Sorry Vale fans but I don't see it.
It's a good strong tackle in the build up from the pompey player, he wins the ball, never a foul for me.
The pen looks soft but I've watched it from a few angles and the striker gets to the ball first then gets clipped.
Ref got both decisions right in my opinion.

I think you could argue both decisions either way tbf. Strong challenge on the first one which often gets given as a foul in the modern game. Plus, one of our players got booked in the first half for an almost identical incident.

Penalty can be viewed either way. I think there's too much doubt as to who touched the ball first to give it. I think if there's VAR there it's not given because of doubt. Additionally, that player had already thrown himself to the ground twice, so he had a history of going down easily.

The ref doesn't have to give it but he was one that loves the attention. I think it was the culmination of him seemingly favouring pompey all afternoon that got people's goat.

Referee has got both decisions spot on in that Port Vale game. First tackle is a great tackle, no idea why that would be a foul.

Pompey player has gone down easy but it's a penalty, he knicks the ball away and gets taken out

Never a foul on Chislett that isn't. It's a cracking challenge, hard and fair. I was raging at the time, but after seeing it back, I reversed my opinion instantly.

Never a penalty in a million years though, and he couldn't wait to give it the obnoxious little prick. One of those refs that proper loves himself and makes the game all about him. Ref it, don't control it. Giving stupid, needless, lengthy talks to players and disrupting the flow of the game constantly, like a bloody teacher bollocking a student. Pathetic. Even the Pompey players got a bit fed up of it (I remember Ogilvie showing frustration at one point wanting to take a quick free kick) which says all you need to know.

No idea why Pompey cheat so much though. Diving all over the shop which was bizarre considering they battered us all game and only Ripley and poor end product stopped us conceding 3 or 4. It just leaves a bitter taste when a shocking decision has ultimately cost us what would've been a hugely welcome point and clean sheet but you could argue the performance warranted a defeat anyway you look at it. It's just the manner of the defeat which is difficult to accept.

As for blaming Crosby, that's utter bollocks, sorry. He literally put out our strongest team available ffs!? Debrah is not 100% fit yet, no chance, so him not starting made sense. With no Ojo, Garrity and letting Conlon go, we literally had no other midfield options bar youth players. We're desperate for a striker, even more so if Uche is now out, and a wing back too. Big, big week for us with a massive game up at Fleetwood next Saturday.

To be fair to Crosby it seems to be more an issue from higher up. When the DOF isn’t thinking about relegation and we are only going to loan a couple more kids it is another sleep walk of a January towards relegation.

Throwing a 16 year old left wing back to replace Wilson a striker shows the issue at the moment and how tied his hands are with the injury situation.

Yet he was probably one of our better players when he came on, funnily enough.

Not sure how we got a point at Blackpool but will take it all day long, desperately needed.

Have seen the Port Vale clip. Not a foul in the build up and a penalty for me. It errs on the side of soft but it’s such clumsy defending

He was which says a lot! Only one who took it by the scruff of the neck to win us a few set pieces in the last few minutes.

See the fan has been charged to appear before magistrates Court in March. Sounds from Carols statement he will be banned for life, so silly, he’s just completely lost his head there and in that mad moment probably going to lose supporting the club.

Oddly at the time i didn’t expect it to make global news like it has which isn’t what we want to be seen as. A lot of good has been done making it a family club and trouble home and away seems rare nowadays but the Swindon game and this damage that good work done over the years.

Don't the PV fans like a moan. Instead of slagging Pompey about us cheating you ought to look at your own performance. You was absolutely awful. Fleetwood played better the other week.

I suggest you concentrate on getting your own house in order for next weeks match cos I reckoion you got to be one of the favourites to go down if yesterday was was a normal performance.

I've watched this replay several times and I reckon the ref got both decisions spot on.

Worst performance of the season certainly at home as mentioned hence our general form
is ok.

Pretty sure we’ve mentioned our awful set up yesterday which the referees incompetence shouldn’t distract from. A better side puts us away 4 or 5 yesterday so wasn’t acceptable.

Quite similar to the Middlesbrough no show actually.

I'm not sure how you did neither. It should have been 4-0 at half time. That's the best we've played at home bar the final 15 minutes. Hopefully you can get the right manager in and push on. All the best for the rest of the season.

I would say Bolton are Championship bound, played some excellent football and have some quality players.
As for us, highly unlikely we'll be in this league next season. I think it's obvious Simpson is preparing for life in L2.
For me, Gibson has to start games. He can be frustrating at times by losing possession, but in the main he's our most creative and attacking player.
Our new owners are being quite patient with Simpson, there's growing criticism on the terraces though.

