Never thought we would both be in the top two in October so will enjoy this fixture whilst we are both here. Don't expected to stay top so will make the most of it.
Sunny weather forecast, hopefully brings a good crowd from both teams.
Can see a tight game, and I'm going for a nervy 0-0 or 1-1.

Why can't we stay up the top end of the league lad ? Have seen nothing on the pitch to suggest otherwise. Granted we havn't the resources of some clubs in this league but we have belief throughout the club.
Tomorrow will be a tough and probably tight game, come 5 o'clock we will know a bit more about ourselves.
Looks like we will be taking well in excess of 1000 so should be a good atmosphere.
Always had a soft spot for the saddlers as I sometimes visited the old Fellows Park as a lad. But no time for sentiment tomorrow.

Why can't we stay there? I guess it's English pessimism....

I'm confident of beating anyone away - not at home, we lose more often than not, struggle to break teams down or miss our chances. I suppose you could say that someone will be on the end of a rollocking at the Bescot one day soon. I doubt it will be tommorrow. Burton strike me as a side who work very hard for each other, are defensively very tight and have just enough in the wide areas/upfront to pinch games by the odd goal. I expect them to play like that tommorrow and if they do, it will be a very hard game for us.

We are a very capable side, but it's just very hard to judge us based on the last 2-3 years playing at home. We will probably be very pretty on the eye though.

0-1 Beavon.
Be nice to nudge over 5k at home for once.

Albion will bring a lot more than a 1000 today I feel and with no other big games on in the West Midlands I reckon you will easy top 5,000.
Similar thoughts on the game myself to be honest, 0-0, 1-1 or 1-0 either way the most likely outcome.
Great that our first competitive meeting is at the top of league one. Looking forward to the occasion, enjoy the game all and a safe journey to and fro for everyone.

It's going to be a good occasion. Hope the match lives up to the billing.
Don't expect a goalfest at all though.

It was only 750 to Chesterfield the other week wasn't it? Where does that ocmpare geographically speaking? I thought 1,000 would be a good following. For anyone that can't make it, this is streamed as the live game at 3PM on various sources. I've got that horrible feeling it's going to be a dismal home defeat, where we huff and puff, can't break Burton down and then concede midway through the second half.

13/5 Burton with the bookies. Good price that.

Burton won't score enough goals to stay in the top 2 imo, they have a great chance of play offs though.

Excellent win. It was great to see us stick with a bigger side, not be able to play our football as we normally do and then still be able to win the game. Credit to Burton, they were as I expected. Hard working, organised and physical with just enough to look a threat going forward at times. Thought we controlled the last 20 minutes of the first half (this being the outstanding period of the game for either side) and had the best chances at the very end to make 2/3. Burton had a lot of possession in the second half, but looked very blunt upfront. The high energy approach for the entire game will make teams tire enough for Burton to get enough late 1 goal wins to keep them around the top 8 for the season. Akins was terrible though, I must say.

I thought Sawyers was outstanding again, little Rico Henry is frightening for 18 years old - tenacious, strong and has the ability to beat a man. Kinsella slotted in for Demetriou with ease, hopefully those kinds of performances will be replicated in the future when Demetriou inevitable leaves. Chambers deserved MOTM though, that was his best performance in a Walsall shirt for years - he actually tackled, won the ball back and then distributed - IE his job, the one he's predominantly neglected for 4 years.

The best thing about the entire day for me yesterday is that we looked to have a decent SQUAD. We had 4 youth teamers out of 18, 3 on the pitch and only 3 players over 25 in the entire starting 18. Demetriou and Etheridge missing, Kinsella and MacGillivray slotted in and yet, we still had Cook, Forde, Morris, Lalkovic and Baxendale to come off the bench. That's got to be one of the strongest benches I can remember us having and has to be one of the better benches in the division.

6 goals conceded, the best in the entire top 4 divisions. I'd rather we were a bit more fluid at the back, as strange as that sounds - I hate it when you get a record like that as the media make big things of it and then you tend to hear Jeff on SSN on a Saturday say something along the lines of 'Walsall had conceded only 6 in 12 goals, but this afternoon they've already conceded 4' when the collapse happens.

Superb start to the season. 25 points to safety and then let's see where we are/when we are.

Brillant work from Deano and the squad.

Starting 18?

No wonder you won.

Walsall were the better team on the day, thought we lacked creativity without El Khayati.
How many fans does the end Albion fans were in hold ? Looked way more than 1300 in there.

Used to be 1,800 but they filled the first 2 rows in. Chelsea sold it out at 1500 the other week I believe, Burton had seats at either end block and a few dotted around. 1300 is about right. Decent following though. I thought around 1k would be the top end of your following.

Was nice to get almost 7k in for once, it's only 6-7 years ago that would have been a very disappointing gate.

Thanks Sadlerrad, I thought the offer of a £5 ticket for a season ticket holder was good marketing as was the deal I utilised of bringing an under 12 year old free with a paying adult.
Shame we under performed but I enjoyed the match and definitely thought you deserved to win.
