I'd stop it yeah. This new variant is too infectious. Seeing Cotterill end up in intensive care makes you think someone in the EFL could well die if nothing is done soon. It's not practical having groups of 30 people travelling up and down the country playing a contact sport, with the accuracy of testing being doubtful.

Tbh I wouldn't be totally against binning the season off and starting with fans back in August.

i think they'd more likely cancel it than pause it - not sure how we can fit the fixtures in otherwise.

Pugh was on about the covid stuff in his press conference last week. they use two coaches to travel to away games now and two dressing rooms when training. hopefully that means half the squad are safe at the very least. Not sure how the dressing room situation is working at away games though, and not sure what away teams are doing at vale park come to think of it, surely they're not forcing whole squads into one dressing room when the stadium is empty?

They could pause it until March and finish early July if needed and restart in September, means another year like this season but would allow us to finish it and get sorted, can’t imagine L2 and L1 will see many wizzing off to the Euros! Chance of fans then as well which would financially help!

On Saturday I think we changed in their restaurant bit so they could use 2 dressing rooms hence why we came out of different ends of the pitch. (FGR fans may know though!) but sure their commentary team mentioned it.

Yeah you were using an area upstairs in the main stand. Not sure of exactly where, but there is enough space you could use in the bars/suites plus there's the gym changing rooms downstairs although that would mean climbing quite a few stairs (can't imagine you'd use the lift). .

nice, knacker out the opposition just before the game, making them do a load of stairs!

With the age of some of our lads would probably need oxygen!

I'm ok with a 4-6 week long pause, but certainly not with scrapping everything. I know we're having a good season but I would still say the same thing if we were down in the bottom 4. Nor am I saying this cos Boateng would be fit to play in a months time, though that would be wonderful of course. I just don't want a repeat of last years with the whole ppg idea that was implemented to determine promotion/relegation.

Speaking of last season, have the EFL decided anything about the way to proceed if the season is cut short again sometime in the future?

ps - and if the EFL ppg'ed the season right now, that would mean we would've to say goodbye to the Grimsby posters on here and that's just not on. They're all great chaps. And if that's not bad enough, then Bolton staying up on ppg surely is! ;)

Not sure, think PPG needs a certain number of games done. My Suggestion was base it on the first 23 games if scrapped so everyone has played everyone once.

Sounds like a couple of cases. Adam Yates also positive.

Not good, all the best to the bloke always a worry to catch this. Would think you'll need to isolate quite a few given they travelled on the coach, all been in the dressing room/team talk etc.

Given it takes 5 days for symptoms to show, you have to hope the lateral flow tests on our players/staff are accurate enough, Cooper has expressed his doubts on the accuracy of these anyway, otherwise we could be bringing it to Tranmere tomorrow.

They don’t have great accuracy as far as I’ve read.

Montano missed the game but was asymptomatic and had played at Sunderland so issue is with no symptoms this could have passed to Danny, he’s been in the dressing room and training with the lads and his staff so could see more this week.

We’ve had one player isolating since mid December pretty much, Conlon for 2 weeks then Crookes and then Monty now Pugh.

May be wise to pause it in my view and the situation with Cotterill may finally see sense prevail. Is it worth it?
The lateral flow tests are pretty accurate if used as part of repeated testing as they are in the EFL.
