yet more red hot third-tier action to savour. Woo.

For us, 21st in the form table faces the might of 24th, so I'm expecting an epic spectacle of liquid football.

Our new lad from non-league, Richard Kone, scored on his debut tonight in the Tinpot, and will probably go straight into the squad off the back of a decent shift - think of a less gangly and awkward version of Uche Ikpeazu, and you're about there. But he's still a bit green.

Would be nice to give the top two a bloody nose but cant see Bolton as accommodating as Portsmouth, would be more than happy with a point and no injuries but can't see past a home win.

Could this finally be the time that we beat a top half side?

Answer: no.

Look at that last 10 form table…

Wigan (h) for us. Fancy us to get something as we’ve had a week off and hopefully can get some players back in/the players who were knackered have had a good rest. Would probably take a draw just to keep the points tally ticking along.

Any positive result at Bolton will be a bonus. We're not expected to get anything, and I certainly won't be expecting anything.

That being said, we won't go down without a proper fight.

After Wycombe, we have Derby and Posh...so off the back of losing the last four, it doesn't take a genius to work out that we need to be winning this, really.

We're without Mandroiu (suspended), O'Connor (suspended), House (hip), Walker (hamstring), Montsma (ACL) and probably Erhahon (ankle). Doubts over Roughan and Burroughs, too. Vale and Shodipo have departed since our last game on NYD.

Jack Moylan, Freddie Draper and Joe Taylor have come in/returned during the first week of the transfer window, who between them had the same amount of goal involvements (52) in 2023 as our entire squad did! Albeit at a lower level, so we'll have to see if that transfers to L1. We should have Reeco back, which is another attacking body.

It'll be interesting to see whether we change formation or not. It wouldn't surprise me if we went closer to 5-3-2 than the 5-2-3 we've generally played for ages. Skubala is going to have to start changing a few bits and pieces now we're into January and had a full week or so on the training pitch.

Wycombe looked stuck between two ways of playing earlier in the season with lots of neat passing that went nowhere but ended up looking for Vokes anyway. We've both got very similar records, so I'm not expecting a high scoring game or anything like that.

100% accurate, and we still are a bit that way (i.e. caught between two stools), but we have been playing with 4 at the back of late, which has helped our (mostly directionless) attack, having another player pushed a little forward.

We have gone a bit more hoofy too, almost like Bloomfield has accepted our limitations and that our players just aren't good enough for the purist ball-on-the-deck approach.

Hopefully Vale can make the £29 have spent on a ticket worth it. Needs to be a lot better than our last away performance at Carlisle otherwise the same fate will await us. The good news for us is all of a sudden we’ve stopped fannying around with the ball for the majority of the game and looking to play it forwards, unsurprisingly the goals tally has gone upwards. Must just be a coincidence. Looking forward to see how Jensen Weir fits into the team with Devine and Chislett.

Big game really, lose it we are only 4 points off relegation spots despite steady form the past 4/5 weeks, win and its 10 points if Cheltenham lose at Bolton and then it looks a real big gap.

Sitting in the middle though I fancy a 2-2 draw here.

The last new ground for me to complete League One.

Expensive day (£99 for tickets and travel) so hopefully we get a result.

Our 2 worst performances of this wretched season have been against Cambridge. The first home match in August and we even surpassed that in the 2nd round of the F A Cup when it was utterly shambolic and disgraceful
I hope Charlie Adam can bring some pride back into the side and literally get them playing as a team, I am optimistic
We are not yet down and out and will prove this winning 2-1. !!!

Erhahon pictured in training, which is good news. Hopefully it was full training rather than on his own.

Forgot that Sorenson went off injured against Blackpool and Jackson also missed that game (illness) so they're another two who could still be in the treatment room for this one!

Is it me, or are players far more mollie coddled these days? It seems like most teams have got loads of injuries. I'm sure that some of these players could actually play but for whatever reason they're not.

It might be me, but you used to get 1, maybe 2 players at most out with injury and that was usually a serious one. Now it seems like any little twinge puts them out for weeks. When I used to play football (obviously not to the professional level), most players were available every week. If I had a knock, I just got on with it.

Too much analysis and sports science in my view rather than asking the player how they actually feel.

As for the game, typically after being shite for weeks, Reading seem to have turned a corner, just in time to play us. We seem to always play teams right at the end of a long poor run, which they will inevitably end at some point or a team that has been shit but has picked up.

