It does seem daft that clubs (my own included) tolerate standing in certain seated areas when safe standing is obviously safer.
Whether the authorities will alow it seems a no brainer but I have my doubts they will.

How hard do you Shrewsbury folk reckon it'll be to get tickets for the safe standing section next season? I'd like to go in it for a game but I figure it'll be in high demand.

Pretty much every study shows it’s fine now. As long as there’s proper ticketing, don’t put fences around it, and don’t make each section too big.

Plenty of examples of clubs, like Brentford, where they have terracing and no problems at all.

Surely the law will have to change at some point?
We, like most, have taken the potential for safe standing into account during our rebuild but we would need a change in both the standing laws and a revocation of the 3 year rule to be able to install it. I guess, with your new build, you would be in exactly the same position?

The EFL support it (about the only thing Harvey has done right), Scudamore opposes it although last time the PL clubs were surveyed most were in favour, not sure if the FA have a stance or if there's anything they could do about it unless Wembley cropped up in the conversation (so, no then).

I've been to many games as a neutral when we've not been playing or I've been unable to get to an away game; including Wembley for Non-League Finals Day last year, it's great going to watch footy without really caring about the result. I'd never support another club like.

Plus, the sooner we can get the extra income, the better! Will bugger up getting season tickets I’m sure

isn't there a rule you cannot play your home games at more than one stadium in a season, it is in the PL as that is why clubs who have moved and aren't quite ready have their first few away and play catch up.

There are, but we and the EFL are playing fast and loose with the rules on this one.

Easier than forcing us to put seats in which we don’t want to do.

Update. I get an email this morning about the petition to the Government to allow safe Standing.

The Government’s response to this petition has changed. This change was made on Tuesday 12 June 2018.

This is because the Petitions Committee (the group of MPs who oversee the petitions system) did not think that the Government’s first response was satisfactory, because it did not give any explanation for the Government’s view.

The Committee wrote to the Government to ask for a new response which answered the petition more fully.

The original response, which has now been replaced, was as follows:
The Government believes that all-seater stadia are currently the best means to ensure the safety and security of fans at designated football matches in England and Wales.

The Government thanks all the football supporters who made their views known through this petition.

The Government believes that all-seater stadia are currently the best means to ensure the safety and security of fans at designated football matches in England and Wales, while continuing to work closely with the Sports Grounds Safety Authority and football authorities to consider advances in technology and data that may enhance the existing policy.
