I looked around and there is no thread for general rock.

Rock is my favourite genre and thought I should start a thread.

I'm sure a lot of rock fans enjoy classical rock. I enjoy any type of rock really, when it goes from soft rock, to heavy metal. From classic rock, to modern rock.

The 2 songs I'm really liking at the moment are I Hate Everything About You by Three Day's Grace and Outside by Foo Fighters.

'Outside' is a belter, although I prefer 'I am a River' from the Sonic Highways album.

I've been listening to Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream again recently. A timeless classic with so many decent tracks.

The only rock I like is alternative. It could be noise rock, punk rock, indie rock or whatever. OTOH, I despise Heavy Metal with a passion, it's only music for those kids who are very insecure and so choose to dream their day away into thinking they're macho The same could be said for a lot of classic rock, which to me means only one thing : radio music only with endless guitar solos

Bands I like to hate, in no particular order - Queen, Ghost, Manowar and 99% of Black Metal bands, since contrary to what they think, they're the most commercial of the lot and are only in it for the money. They claim they don't really believe in Satan yet they release whole albums praising him. If that's not commercial I don't know what is.

Listened to I am a River and didn't find it that great. Still a good song but I prefer Outside. We all have different taste though

Pretty difficult to discuss "general rock" as there is so much variation under the term "rock", so I think you really need to break it down into sub genres. Although I guess "mainstream" would cover it?

Anyhoo.............

One "mainstream" band I really like is The Pretty Reckless. They do try to be a bit different I feel, and of course you have Taylor Momsen to look at.......
