Holdsworth will be very interested in this job as there's already a good texture to this Tranmere squad.

Steve Evans is my outside bet for the Tranmere job. Fits in with the FL experience which Boz points to, has won promotion from this league twice, and did a tremendous job with a similar sized club in Rotherham. He'll be damaged goods after Leeds and will need to start again. The downside is he's a detestable human being and Tranmere deserve better than that, but I think he's the best available if he's interested.

A guy in the know on the tranmere forum has suggested we're waiting for Micky Mellon to be sacked by shrewsbury.

A guy in the know on the tranmere forum has suggested we're waiting for Micky Mellon to be sacked by shrewsbury.

That is likely to be very suitable outcome for all concerned.

Mellon is completely out of his depth in League 1, he's rapidly loosing the plot and/or his sanity based on recent ramblings and our fan base won't put up with him for much longer unless there is a major turn around in the next two or three weeks. He and his family are also still based in the North West as far as I know.

Mellon is on a rolling one year contract at Town, maybe some kind of deal can be done which sees him move to Tranmere but would also be seen as a face saving exercise for all concerned without him being sacked. Our Chairman very rarely sacks managers.

Jackie Mac is apparently "considering his position". It could now hardly be clearer that it hasn't worked.

Mills: "If Wrexham want me as manager then great, if they don't I'll move on. "I've moved on before, whether by choice or not, but while I'm here I'll give it everything I've got - I always do - and we'll see where that takes us."
