I don't understand why clubs keep giving him chances, the lack of imagination is staggering. You're a multi million pound business and your main man has a history that's veered between plodding mediocrity with a huge budget to garbage with a large budget....for years, everywhere he's been.
Not a dig at Bradford, loads of clubs do it and I genuinely wonder how successful business men get it so wrong with glaringly bad managerial appointments.
Our CEO is a glorified twitter admin. That's why we appointed Hughes.

I think we should try the tactic of the opposition goalkeeper getting sent off in the first 15 more often. Seems to work for us.
We were terrible on the day but I thought you were really very efficient and would do well.
A tiny part of me thought Rob Milsom was on his last legs five years ago when he left us and how can we be so far off the pace. I think we've had to adjust and you flew out the blocks.

First decent team we’ve faced today and we were a million miles away. Stockport should’ve had five or six but for poor finishing and misplaced crossing.

We should’ve been playing 10-men after Knoyle kicked Duffus’ face off, but that aside we never even threatened. Definitely not a top-half team without a handful of new signings before the window shuts.
When did Barrow get as arrogant as Mansfield?

Pleased with where Notts are after that worrying opening day at Sutton. Emphatically eased concerns around our attacking style not being as effective in L2, we’re going to score a hatful.

Not sure about the defence obviously, feels like Williams has once again proven himself to be a very good manager and found a short-term solution with Brindley playing in the middle but it still feels like we need a longer-term solution (i.e. procuring some defenders who can defend) - the curious case of Ollie Tipton continues…

p.s. Doncaster are terrible. What’s gone wrong at that club.

I’ve just posted about how bad we were???

Ah, it’s because I thought Sutton were crap the other week. My apologies.

Get shot of Tozer. He’s a useless lump of a defender. Just playing because of his throws isn’t really paying off.
Him and sloth at the back are useless they will leak goals with them playing together we should have put 4 past them but they could have had 6 also in fairness wide open game.

As I said above, the first hour was the worst I've seen us play for ages - we massively got away with that. I don't think we are shite but we played like we are for most of the game today. It's probably what happens when there's so many teenagers in the team, but we have only played well in patches so far this season.
Yeah i should have said were today bit harsh was still angry at us chucking it away again like that piss poor game management.

Might petition the FA to get our club name changed to the above, it's literally the story of our season.

BTW even the most biased County fan would agree that Knoyle should have had a straight red, getting studs up into someone the height of Duffus is ridiculous. KK basically cut him a new nostril.

Just really surprised at some of the comments from you guys. Thought pretty grounded historically. Are expectations just really high for some reason? Have you spent big money?

We finished top-half last season and have a top-half budget - we should be better than we are.

Poor today. Unambitious I thought which surprised me. Heard Wild's interview before the game, no pressure, underdogs, just go there and have a go etc. Really thrives on being the underdog. Would that attitude get him a job at a bigger club elsewhere? Will the Barrow fans get a bit bored of that rhetoric?

All depends, it’s all relative now.

where are clubs like barrow or whoever supposed to aim for?

If you’re a barrow, a sutton, a harrogate they’re here having a holiday, they go back down you’ll never hear of them again. Despite that all clubs equally deserve to be in this league

If they’ve a decent manager who they’re confident will do the job they want to, why not keep him.

I wasn't suggesting they'd get rid of him, he's done well for Barrow and they'll be mid table this season but he's often talked about as an upcoming manager. I think he'd probably be linked with the Bradford job for example if they were to dispose of Hughes. He'd have to really re-think his underdog approach there. They were a threat last season, I just thought they were terrible today in terms of ambition. Maybe a one off.

The comedic start to the season Wrexham are having will just make it even more annoying when they appoint a good manager in October, buy the two best players in League 1 in January and have a glorious yet nauseating title charge - Welcome to Wrexham Season 3, coming soon to Disney+

By the way, I do find it quite endearing that Reynolds and McElhenney tweet stuff along the lines of ‘that was exciting wasn’t it guys?!’ when any self-respecting lower league fan/aficionado knows the only correct response to conceding 5 goals at home is calling for a public execution of the entire back 4.

With that defence?

No chance! LOL
It's shite like yourselves getting promoted that gives us hope. You're far worse than us and went up so I feel like we'll be fine.

All the talk about Wrexham no chance on earth they will go back down but neither will they go up with that defence mid table beckons unless they sort that out they beat us but the game was wide open and at times could have gone either way some terrible refereeing and poor defending ourselves cost us and made it easy for them in the end. They also have not played anyone fancied yet other than possibly MK and they lost and conceded 5 again at home the better teams will exploit the defensive weakness and be more solid at the back than the likes of us and Swindon.

He should never have signed on again, he has noticeably slowed down even since the end of last season. We've got 5 keepers but we still need a number 1, ridiculous situation to be in.

I think this latest disaster will mean a lot of spending in the next 2 weeks. The powers that be will be shocked at what's happening in these games I reckon and will have to authorise some spending.
Spending on what though?

The only place you look weak on paper is up top and you score shitloads even with Mullin missing.

Surely it’s the tactics that need a tweak?

You know you’ve been dreadful when you make an Adams side look reasonably attacking. Someone at the club needs serious words with Hughes to tell him this isn’t acceptable, but they won’t because non of them know fuck all about football.
This result didn’t surprise me after watching you Tuesday.

A change of formation to save his job?

Ended 0-1 at Crawley with some sort of punch up at the end.

I feel we had the better of the game but it was close all over the pitch.

A few things to take from that.

Ogie/Ogle is a decent defender. His cross for the goal. Breaking up play, got back for a great headed clearance. Just a good defender.

We lost but we weren't crap. The difference between today and last seasons fixture is chalk and cheese. It's annoying to lose but sometimes you just have to suck it up.

Chalton loanee, Aaron Henry, came on in the second half for us. There's a decent player there. Not spectacular, but when he found himself in space he stayed still and he was rotating the ball and weighed in with a few defence splitting passes.

I have no idea what constitutes a foul anymore. I think both sets of players and both sets of fans didn't believe the decisions from the ref. I know they have been told to let physical contact go but there is a difference between physical contact and blatant assault. There were the tippy tappy fouls from last season still being given and blatant pushes in the back waved on. I'm sure Gillingham fans will come on here and say the should have more fouls given but we should have had two more penalties. The first the defender tried to tackle missed the ball caught the man. The second our player was just shoved in the back. One smiley moment though. Gills player tried to shield the ball near our touchline and he was almost shoved into the stand and the ref gave a throw in to us.

Gills remind me of Orient last season. Good shout to be up there.

Casey
I liked Henry when he played against us for Wealdstone in our promotion season.

One of few players that came to EP that season from a traditional non league team that stood out.

Not sure it surprised me.

It was what he did with Halifax on the final day against us and that early three goal salvo on opening day last season was due to us repeatedly gifting them the ball 30 yards from our goal and some top notch finishing.

Not sure why he shits himself away from home against bigger clubs as often as he does because both his Halifax and Barrow teams are capable of going toe for toe dispute the budget disparity.

We weren't conceding 5 goals regularly and we deserved to go up. I don't know where you got the impression from on here that we were shite..
