On paper this should be an easy 3 points but York have the freedom of knowing they're safe and that can be dangerous. Hopefully this will create an open game and everyone who's come to our ground and played that way have gone back defeated (bar Northampton).

Absolutely gutted that that donkey Winfield isn't playing.

Shrewsbury 2-0 York - Mangan double from the bench infront of a crowd of 7100.

I wouldn't say it would be easy, we are unbeaten in six, four of which have been wins, and we have been surprisingly decent on the road this year.
That said, I do think you will win but if you turn up with an attitude of an easy win, you may come unstuck- I think we will make it difficult for you.
2-1 Shrews

I'm not expecting a huge amount from this to be honest, but on the other hand our away form has been decent all season and we're on a good run just now, so you never know. I'm predicting a 2-0 win for Shrews, though.

Winfield has been far from a donkey since he came back from the Wombles on loan - he's hardly fast but that matters less when he plays centrally in a back three as he has been doing, and he scored a crucial goal against Cheltenham. One of our best players over the last few weeks.

On the other hand, we'll most likely have Zubar instead, who really is fast and scored on Tuesday...

What do York fans think of Zubar? He was well liked during his loan spell with Bury and was all set to sign in the summer of 2013 before an injury put an end to any chances of that happening at the time.

good player, very quick and decent in the air. The majority of us want him to sign for next season (free agent in the summer) but he has said in the paper that he is essentially keeping his options open, although he said that the new stadium may entice better players to sign. The last comment and the fact we are now safe and he knows the set up may see him sign up. If our owners put their hands in their pockets to boost the playing budget further for our last year at BC, he will hopefully stay

I'm certainly not expecting an easy game. I reckon it will be a tense nervy game and one goal might win it. Just hope we score it!

We certainly need to win it if we have any chance of the title

Its ok we've still got McCombe if its lack of pace you're talking about. Another ex of yours Summerfield is doubtful. He's our only remotely creative midfielder so he would be missed.

I'll link you Winfield's infamous tackle from last season against Peterborough iirc. He tried a new method of tackling using his head haha.

Summerfield is a class player at this level, just struggles with injuries. He spent long periods out with us otherwise he would have been offered a contract.

Ive seen the Winfield 'tackle'. I like Summerfield but for some reason not all our fans have been won over.

Summerfield is a good player, I can't really understand why he isn't more highly rated here. I think a lot of people haven't been able to get over his early season form when he was clearly not fully fit.

This you have just about all that wrong, towards the top of the form table and one of the highest scoring away teams in the division, on top of that Winfield has been great since returning from his loan spell. However Summerfield is out and we're now safe so I expect a home win.

I'm referring to the 32 points between the sides, the respective home and away records (16-4-1 --- 6-8-7). As impressive as all that is, on paper this should be a Shrewsbury win. However if football was played on paper, it would be rather boring. I was also referring to Winfield who probably the worst in a terrible relegation side last year that had some real poor players.

Don't worry, we won't take you lightly. We haven't taken anyone lightly all season (bar perhaps Hartlepool away and Exeter away 2nd half!)

From what I've seen of York:

I like Zubar, really good centre-back at this level, a must-sign for me.

LB and RB areas are weak - Ilesanmi is never a L2 player, McCoy isn't much better, I hope they're getting shipped out in the summer. Haven't been that impressed with Penn in the middle either despite his wonder goal the other night.

Need a goalscorer as well - Hyde is decent but won't really get more than 10 a season.

Should be a Shrews win on Saturday but who knows, York have had more than their share of good results recently.

I agree it should be a win, but easy win ? With our ability to away away goals at a good level not for me, I think a home win but I don't expect it to be easy.

I was not that impressed with Hyde first half of the season but he has improved. With a better team around him and staying fit I'm fairly confident he will get around the 15 mark next season which at league two level is a decent amount.

With York now being safe I think that makes them dangerous opponents, as they can play without fear. Also their away record and current form suggests that they won't be pushovers. Saying that, I think we should win this one, tho it will be closer than some of our fans may think (not those on here I hasten to add).

Would be a bonus if Summerfield doesn't play. I was a fan of his when he played for us last season. His dad was the first footballers autograph I ever got when I start watching Shrewsbury in 1991!

I'll go for a nervy (on our part) 2-1 home win.

I want some of that paper!

Having said that, 2-0 to the home team.

I think this will be close,as stated York can enjoy the game with no pressure and could even be a draw or dare I say it a defeat as the tension rises for our players as we approach the finish line, so would take a 1-0 or 2-1 win!

Read the post above where I say why on paper it is. I also said I don't expect an easy game haha! Don't understand what's so hard to comprehend. Also we are top of the form table (6 games), York are 3rd. What form table are you looking at?

Tbh I read that we were top on our forum, but having now checked it, it appears not!

I'll take third though.

I think York are top of a form table for the last five games, but last six is a more usual form table to look at.

We're 7th over the last 10 games, for what it's worth. More importantly, we're 18th over the last 43...

Sounded like we gave our usual good away performance and may have been slightly unlucky. Something to build on for next season.

Job done. Decent enough game with plenty of chances. We missed a couple of sitters whilst York had some good efforts from range.

York got their tactics right by pressing hard, totally different to Exeter last week. I think we JUST about deserved it, although Leutwiler made some important stops in the second half from long range efforts.

I can see how York pick up points away from home. Their midfield looked pretty good today, but they lacked a cutting edge up front.

On to next week now and hopefully get that point for promotion, 3 would be better! Good luck to York for next season!

And good luck to yourselves, hopefully we can give it a go ourselves next season, it would be nice to move into the new stadium as a league one team.

If you can keep Summerfield and Penn together, and fit, then they could help you push on. Impressed with them today.

Is the new ground an out of town build like ours? Would be a shame, as I enjoyed my first trip to Bootham a Crescent this year.

Sadly it is, a lack of suitable available sites and the cost of land in York along with the inability to develop BC over the years for various reasons meant we are ending up with a community stadium mostly funded by private money. It's not really what anyone wants and we're ending up with yet another identikit, all seater stadium which I'm no fan of. People can moan all they like about the crap facilities and toilets but we're slowly losing all the traditional grounds that actually have a bit of character which I think is a shame. I visited the old Shrews ground 20 years or so ago and loved the day, still remember it. Plus points are obviously the extra off field revenue which should see the club in a stronger financial position.

Well, it wasn't quite the easy win some were expecting...but we still lost, so it's not like there are bragging rights to be had. We were never going to win that but a draw wouldn't have flattered us unduly, one of the best performances of what has been a mostly pretty awful season. Well done to Shrews, who will surely be going up. One of the very few teams in League 2 who have looked the part. A shame we're unlikely to be visiting next season as it's a decent day out.

Met a few of your knowledgable fans at the Brooklands before the game. Was good to have a bit of banter about Winfield and talk some football with fellow fans. You look a very good outfit, much improved from earlier in the season. Keep summerfield fit and Penn and stick with your system and you'll do fine. Quite a few on our forum have tipped you to make the playoffs next year.