Once again, we're down to the bare bones, but at least Weir gives us another option in midfield and also a potential attacking threat. Frustratingly after months of boring people to death, we're scoring 2 or 3 every game at the moment bit we still defend like under 8s. If we could get the 2 working together we'd be a hell of a team!

I'm going for a draw but we've been very poor in our last 2 or 3 away games so that's optimistic if anything.

If anyone is looking for a late Christmas present from Bet365, Peterborough are 6/5.

I can`t see it being worth it but hope you enjoy the day. We are still a bit short with all the injuries after a mad 11 games in 33 days but at least with no midweek game this week perhaps we will be a bit fresher.

Don’t know who will win your game but FWIW Charlton are now a mainstay for me on BTTS going forward.

Despite our recent improvement and even if we strengthen beforehand, I can’t see anything other than a Blackpool win. Jordan Rhodes loves playing against us, so expect him to score a couple at least. I just hope we try and take the game to them rather than attempt to defend our way to a point, as we’re crap at that.

3-1 Blackpool

We didn't play last week, which in the end was a bit of a shame as our form has picked up. Seven points over Christmas and three clean sheets. Having said that, we do have injuries in the attacking areas.

I would expect the same team to start against Portsmouth, Dan Agyei is now slowly finding his way into the team and scored last time out so hoping he can build on that after his long term injury.

Portsmouth have already beaten us twice at home, think this one will be tighter than the 4-0 loss we suffered back in August but we will need to score first to stand any chance of getting anything, last time away at one of the leagues bigger clubs Bolton we was 3-0 down inside the first eight minutes and a few players crumbled a bit so it'll be interesting to see the squad reaction to this game now.

We've nearly sold out the initial 1200 ticket allocation.

We need to be at it this weekend. Home fans are getting abit edgy with the amount of missed chances over the xmas period. To get our season back on track a comforatble home win is needed. If we miss a few decent opportunities in the first half I can see FP faithful getting restless which will play into Orients hands. I fully expect Piggott to score at some point. Going a nervy 2-1 win

Ah Barnsley, another jinxed ground for us as we don't seem to ever do well there.
Last win was in 1991 and have lost all 4 games there since including a 0-3 and 1-4.
We should have beaten them at home and they will probably admit that but I think they will win by the odd goal maybe 1-2.

I was there in 1991. Think it was 1 nil. Also there for that FA cup slaughter.

Tbf, Bolton & Pompey have been bad grounds/teams for us too.

Apart from the forever jynx that is Wycombe, I fancy us to give Barnsley a good game tbh.

A must win if we want to make a dash for play offs (too far IMO)

Stevenage at home.

Taylor said that over a week ago that we would have signed one or two players by now and still nothing. So we head into get another game on our arses and decimated with injuries. We’ve recalled Tom Bloxham from Morecambe but is apparently heading straight back out on loan to a different League 2 club so is unavailable for this weekend.

The change of formation with us now playing wingers in the last two matches has seen us create much more chances, unfortunately we haven’t got anybody to put the ball into the net as Udoh is out for 5 weeks and Mata and Bowman just aren’t up to this level. Should be somewhat exciting should we start both the lads from Waterford on the wings (Tunmise Sobowale and Roland Idowu). Sobowale is looking like a great buy from part time Waterford, one of those players that as soon as he gets the ball the fans are out of their seats which hasn’t happened too much recently at Salop.

I don’t know why, but have a strange feeling we’re going to shithouse a win this weekend.

Salop 1-0 Stevenage

Still no strikers through the door and we have sent the deeply disappointing Gordon back to Palace, so no clue how we will do on Sat. Surely Fleetwood can’t be as bad as they were in the cup, so actually a little worried about this one now.

Oxford at home. The first in a run of games that included a lot of tough games against teams at the top. A run which will see us all but relegated by the end of it I expect.

It’s really hard to look beyond a comfortable away win in this one as we are a truly terrible team from back to front. Oxford beat us at their place in a fairly close 1-0, but we’re a much worse team now than we were then.

I’m hoping the new signings improve us but it will be a big ask for them to make a difference this quick.

You didn't mention anything about us being the 'worst' team! :ohm:

That goes without saying, until the team proves to me otherwise in its performances on the pitch over a consistent period.
