Terrible news, Yeovil Captain Lee Collins has died aged only 32, spent a few years at Vale when we took him on from Wolves and turned into a excellent left back for us.

Remember him skinning the entire Hereford team before squaring unselfishly for Ricco to score and ironically scored the goal to win Vale out first promotion in 2 decades when he scored an own goal playing for Northampton.

Believe also ex Mansfield from the league?

Absolutely gutting. Still close to Popey and a few of the lads like Yates and Griff still at the club.

Awful, that's no age at all. May he rest in peace.

This is incredibly sad, one of the first players we signed following our promotion to the Football League, a leader on the pitch.

Thoughts with his family at this time, and with his team-mates and colleagues at Yeovil Town.

RIP Lee.

The iconic image, after the own goal that got us promoted Pope rather than celebrate consoles his mate. He was that popular.

Tomorrow will be an emotional day, plenty of people associated with the club at the time still there is some capacity. Minutes silence before.

In a way he possibly even saved the club, he left when we went in administration to Barnsley as our saleable asset.

Once a Valiant always a Valiant.

A minutes silence at Mansfield tomorrow as well.

Thought he was a really good player and was disappointed when he left to join FGR.

Sad news I remember him for 2 things at vale for scoring away at Bury opening day of the season similar goal to what Harry maguire scored for England last night and him scoring in a home game and him doing a goal celebration of the Jim gannon and Geoff horsefield bust up from aldershot.

When he came to us i expected him to become a Championship player, he was part of that back line under Micky with Gaz Owen and McCombe, that 2010 season we only conceded something like 9 goals up until the December point when Adams left. Just looked a level above but for whatever reason he didn’t go up the leagues.

That winner at Bury on the opening day with 2000 fans going wild behind the goal, good times.

Such a tragedy being so young and with young kids. Really knocked me for six and sounds like it’s reverberated around most Valiants.

Shocked and saddened to hear the news of Lee Collins passing. So young. He was one of those players whose commitment and reliability was unrelenting. A super professional. So sad.

RIP Lee

Collo was actually a very skilful player for us, brought the ball out of defence really well and scored the odd cracker. Played in midfield a few times and never looked out of place.

The win today dedicated to Collins, moving tributes from Yates, Pope and Micky Adams etc

If anyone wishes to donate a Vale fan has set this up for his young family.

Although can’t make it I hope today’s memorial match between Congleton and a Port Vale side from his time with us goes well.

Good to see most of his team mates from that good side we had are back, Haldane, Griffith, McCombe, Rico, Shuker, Jeno etc.

Managed by two of Vale’s greatest managers in Micky Adams and John Rudge.

Should be good but emotional and hopefully raises some good money for Lee’s family.
