Be one of those things that will be easily forgotten about as the game was meaningless ultimately but watching our highlights back I have no idea what that Bradford player was thinking with that push on Smith. Brainless football, if that was a Vale player doing that would not have been the least bit impressed.

Referee got that right but missed an even more obvious one than that second half where their lad dived and handled the ball trying to block the shot! The last man taking out Conlon as well was a foul and yellow (not red as ball was far gone).

Won’t complain too much as we won and another goal for Conlon would make him even more attractive for clubs!

Went to a get together yesterday. Had the game on but didn't really watch it. From what I did see cows backsides and banjos spring to mind for FGR and a day at the beach for Crawley.

We improved when we went to 11 men (subbed Wright).

Close season Crawley are going to need some serious strengthening. Forwards, midfield and defence. No money to do it with so send us your freebies.

Every division is a big step up in quality - we finished second in the Conference in 13/14 then 19th in League 2 the year after. League 1 is a funny league as the difference in finances between the top clubs and the bottom clubs is enormous and the footballing ability swings between “almost Championship” where the clubs have to be able to play to “almost League 2” where hard work and percentage football are more important. The likes of Accrington, Lincoln and Wycombe have had to adapt to compete - I’d say the dynamism/their ability to evolve has been their best quality. Either way, it’s exciting and a challenge we’ll readily accept.
I've found it's the league where you start to see some genuinely good footballers because you've got relegated Championship clubs who still hold onto some of their better players wanting to bounce back straight away but you also see some really, really good PL youngsters out on loan as well.

We've had Brennan Johnson from Forest for most of the season (12 goals and 10 assists I think) and he takes us to another level from an attacking point of view. He just glides and eases past defenders. And we also signed Morgan Rogers on loan from Man City in January, who they paid £4m for 18 months or so back when he was 16/17 who's a very good player.

Individual moments of quality are more common as well. If £40k/week Aiden McGeady wants to take on 5 players and stick it in the top bin, that's what he'll do. If Malik Wilks decides he's toyed with an opposition defence enough he'll curl on in from 25 yards. So you can be as good as you be for 90 minutes, play a perfect game but a player will undo it all in the blink of an eye.

If we somehow nick promotion, which seems very unlikely, it would be interesting to see how many of our players would be up to league 1 standard. Carl Winchester stepped up to Sunderland in January and is doing pretty well by all accounts, so it is possible but he was one of our best players.

Matt is clearly our star man, without him we can't score, however he is in his 30's and wasn't all that great during his last spell at that level. Maybe players like Godwin-Malife if he stays and Cadden might be, the rest I'm not sure.

Yep. In spite of the fact that we beat Cheltenham at Vale Park, they were the best team we have played this season. Be glad to get rid of Bolton, only because their fans think they're Real Madrid. Lived in a halls of residence many years ago with a Bolton fan, complete nerd, it's formed my view of Bolton ever since. They're a reasonably big club for League Two but I wouldn't class them as a massive club. Bradford are far bigger and better supported but they know their place now. Cambridge looked poor each time we played them (still beat us twice mind) but I think they've just had one of those seasons where their main striker has had a purple patch (like Pope for us in 2013). I'd expect they might come back down again soon but good luck to them.

I'm gutted that we had such a stinking injury list and we didn't get rid of Askey sooner. We should have been right in the mix with this squad. I've seen a number of seasons of league two and this is one of the very worst standard wise.
Look we know our place, most fans do we are potential premiership club and top championship club, history proves this. In terms of years in the top flight Bolton rank 12th Bradford 55th in terms of honours Bradford I FA Cup and a few minor league succes, BWFC 4 FA Cup wins I defeat. Numerous wins or promotions from all divisions, 2 League cup Finals,4 top 8 finishes in the Prem and 2 European campiagns, So talk some sense maybe the nerd knew a bit more about football? Bradford may just about match Bolton on current attendences period. Just in case you think i am deluded Bradford top attendence 39k in 1911 BWFC 69,912 in 1933 so historically it's not even up for debate.

