On paper it should be a Home win next week but we all know football is never that simple.

Cambridge's start will look very solid should they despatch Burton as expected next week.

Charlton at home should be a good test for us, they’ve had some decent results although I imagine the thumping of Argyle was helped somewhat by the early red.

But we’ve had some crap results, no slacking now, we need to show the same level of willing to get stuck in we did against Barnsley, that needs to be the benchmark now.

Oh I’d love to sneak a play off place ahead of Peterborough just on virtue of the fact we begin with a C rather than a P. Would be so sweet!

oh, don’t - Posh got as bitter as fuck when we bagged a playoff spot on points per game in the abridged COVID season and we never heard the end of it, I can only imagine the tantrums they’d throw were a local rival to do the same…

Derby v Peterborough looks a good fixture. By all accounts it seems Derby are creating chances but not really putting them away. If that continues there I have to go with Peterborough to win.

It’ll be a good challenge for us as Portsmouth have started well. Hopefully we can do better than the last time Cowley brought a team to VP and knocked 6 past us. For us to achieve what we’ve set out to do this season we need to make VP as difficult a place to come as possible so with a week off before the game hopefully we can fly into them from the kickoff and give them something to think about.

Interesting test Vs Shrewsbury at home. I remember reading some comments on here that they're 'going for it' this season with the signings they've made.

They've had a fairly tough start fixture wise as have we (played Oxford, Barnsley & Pompey after 5 games) so I expect it to be an even game.

Desperately hoping we get some bodies in before the game, we're missing flair, pace and creativity desperately.

Another tough test but one to relish, an opponent we’ve not faced in 22 years and have somehow missed in our league one and two spell with them spending their four year stay in the basement in the four year spell we were back here between our L2 spells.

The last side we beat in the second tier when Ville Viljanen scored a stunner, before he flopped.

It’s probably the first time this season we should go into the game with an ability to pick a rested and fit side with the weeks break and who knows maybe even Wilson or Proctor will be back.

Minutes into long term absentees Conlon, Walker, Pett and the return of Worrall and Massey should give us a chance to pick who we want at least!

Hopefully we can get a striker or two in this week but regardless at worst this is the last game where we will be without many forward options.

Win yesterday takes some pressure off, a point would be solid enough with Cheltenham to follow you’d think being the better chance but if we want to do well we need to really keep the home form good, especially if we want to hold the bigger fan base we have at home these days.

Going to need to be at our best. We know we will work as hard as anyone but probably need to be more clinical.

See what happens with the striker options but hopefully continue the home performance levels, try and get a first “scalp” of sorts but would be content with a point in this (as long as we follow it up with a win the week after).

This was one of my favourite moments of the pandemic. The best bit was when they were trying to convince the league to have play offs down to 8th “to make it fair”. McAntony was fantastic entertainment, I loved his response haha.

That’s poor, we finished 8th and voted to end the season to protect the finances of the other clubs who were struggling that would have suffered had we carried on.

McAntony didn’t give a shit about other clubs. First he wanted the season continued in the summer with no crowds in despite the fact it would be loss making for everyone. Then he wanted play offs down to eighth as he deemed that fairer than going ppg. Then even when they won promotion a year later he was bleating on about how their promotion the year before was stolen from them - and the promotion they won was from the dodgiest penalty you will ever see at home to Lincoln in injury time. Unreal.

I do remember Vale doing that at the time and was very impressed, it was all about survival rather than the league you were in that summer. The only club who could have a real gripe was Tranmere as they were relegated on ppg and that was harsh as from memory they were three points behind Wimbledon with a game in hand and Wimbledon were in appalling form. Even Tranmere sucked it up despite how harsh it was on them, unlike McAntony.

My cousin is getting married on Saturday so, fortunately, I won't be at Whaddon Road to watch Oxford finally find their feet and Kyle Joseph get a hat-trick against us.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that. Oxford looked very average when we played them at their place so I fancy you to beat them or get a point.

Yes it's weird how we've avoided each other for so long. Should be a sizeable Pompey contingent coming your way.

According to Joey Barton our manager is an idiot who knows nothing about the game and we have a crap formation so you should have no problem dispatching us .

I expect Pompey to be strong. They'll certainly be top 6 I think, so it's a real test for us. Should be another 5 figure crowd too. Can't believe how far we've come....we're steadily growing our core fan base which is great to see.

A win would likely put us in the top 6 but a draw would be a great result.

Big game Saturday, with some very winnable fixtures following. Chance to put some daylight between us and the pack then, prior to Sheff Wed mid September.

Ahead of the pack? We are 5 games into the season haha.

You've had a good start but don't get ahead of yourselves.

Pretty clear I'm not.

But we have 4-5 fixtures after this weekend before Sheff W which we should be winning and takes us to 12 games (give or take) - I can't check right now. Barnsley seems important despite their indifferent start.

12 games will be a much clearer picture and the league table will be more formed on who is going to do well/struggle but there are no easy wins in this league.

The table is still looking positive for us but Saturday's dreadful game knocked the wind out of us a bit.
It would seem that Accy are perennial survivors so know how to grind out the odd result, so this will be a tight one again.
But for the 723rd time this season, I'm hoping for some new signings before the game to make me more optimistic..

Mallik Wilks debut on Saturday.

Could be some bench if Michael Smith is back too.

Looks like JFH is still in charge. He said he will only resign if is he is the problem.
Well you are. So go now.
The fans forum is still taking place tonight. I’m attending via zoom.
It looks like he is going nowhere, so we will be down by new year.
I will keep posting on here, but won’t be able to comment on games as I’m boycotting the club along with about 1,000 others. ( will grow )
Onto Cambridge away.
What memories that brings back of clinching the title on the last day. Think we took over 2,500.
This won’t be happy.
3-0 defeat.
Keep blaming the players Jimmy. It’s all their fault.

Don’t rate our chances of getting much from this one, if Moore-Taylor is out we’re really going to have a problem keeping the Wednesday attack quiet. Wouldn’t surprise me if we brought another defender in during the week as we’re a bit short of numbers there atm.

We are decent on the break though so with them likely to push numbers forward we might have a goal in us, Wickham will be up for this you’d imagine.
