Salty mate had a few drams by the looks of it.

Well, the first one drops, Mascherano retires. Definitely the right decision. Wonder who else follows him?

Who do you think matches them at that level from the sides left? I can only think of Spain. Brave call. I think you're wrong but hope you're right -- would love to see an unfancied side win it.

For me, Spain will turn it on when needed. I’d fancy the Spanish in a final. I also think Brazil will be out to right the wrongs of 2014 should they make the semis. Even Uruguay in the quarters will be horrible for France to have to break down.

They played very well in stages today but there were still too many sloppy periods. I also don’t rate Deschamps.

Just my gut feeling

Superb game of football, although the score line did flatter Argentina

Mbappe - what a player though and at only 19, could he be the next Ronaldo?

I see that your prediction on who's going to win hasn't changed and neither have mine. Spain will beat us if we meet.
Disagree about not rating Deschamps. He's an excellent manager, just been stuck in international management for too long.

I’ll give you the bottom bit. Didn’t realise how much he’d achieved at club level until looking. I do feel he’s had you underperforming though. Your team should be bossing games so much more.

Just pops into a France vs Argentina thread to have a pop at England. So very sad.

To answer your question though, Kane has two more goals having played two less.

A pop at England? It was a comment Lineker was widely ridiculed for when he made it.

Might be worth clarifying if he still thinks. He's certainly getting an enormous daily wage in Russia to be doing very little.

And as your final statement, how on earth does that answer my question? What does Kane have to do with anything?

It was clearly a dig. You could have just complimented Mbappe but instead you brought that up.

Bollocks. You’ve got me there. Don’t know why I thought you said Kane.

I'd be genuinely interested to hear Linekers answer.

He clearly got it wrong at the time, and when it was pointed out he dug deeper. Will it be brought up again?

Has Lineker ever admitted he was wrong?

France aren't winning this World Cup. They were good but the majority of teams in the last 16 are better than this Argentina side. Still not fully convinced by the French. Very up and down in terms of level.

I was so wrong.
