The Bolton game versus Cheltenham the ball was out off play for56 minutes, the goal keeper had 33perscent of Cheltenham possession. This is cheating and spoils the game for everyone time TheEFL acted on this

That's just football these days, Bolton did it themselves at Vale Park when down to 10 men to kill momentum.

It's crap to watch and should be cut out but whilst its not everyone will do it to avoid being disadvantaged.

Wycombe were another level at the weekend, up there with Stevenage under Westley but it worked a treat (not helped by a shit referee, who didnt even managed to get a straight red card decision correct for Vokes!) but can't blame them, it works and if allowed to get away with it then teams will keep doing it.

Down to the law makers that one to sort.

Cheltenham were also the worst I’ve seen do it in all the years I’ve been watching football. Even worse than how we were playing earlier in the season under Cotterill until he apparently got a bollocking off our chairman explaining that fans pay good money to see an actual game of football.

With Cheltenham charging something daft like £26/28 per ticket, only a matter of time before their attendances decline. Can’t afford to play shite tactics like that when you already have a low number fanbase.

We're not as bad at home - that's not to say we don't do it, but it's definitely more of an away tactic.

MK Dons were time wasting after half an hour, although the ref probably wasted more time than them throughout the 90. The trick is to not let them have something to protect, unfortunately we gift goals away

I would not call it tactics when it's from minute one,if you actually played football you might win more games. The fans are being cheated and as stated you can't afford to lose them

I've been saying for years 2 x 30 minute halves with the clock stopped when not in play. If they can have that system at my local five-a-side I'm sure it's possible in League football.

Would need buy-in worldwide though so will probably never happen as it goes against the sacrosanct "a match is 90 minutes long". The alternative is an independent time keeper adding minutes on at the end like we saw in the World Cup. It's not perfect but it's better than we have now.

The time wasters are winning. Football training is 80% footy and 20% drama classes for most teams.

Opens it up for all Yank sports style advertising though sadly.

Yeah I have to say you guys were the worst for it that ive seen this season, every challenge your players went down and sometimes even players not involved in the play. Sounds like you have improved that though so fair play

If it's from minute 1 then I would call it tactics given that's what we've gone into the game to do.

I'm not defending it by the way, there seems to be this thing among football fans that if you try to provide a reason for something then it's a defence. It's like people on forums slagging Cheltenham's pricing - we know it's a rip-off and we know why the board have done it. The £26-28 prices haven't stopped the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol Rovers, Plymouth, et al from selling out their allocations - in most cases going over and having fans in the home areas. It's justified the club's decision to have those prices. To combat that, they make a game against Accrington "Quid a Kid" to try and boost the attendance. I don't agree with it, and I'm the first to slate the club for it, but I don't blame them for milking the cash cow whilst we're in this division.

We were masters of the dark arts in the first couple of months of the season but they fans were getting pissed off with it as some games there was zero ambition to win and we were happy to just shithouse a 0-0.

I’ll give Cotterill credit though, he changed it up and not only the football, but the results are so much better now. Obviously there will be times when we’re a goal up and we shithouse the last 20/15 minutes or so but atleast we’re not doing that from minute 1 anymore.

Perfect example would be after going 1-0 up away at Burton a few weeks back after just 19 seconds. The Steve Cotterill team of August/September would have been happy to sit and drag out the rest of the 89 minutes and would have either won 1-0 or drew 1-1 but instead we kept attacking and ended up winning 4-0. Think some manager forget that it’s an entertainments business/sport at the end of the day.

Just wish we played like we do now earlier but better late than never!

I was at the game and your right we did ,slow the game down after the sending off but Cheltenham are on a different level.l don't know how but this has to be stopped all it is doing is driving fans away.

Yeah you guys are doing well. Obviously we dont like Cotterill due to his connections with the red side of Bristol but he is doing a very good job
