Came back from T’North today after seeing friends after the game Saturday. So I’ll Chuck my opinions in here now albeit a bit late.

In my opinion a draw was the right result. Neither side played particularly well I’d suggest but also neither deserved to lose. The only definite loser in the game was the ref who was absolutely shocking. And his linesman (not that him being so poor condones some Wednesday fans who repeatedly threw stuff at him to the extent that the game was one more coin away from being postponed at 2-0 apparently). The ref was terrible and whilst plenty of decisions went our way, the two most important decisions (the handball he refused to give us for a penalty and their equaliser being given despite Smith being on his own in the middle and two whole yards offside ffs) went the way of Wednesday.

Wolfenden, Donacien and Edmundsen yet again for us in defence were fantastic. That back three are quite a trio. My Arsenal supporting mate who came with me thought Donacien was MOTM by a mile. I’d be inclined to agree it was him or Wolfy anyway.

I thought Wednesday started better even despite our goal. I then thought we ended the half on top. We then we’re definitely the better side until our second goal. But it was that exact moment we lost our heads. What should have been the killer blow was instead the moment it went to pot. Burns gave away a stupid foul, they’ve scored from a set piece and weve just sat back and back and back until eventually a bit of class from Bannan to find the winger and a simple pass across for their striker to score (even though he’s blatantly offside).

All that said, asides from 25 minutes of the second half where we looked good, we didn’t play anywhere near like what we have done this season on most games. So I can’t complain at not taking the three points. At times Wednesday looked good, albeit mostly three didn’t. Some of their fans outside the ground thought a draw was fair, others thought we just gave them two points at the end. I think a point a piece myself was the right outcome.

Coming out of the ground, I was gutted. A win there would’ve been huge. And it was such a good away day pretty much until the equaliser that it just felt like a loss of two points rather than one gained. But if you offered me a draw beforehand and to continue our unbeaten start, I’d have taken it. So I won’t now sit here being too disappointed at the result, even if it was one where McKenna will have bollocked our lads after the game for not seeing it out, and then also probably the FA for having such incompetent officiating.

Bottom line is that the fact most Town fans left Hillsborough Saturday gutted to have only drawn tells the story that we should be excited for a good season. Roll on Plymouth on Sunday.

Now I know you should never use a still to make a decision, but using the cut of the pitch, he's not even offside is he? The ball's in front of him for a start.

It looks close on the side still picture I've seen but on video looks off, shows how tight it actually was.

Here is the best angle I’ve seen to judge it. Certainly isn’t 2 yards offside.

Of course the most important thing to realise is that we've been looking at this from a number of angles, and it's 4 days since the game, etc... The linesman and ref had a split second to make said decision.

Yet there will be some people giving shit to both of them regardless of the decision they made.

The two-yards thing keeps cropping up. At the weekend, Danny Cowley said that the ball was two yards over the line in a goalmouth scramble. I don't think so. It may have crossed the line but we're talking inches here. Two yards and the net would probably be rippling.

Two yards behind Scunthorpe's goal and it's half way in the crowd!

My initial reaction when I was watching the highlights I thought the Wednesday goal was miles offside.