No one ever mentions the complete bloody agony that we have suffered over the last 9 years, resulting in nearly losing our club, yes we are bullish but since February we have had the best record in this league. We are not stupid we realise we still havent achieved anything yet, but if we do go up our fans deserve to celebrate.

No doubt about it, you're a big club at this level and have historically been a successful club (although many clubs had massive attendance in the 50s as there was nothing else to do!).

I suppose there are idiots in any fan base but there seems to be this air of arrogance as though you're the size of Man United or something. You've been chronically mismanaged in the last few years, so I can understand the excitement but when it borders on arrogance it starts to grate. Let's face it, no amount of history or silverware matters when you're in the bottom division.

I believe it was one of your fans who was filmed singing 'we'll never play you again ' a few seasons back at the Vale. It's that sort of arrogance that comes back to bite you and is also not merited for a club the size of Bolton. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that you could be back down here one day again.

That being said, after a poor start you've managed to turn it around, which I didn't see coming after we beat you 6-3 at your place. So fair play on that and it seems that you've got a decent manager and some decent young players.

Thats fair enough....The we will never play you again is just banter/bollox
As is the HMS piss the league on here from your fans.
What grated me here was the kick us while we are down attitude because we went into administration
It had and never will be something fans can control.

Fair Reply not condoming arrogance but i think you got it right saying i suppose there are idiots in any fan base. We all have them, i came to watch Port Vale against Bolton back in the day, my memories are of your idiots throwing house bricks at us, do i believe you are all idiots nope. For the record we should not be celebrating anything yet, would from 4th down swap places hell yes. But i won't crack open anything until the maths work, no arrogance from this Bolton fan.

The only thing i would say is i truly believe we would have won the league if we had recruited these players in August instead of January, we were truly awful in the first half of the season but fair play to Evatt he turned us around. Not arrogance just my opinion. Our game against you at Bolton was probably one of the lowest points in our history so to be 3rd with two to play is really remarkable.

How the hell did you find out what my IQ was?

Ok first things first, I am definitely not kissing your arse but it could be because you're one of my fav posters on here and I like your sense of humour. It can't be easy when you support a shit side that's on the brink of relegation to the connie. If it was me I probably wouldn't even bother waking up in the morning to go to work let alone retain my sense of humour

As for the duplicate accounts thing, my mind is made up - there are loads of such accounts on this board. Just ask yourself why not a single one of such accounts ever gets a ban. I think that's down to one thing and that is that admin and the 'mods' know they're not real accounts.

Apparently calling a long time forum member a 'spastic' is alright on this forum. It's just a word innit?

I don't think there are any Mods anymore. TB's the only admin. I used to be a Mod then all the staff member stuff disappeared (as did everyone else's I assume, not just me).

We played very well against you at home in the 3-1 win so you must be judging on a game from last season.

When Sheffield Wednesday dropped down to league 1 we played them at home the first game of the season. Of course a few weeks before we played a stack of them registered on the forum. Barely any of them wanted to discuss the game itself, they just wanted a cock waving competition to tell us how many fans they were bringing down and what a massive club they were. I don't recall Leeds being quite as bad but they also took the time to let us know how we'll supported they are/were. I don't think they were aware of the expression self praise is no praise.

As far as I'm concerned we start in August as equals in league 2. I couldn't give a shit if you won the cup in 1898 or took a million fans to old Trafford in a league Cup match. Pretty sure Shania Twain wrote a ditty for those fans.

I recall Sheffield W commenting on how small our ground was (by lower league standards it isnt of course!) etc outside before we promptly dismantled them 3-0 that season!

If anything you should be even more quiet about your size when dropping to L1/2 because its even more of an embarrassment that with all those fans and size your down there in the first place.

Would say Bolton are far bigger than Bradford though, Bradford are well supported but the discount (again not a critic as its a fantastic scheme) does skew the figures and obviously they need to sell double the season tickets for the same income that a side charging £300-320 would hence having not been able to build a financial might on other sides at this level such as Vale/Swindon type sides.
