Apologies if theres already another thread but cant find one and feel he deserves his own. A comedian who can be laughed at regardless of age.

Has a year ever seen as many celebrities die as 2016 already!?

Goodbye

Another TV legend/personality lost to the us.

2016 has been a horrid year in that sense.

Aye really sorry to hear that, I loved The Two Ronnies growing up and Corbett also had a pretty successful spell on his own after it too. He always made me smile and thats not a bad thing to remember about him.

RIP Ronnie Corbett.

I used to love Small Talk. I looked at it on wikipedia and it aired 1994-96, so I was 8 to 10 years old, and more or less the age of the kids that appeared on it. Just watched an episode now, and it's strange to go from being their peer to being 20 (wow) years older than them.

Ronnie Barker was one of those that if I found out he was part of that paedo ring would be particularly hard to learn. i'm not suggesting in any way that he was, mind.

But Ronnie Corbett wouldn't have raised a shrug?

What i liked about The Two Ronnies was they didn't need to swear or shout go make us laugh, we used to all. watch it as a family together with nobody being offended. We're only jjust into April and it's already been a horrible year for celeb deaths, Ronnie,Terry Wogan and Lemmy to name just a few.

I don't think the increase in celebrity deaths (not sure if it's an increase or just an increase in *star* celebrities dying) is that surprising. Television as an entertainment medium only really started to permeate society in the late 60's and early 70's. Television went from a source of information (stuff broadcasters thought you really ought to know) to a source of news, politics, comedy, music and film (basically all-encompassing entertainment).

Apart from a few outliers (Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, etc.), this period saw the proliferation of mega-celebrities and these people are now all 60+, it only makes sense that we will see more of them die off. I expect most years from now on will be like this. The frequency is actually likely to increase, there are more and more celebrities with each passing year.

The difference being a lot of the older celebs actually had talent and worked for their craft, would anyone give two hoots if Simon Cowell or Jordan popped their clogs tomorrow?
