It certainly is must win for both sides, if I was a neutral I’d fancy you guys to get it though. Another 6 pointer between Colchester and Dale on the same day.
The doom & gloom has well & truly been lifted.
We’ll be flying on Saturday now & will absolutely hammer you 1-0.

Tough game at Grimsby. Ironically id probably be content with a draw. Watched their play off games and grew some admirstion for them after that, they're up there alongside our 5-5 with Sheffield United a few years ago. Great entertainment and far less stressful when your team isnt involved.

Would love another 0-1 but a 1-1 draw is what i'm leaning towards.

I was 43 at the start of those play offs, I’m 75 now.

Would be disappointed if we didn't beat Wimbledon at home. Cook to score yet again. 3-0.

Honestly can’t even remember the last time we got 3 points away from home.

Away at crewe, 2 relatively matched teams in the league, crewe unbeaten in 5 having won at home saturday, mansfield unbeaten in 3 having won their last 2 away games.

Would he hoping for a decent following given crewe isn’t the hardest to get to and we’ve a decent recent record there.

Minutes per goal Europe;

Haaland - 52
Lewandowski - 56
Cook - 67
Neymar - 77
Hoskins - 81
Mbappe - 84

Some decent company there!
Impressive, hard to imagine him up there with someone like Andy Cook. Not sure who the others are, must play in farmers leagues.

Reckon you'll keep hold of him in Jan? Surely L1/Championship clubs are going to come sniffing around.

He’s 32 this year, I doubt anyone will come calling.

£1m and anyone can take him, however.

Up until a few days ago I was seriously contemplating ColU away. I've taken a long hard look at myself and decided against such an act of self harm. This really is a must win. Us in the bottom 5/6 can't all keep being shite every week and failing to win. One of us will surely start to pull away/get cut adrift. I can picture the result now... 1-1. Fans of both clubs say we played 'alright for 20 mins' but we concede a late goal from a set piece.
I'll pop down to a local non league to distract myself from the expected frustrating Dale result.

Form often trumps long term plans in judgement of January transfers though.

Think I missed it in an earlier post but recommendations for Fish & Chip restaurant in Cleethorpes for Saturday please? Seem to recall on the last trip we ate in a large area on a pier?

Yeah that’s Papas and I love it in there but my fellow Town fans don’t seem as keen it would seem from comments on here.
Steels in the market place is absolutely mint too and if you just wanted a take away chippie then Ernie Beckett’s which is across the road from Steels is really good too but be aware it’s card only in there.
Seaway around the corner used to be great too and might still be but I haven’t been in for a while as they are cash only which I’d imagine will lose them a lot of custom in the current climate.

My enthusiasm for a home win has been somewhat dampened after learning Darren Drysdale is reffing the game.

Thanks friend. How are you guys playing this year? Is there confidence in your camp?

His contract is up in the summer so I doubt whatever they’d be willing to pay would be worth losing him, obviously if a silly bid comes in we are at the end of the day in league 2 so we’d have to accept. With his age though I think it’s unlikely that he’ll leave before the summer. He’s doing fantastic but most his goals have been in and around the 6 yard box so in the event he left I’d hope someone else could step up to the plate.

We are getting 3k POTG atm at £20 a ticket so I’d hope money shouldn’t be to much of an issue for us. If we keep improving I think that could rise to 5k per game.

I just don’t see a scenario where it makes financial and footballing sense to let him leave in January.

As things stand we might only have one fit striker available for Saturdays trip to Newport. And he’s never started a league game.

Best we can probably hope for is a 0-0. But Newport will be looking at this as golden opportunity to kick start their season with a good win.

Newport played well in the 1st half last Saturday - they just couldn't score in a brothel.....

Oh I definitely don't dislike it there, it's decent. I just don't think it's in the conversation for best chippy in Cleethorpes/GY. Steels or Ocean Bar (on St Peter's Ave) for me Dirk Diggler.

There's definitely confidence and it's well founded, in my opinion. Time will tell whether we're good enough to challenge for a playoff spot this season, but the early signs are good. If we don't, then I think as long as we can keep hold of Paul Hurst (who has just signed an improved deal) then we'll challenge next season and I don't think you'd find a Town fan who would be disappointed with that either. We're exceeding expectations right now. In terms of how we're playing, it's been a mixed bag. We've looked great for entire halves at times and then in contrast struggled for entire matches and we've been let off by a few teams' lack of clinical finishing. However, we've ground out results consistently other than the opening day of the season when we lost to Orient which doesn't seem like such a bad result now and especially not when you consider the rest of the division had a 6 week head start on us in terms of preparation. We're very solid and we look like one of the fittest sides in the division going off what we've seen already, can't see many sides bullying us. We press well and create a decent amount. On the negative side, we tend to start matches slowly and we're lacking a goalscoring poacher type of striker.

...aaaaaaaand exactly seven seconds after posting this Derby sack their manager with Rotherham's Paul Warne set to come in to replace him sparking a good old Fishy meltdown and speculation that they'll come knocking for Hurst.

Good analysis. Sounds like a draw then which may suit both sides. Good luck on Saturday
