice way to get one over on local rivals.

So many to choose from, especially as I watched us through the 90's. Liverpool in 91 2-2. Can see myself on the old video when Foyle scored the equaliser. My old man holding me in the air, me wearing a royal blue capri jacket, horrendous.

So many Potteries derby wins, the best would have to be the 3-1 in the FA cup when Regis' open goal stuck in the mud. The auto glass win at the Victoria Ground makes me smile more though. They battered us, Stein missed a penalty and then Van Der Laan powered a head in for the winner. Went beserk behind the goal when that went in.

4-0 away at Huddersfield to send Stoke and Man City down from the Championship in 98. Brilliant. Stoke lads then came up to Burslem that night to take out their frustration on the locals, but got sent packing all the way down waterloo road. What a shit day that was for them.

Ian Bogie equaliser away at Everton. Ferguson made it 2-1 with seconds remaining, only for Bogie to smash one that hit a defender and looped over Southall. Fuck me that was the best mental ever. I could have ran on the pitch and had a wank I was that happy.
