Both of these sides picked up big wins last weekend. Chesterfield beating Shrewsbury 7-1 and Rochdale beating Walsall 3-0 at the Bescot. Both sides will be looking to kick on after a 'meh' Christmas spell and winter so far. You would expect goals in this game after 10 goals were scored for both sides last weekend.

Very good win and great to back up last weeks result. Gboly sent off for two dives apparently, that's really poor but a lesson learnt hopefully.

See Dean, this scoring goals business isn't that hard is it?

We weren't good but should probably have at least drawn today. Referee was shocking for both sides he really was dire. He got the red card correct though. Shame a very bright young player feels the need to cheat. He has a lot of talent, he shouldn't feel the need to throw himself on the floor at every opportunity.

Playing to players strengths isn't rocket science, unfortunately it proved beyond our clueless former leader.

Enough about him though. A slightly unexpected 3 points today, and suddenly we're on a roll. Sounded like Gboly had a stormer despite the second yellow.

King Danny is BACK!

The win hasn't surprised me. I don't think Rochdale are much good and we are better than the recent run as Danny has shown without too much fuss.
We're definitely looking up the table now and I wouldn't be surprised if we finished above Dale and a few more above us now.

Not gonna get carried away, you tend to get a honeymoon period with a new manager, there's still plenty of work to do to avoid a relegation dog-fight. Even more so if Dave Allen decides to cash in on Morsy, Hopefully he can see the bigger picture that relegation would cost us more than any fee we might get for Sam. At this moment in time, he is our midfield. Lose him and our options look really, really grim.

Deserved win for Spires, best team won

Only negative for Chesterfield fans, the best player on the park by far misses a game next week.

The only positive for me is that i actually saw a diver get 2 yellow cards and get sent off. I would hope the young lad would learn but i've hoped for world peace.

Well played Wilson, gung-ho attacking? Must have turned over a new leaf.

The Sky highlights online don't show the first yellow card but the second looks exceptionally harsh to me.

Yeah having seen it, he'd have been stupid not to go to ground there. It's a penalty to me looking at it. Obviously the ref is just one of those ones that has a bee in his bonnet about going down easily. 9 times out of 10 a ref gives a pen for that

Sounds like Danny reckons the 1st yellow was an absolute stone wall free kick too. I know he's likely to be biased, but he seems a pretty honest bloke to me

Amazing how Ariyibi has turned his game around so quickly. He was utterly anonymous weeks ago.

He's an outlet when you've got the ball and looking to attack in numbers, he's a liability if you're set up in a negative fashion like Saunders had us set up. I think he'll come on under Wilson

The second was an absolute dive, right in front of me. Absolutely no physical contact and he dropped. He was looking to draw the foul for a penalty but it didnt come.

Still the mam of the match from me, had our two LB's in knots.

Looks like a blatant dive from the TV camera. However, from the Main Stand, it looks a penalty as there was some contact, although he did topple over easily. Probably influenced the ref by the first booking, which was as poor a dive as you will ever see. A kind of "cry wolf" sending off, which is a shame as he was a country mile ahead of anyone else on the pitch.

Funny how we see things differently. Thought the ref had an excellent game overall, and thus, I disagree with Daleforever almost 100%.

Well done Spirites, you were the better team for 75% of the game, and deserved to win.

I reckon Hilly picked the wrong team yesterday...neither Rose nor Jamie Allen should have started. Probably cost us a point having them play a part.

Yeah think we deserved that - should have been clear by half time if the officials hadn't conspired to mug us off. How that 2nd one was disallowed i'm not sure really, it came off a Dale player :( The first was probably the right call but hard to tell from the highlights. Can't call the red card from the highlights but thought at the time the 2nd was harsh. Definitely "cried wolf" scenario.

The chippy was good again though :D

I had headed to pie land/wee wee land and only found out it wasn't 2-0 during HT.

When we equalised i was singing 2-0 and you effed it up to myself

From about 3 mins in. First 'dive' is a terrible decision. Jury is still out on the second. The pace he's going at makes it a difficult call but the poor edit from the club on that clip makes me suspicious a better look at it would be condemning on Gboly.

I think the second is an even worse decision than the first. After the game the lad was having this was massively harsh he absolutely tore them a new one. Them left backs must be having sleepless nights still
