Luton comfortably beat a poor Burton side 3-0.

Slowly getting into gear, but improvement available.

Cardiff are absolutely flying having beat Plymouth 4-0. How a reverse of fortunes since May.

Posh look poor but we are a Jekyll and Hyde side. Brierley and Doyle-Hayes in midfield look as good as we have had for a while.
Top half which I will take all day long

Darren Moore has two days of the window remaining to figure out how we can actually pose some semblance of threat to the opposition goal or we are in trouble. Was two very powderpuff teams in a very even game but once Reading got the goal (nice hit) we could play until next Saturday and we wouldn’t have equalised.

Yep. Any team with even a semi competent forward line probably walks away from that game with 3 points. We scuff so many shots, sky so many headers and put in so many terrible crosses, it's amazing that we've scored 2 to be honest. Frustrating to once again be beaten by a side who probably didn't deserve it but if we can't score, we're only one mistake away from losing.

This league is awful from The shithouse teams that cheat and roll around for 90 mins to Referees who should go no higher than park football.
Not a team that we have not deserved to beat in any game this season and here we are with one win.
Again limited a home team to one shot on target and they get a point.

Two big days coming up we need a centre half with pace, right back who passes forward and a forward who can also play the ten role.

Outgoings would take offers on up to 20 of the squad including the two wingers he has just brought in

Refs do seem to be poor this season. Even though we won comfortably, some awful decisions from the ref, giving fouls for players being breathed on, not giving blatant ones, and other baffling ones. Really stopped what flow there was in the game.
I blame VAR.

These clowns dont need VAR.....I watched the Fulham, Chelsea game they got it wrong with VAR
Burnley i believe was the same....Though i did not see that.
Our goal ruled out the linesman got right but on the stroke of half time that is a penalty all day long
Good to see no shithousery from Blackpool.
The Lincoln game was woeful

I mean i blame VAR for making refs lazy and not taking responsibility.

The Burnley 'tug' was a joke, looking forward to 20 penalties a game now if thats the benchmark (and it wasnt even inside the area)

Bradford City 3-2 AFC Wimbledon

Probably the best team we’ve faced this season, behind Stockport. Refreshing change to the tippy-tappy, powder-puff sides like Wycombe and Luton.

A game of defensive errors, in truth. Wombles had two great chances at 2-2 to go back ahead - I’m not sure if we would’ve equalised for a third time had they gone ahead again with 20 mins to go.

Our strength in depth is the best it’s been for a long time. Minutes after we equalised we were able to bring on Antoni Sarcevic, Will Swan and Nick Powell. Ultimately, winning us the game.

Beaten Wycombe, Luton, Stockport, Blackburn, Stoke and Wimbledon. Still unbeaten. It’s been a fantastic August as far as we’re concerned. We can talk about the width of a post at Northampton and conceding in the last minute at Posh - if those results go for us, we’re two points clear at the top. Luck is evened out for all sides over the course of the season.

Moving onto Sept, it doesn’t get any easier.

Grimsby (h)
Doncaster (a)
Huddersfield (h)
Cardiff (a)
Newcastle (a)
Blackpool (h)

I’m sorry, I know you’re on a wind up, but AFCW were amongst the most anti football sides I’ve seen in a while.

Wind-up, I’m being deadly serious!

You and Wycombe were abysmal to watch. I’d sooner watch Wimbledon over you lot.

100% our worst performance of the season and with about 7-8 players unavailable.

We didn’t play much better, with a number of injuries, too.

Still comfortable for us.

Who hasn't got injuries? I think we have 6 or 7 now and quite a small squad.
Finished with two academy players up front yesterday, without one next week as he has been called up for Wales u21

You do realise how ridiculous this sounds?

He is actually right, we have had the most shots of any team in the top 4 divisions. And the least shots against us. The possession rates are something like 70%.every game has been very one sided, but if you can't put your chances away etc, The only game we won is when we had less possession which says it all of the modern game. However should’ve, would’ve, could’ve., pointless saying it

Fair relating to us.

Personally what I think works at this level are teams that can do the ugly physical stuff, but can also get it down and play in the final third.

Our endless pingy short pass shit just doesn’t work at this level, with this quality of player, and is piss easy to defend against.

Hilariously (for everyone else), Mike Dodds literally came out this week with, “Plan B*? There is no Plan B. We just have to execute Plan A better to get results”.

*this in the context of teams who turn every game into a scrap and chuck men begind the ball.

Our next 4 games are:

Mansfield H
Posh A
Cobblers H
AFCW A

Less than 4 points out of that lot and I will be leaning firmly towards Dodds Out.

I was going to say give him till Xmas, but he’s been backed more than any other Wycombe manager in the transfer market, and the results, enjoyability of watching the games, and the atmosphere around the club is fucking dire right now.

It’s not a kneejerk reaction, we’ve got consistently poorer since he’s come in last Feb.

The snag is, I suspect anyone else we bring in will be told to play the same way - the whole point of bringing in a Director of Football is that the head coach no longer has sole control over tactics/playing style.

Grim times.
