Mansfield were a decent but dirty side, clinical in the box and the type that will probably go up.
The ref didn't help matters by being inconsistent - Didn't book anyone for ages then booked White for a challenge that wasn't as bad as the Mansfield one 30 seconds earlier. Rawson who got sent of was just stupid - the ref had started to get get card happy and his 2nd yellow was just lazy play. What it did do though was put some pressure on the ref who the bottled what should have been a straight red for the Mansfield No25(?) Ryan Stirk who clearly elbowed White right on half-time. saying that Mansfield would probably held on for a 2-1 win even with 9 men.

You forgot to mention Banks who probably worthy of 4 yellow cards but the referee bottled it. First yellow for Rawson looked daft too but I’d like to rewatch.

Didn’t see the Stirk incident or hear anything about it from on here, Stagsnet or Barrow commentators so I’ll have to wait and actually see/hear about it more.

All in all a good three points, absorbed the little pressure we received in the second half and got the game killing goal, cannot ask for more.

Agree 100% if it wasn’t for Oldham and Scunthorpe we would be nailed on to go down. League performances are just not good enough.

We are completely void of any ideas when in possession, we panic then get it out wide to be whipped in aimlessly to nobody!

Shite

Yep it's a lot of pass, pass, pass, pass, followed by a big welly boot from Byrne to no one

I thought at least Fela gave us a bit of drive when he came on, his push into box from out wide was the start of our goal, wanna see him start more but for whatever reason can't get a game.

it will take HG 2 paragraphs to say that....
Well I did warn people that our recent run of “form” was very misleading and largely down to really good fortune of facing opponents on their real off days.

Even some of our fans had got carried away, talk of mid table, playoff pushes, playoff finals. The truth is we are still the same sorry excuse for a football team that we have been all season with absolutely no quality in the striker position.

Big week ahead for us. Today has hopefully been the wake up call that the club needs to get some serious transfer business done in the next week to address the clear deficiencies in our team. Otherwise there’s every chance that we’ll lose our football league status.

So 3 paragraphs.

Well that was incredibly comfortable, in fact it should have been more than 2. Obviously the sending off helped, but I don't think it was pivotal. The most impressive thing was how solid our defence looked. Diabete is turning into some player.
How are we still only eighth though??

Zanzala’s injured his knee. Taylor, in his post match, said he’s jarred it but it’s a “worrying” injury. Hopefully he won’t be out long but we may have to go back into the loan market in the next week if it’s a long term injury.

Two teams with absolute zero quality today at Pools, both stunk the house down.

We gave away a stupid penalty and equalised with a peach of a shot.

Thank god for shite like Oldham and Scunny, they'll keep all our heads above water this season.
We are 11pts from the playoffs and 11pts from the drop, which will be closer at the season end.

Worrall was out with covid so fair play that with the injuries we played it, many teams would have tried to call it off there.

Good job we've just sent out Seymour on loan

We are totally and utterly wank. Very poor again. There is no identity with Lee's side, we can't decide if we want to be a long ball side or a passing side. His team does neither well.

So desperately short of quality, it's a piss take and what did Raj say today? Yeah we're getting some premier kids in to rectify that.

This is probably the most revenue the clubs had for a decade and none of it is being spent on the club at all.

You're striking an optimistic tune these days... only last week we were still certain to lose our FL status so 'every chance' is a major downgrade on how likely we are to go down.

Fela could have won it today.
Ferguson whipped in a peach of a cross for him,but he stood & watched it go by.
Still, he produced the only bit of football played by two stinking teams.
Mind numbingly boring, just like Lee's interviews.

I've stopped listening, I thought Challinor's snotty nose interviews were a bad listen but Lee is by the numbers mind numbing.

Aye Raj fighting fires in his latest interview, he had the audacity to complain about the quality of the summer signings whilst withholding a portion of the budget the crank, as for name dropping Arsenal and Man United, daft plan to impress people, they can get fucked.

Today summed up our entire season really.

First half was complete domination by Newport, no idea how they didn't score and we went in at 0-0. It was men against boys really.

Second half we started off better and of course Newport scored when they'd barely attacked that half. We then get a penalty, have to wait about 5 minutes to take it because of Newport players surrounding the ref. We obviously missed the penalty.

From then on it was just game over, we lost all impetus and looked horrific once again.

To win today was remarkable given the ref was so ridiculously biased towards barrow is was brilliant achievement, not seen someone as biased for some years.

Sadly for them barrow were well, hopeless.

We were very poor today but our setup had no chance against you really. Powerful defenders, direct and strong strikers. I didn't think you were dirty, tough to play against but most of us down the bottom would love having a squad like Mansfield's.

Game of 2 halves. We were good 1st, poor 2nd. Rovers team is certainly a Barton side - 6 yellows, constant fouling. If they spent less time fouling they may have had all 3 points. Dreadful.

Strange we gave them an extra 304 tickets when they didn’t sell out their initial allocation of 2500

Think Rovers might be disappointed to come away with only a point. We were disjointed and couldn't cope with their high press. If they had a proper striker instead of Doug Loft I think they win that. Still a home point in a Derby can't be sniffed at.
Bit of a disappointing game all round tbh. Atmosphere was pretty dead from both fans for 95% of the game IMO. I felt your goal at the time was a bit out of nowhere and disappointing to concede, I was right behind it down the other end - too much time and space on the ball. Great finish though.

Then you really turned the screw and looked like you'd grab a 2nd as you were all over us. Then something changed and we were well on top for the final 15/20 minutes or so of the 2nd half. I thought 1-1 was fair going in at half time.

2nd half we came out on top and should have gone on to win it IMO. Would have taken a point before, but disappointed not to take 3. I thought the ref started off really well but completely lost his way after about 35 mins. He became a right home referee, dishing out yellows for looking at Swindon players but when the opposite happened, no booking.

I said to my Dad at the time, this is one of those games where Swindon will moan that we're aggressive and we'll moan that they spend 80% of the time rolling about on the floor. Neither are wrong though.

I think overall we were the better team on the day but we didn't create any/enough chances to actually win it. We were in somme superb positions to score but would always take an extra touch, cut in, crap cut back etc. You looked much more dangerous when attacking IMO.

Shame the referee completely lost it in the 2nd half as no team could ever build up any momentum - once both teams worked out how to play the ref (special shoutout to Williams who I think once actually fell over because the sun came out) it became a bit of a sh*t show tbh. Have you ever seen a game with so many long water breaks btw?! I was expecting about 10+ mins to be added on.

That Simpson lad of yours btw is some talent. Everything I like in a striker. He will go on very far in the game, one of the best players I've seen at this level

I think thats a fair and accurate summation and I think you've called the bit about the agressive/roll on the floor bit spot on. Williams does spend a LOT of time on the floor and at times I'm very sceptical as to whether he is fouled each time. I personally did think Rovers were pretty aggressive but without being dirty.

Simpson is on loan from Ipswich, he's improved drastically this season, so strong and intelligent with the ball, lovely finish, shame he couldn't square it to McKirdy in the second half when he shot wide.

Thought your midfield 3 of Finley, Evans and Coutts were very good, you've definitely improved since the last game at the Mem.

Personally I'm happy with a point from a tricky Derby and a 12,650 crowd. (hopefully police costs won't cut into our profits too much)

Christ he's only 19 as well, some talent!

I have to say the police got it spot on today, they were present but didn't overstep/over reach. It was nice not to be held in the stand after the game and I saw no trouble at all after?

We adapt so well, be that style of play or formation, I’ve seen us play superb football and grind wins out doing whatever is necessary, it’s a good sign.