It’s fine to criticise Simpson, Ive done it a fair bit, but those calling for him to be sacked need to have a look at themselves. We are going down so sacking a person with two league 2 promotions on his CV would be foolish.

He’s been handicapped by a poor budget and frailties in the squad, but I go back to what I said a while ago, if we were better in possession (and we are capable of being) then I don’t think we’d look as bad even with the poor squad. BigDaveCUFC and I totally disagree on this but for me better possession helps win you football matches, even more so at this level. it keeps you on the front foot and works the opposition more. What we do is constantly give the ball back to the other team and end up on the back foot and conceding chances as a result and at this level compared to L2 you get punished. If or when we return to this level it’s something we’ll have to be a lot better on.

I didn’t go to Cambridge yesterday so can’t comment but sounds like a workmanlike performance without any flair.
I hope the new gaffa changes the format and plays more football, which is what we want. We have some good players that can play well on the deck.
Seddon was stupid and deserved to go. Idiot.
Will take a point however. 2 clean sheets now. First time in what seems like about 7 seven seasons.

To caveat what I'm about to say (you'll need to look that word up Pompeyblueboy), we didn't deserve anything out of the game. Looked men against boys at times. Would have been interested to see our best side against them as I thought they were there for the taking. Really, with the team we put out on Saturday, a team at the top of the league should be winning that comfortably, not relying on a penalty with 2 minutes to go.

As I said earlier, both decisions could go either way in my view. Portsmouth player got the ball but then caught Chislett with his follow through.....I don't think that's a foul but in the modern game it is unfortunately. Most refs would have given it I think.

The penalty, even from different angles, it's really difficult to see whether Grant gets a touch on the ball. From the referees angle, he can't possibly be certain that Grant didn't get the ball. Whether he did or he didn't, the ref is guessing. He couldn't wait to blow up for it. That's 3 games he has refereed against us. He's given 3 penalties and a red card against us.

You also have to put into context the fact that Kamara seemed to have a gravity issue. He'd already gone down twice (something that the ref should have considered and also he should have been booked before). Bishop and Morrell had also been constantly in the refs ear throughout and that ref is going to succumb to that pressure eventually as he's weak.

If the ref gives a foul against Chislett or doesn't give a penalty, then nobody blinks an eye. The worst refs are those that you notice and he was one of those that feel that everyone has come to see him. He's really not helped himself.

We were very poor but we should be walking away with an undeserved point.

Injuries are killing us, I dare say we'd have made a better effort had Uche not had to go off but we didn't adapt to him going off and get back to our passing football and kept lumping long balls to Loft who's crap in the air, Chislett and Wilson who are not tall. It just kept coming back then! Uche at least would have caused a few problems and did even if he wasn't great. Its something we need to work on this work or sign a target man as it just didn't work and that gifted Portsmouth the initiative.

As for the decisions the debate could go on and on and not get an answer, just look at the socials for that, even Vale fans can't agree on either.

I agree on the tackle, its a great tackle in one aspect but the modern day the follow through usually pulls it back, however regardless our player was booked for an identical tackle earlier in the game so you either give both or neither, how can he see the same thing as a yellow before and not there?

Penalty isn't for me, Grant's got a toe on the ball and it looking clumsy doesn't mean it should be a penalty but as mentioned Grant is experienced enough to know he doesn't need to stick a toe in there and just stand him up and he knew he would go down as he'd dived twice in the first half (which he should of been booked for!) As they said on the Pod, he couldn't wait to give them a penalty and you can say with good confidence if it was the other way around he doesn't give us one. We didn't deserve a point but we've lost games we deserved things from and Portsmouth hadn't had the quality to punish us when gifted a few chances so got out of jail there but that's the kind of thing that goes for teams when they are top and not at the bottom. It would have been a decent point with the injuries we have currently to build on.

Different fans will have different views though so we move on. Hopefully we dont have this referee again! He was also the referee for the two Bristol Rovers ties in the promotion season and I am sure both sets of fans will remember him in those and he largely didn't really seem to know what he was doing all game, Pompey got a corner second half, no idea if it was or wasn't but he just stood for about 15 seconds starring at the lino before neither had a clue so he just gave them it, and second half the free kick we got for Loft.

We move on though... just dont give us Benjamin Speedie Saturday!
